HOW TO PAINT A RUSTY RC CAR SHELL

- So as a few people have asked we thought we better put something out to help you guys create rusty old cars....
We pick up a couple of shells from landlmodels.co... to put on our Tamiya MB01 which was provided by Rochester RC

you will need :
tamiya lexan spray
sand paper
cheap brush
acrylic paints
To coin a (certain someones) phrase, this might just be the "world's best" RC YT channel right now. Keep up the stellar work, fellas.
Use electrical tape to mask crisp lines. Once you tried it you’ll never use masking tape again and you just might thank me later! Great vids guys! I really enjoy watching them!

Love the rusty shells! - I've always cut and mark the holes prior to painting on my shells. If someone else is painting the shells I use magnetic post post markers which makes the job so much easier. the light is still a great tip though!
I do to but when painted it I had not decided what car to put it on so keeping options open
Oh you make it sound so easy! I’ve tried so many times to paint distressed bodies, which end up in the bin 😂😂 but it’s good to see your tips, I shall try again.

Good memories of beatties
For weathered shells I mask the outside windows,abrade the shell with scotchbrite and give it two brushed on coats of Mars Red Oxide lexan paint. It then gets sprinkled with coarse salt over the water misted shell. Once dry I apply the top coats of paint and then rub/wash away most of the salt to reveal the "rust" patches. A simple black grime wash and two coats of mat clear finish it off. If applying decals I sand them first to age them and I sometimes use Ammo rust paint and £ shop earth tone blushers to add detail.
