If ordinary, daily sounds cause pain. Stichting Hoormij developed this documentary to educate about this condition, called hyperacusis. Check out www.nvvs.nl/docuhyperacusis for more information.
I suffered with hyperacusis from 2008 to 2014. Im healed now. A drop of water does not sound like a thud however...taking a shower sounded like a waterfall. I stopped cowarding in fear and faced this head on with constant sound. Music and every thing imaginable. Beat it 100 percent.
Thank you for making this playlist available,i'm doing my dissertation focus on the soundscape of nowadays and noise (what impact has in our lives/health and in natural environments) it will help supporting my research
After seven months of tinnitus, vertigo and hyperacusis, in my case caused by a temporomandibular joint problem and amplified by anxiety, the simptoms have improved, especially those concerning hyperacusis. I can say that thanks to DAILY exercise and meditation, psychotherapy and rest, any sound that I previously experienced as unbearably threatening I now experience with absolute tranquility. I am unable to say whether this kind of training can help in every case of hyperacusis, but I would recommend trying a disciplined internal work. Be strong.
Why not believing it? Let me say that is unfortunate. I wotk on myself every day just about and that is the best I can do for myself. Face the fear of pain and expose yourself to sounds whenever you are well enough to be up to the challenge. 18 months of hyperacusis following a fall, a mike feedback in my earbuds (larsen) then the loss of a loved one. If I can do it, otherscan too. Horeible pain at times, going nuts with electric shock feelings in the brain and neck, and more but there is hope.
