    / favourite-worst-nightmare
    open.spotify.com/album/1XkGOR...
Favourite Worst Nightmare is the second studio album by English rock band Arctic Monkeys, released on 23 April 2007 by Domino Recording Company. Recorded in east London's Miloco Studios with producers James Ford and Mike Crossey, the album was preceded by the release of "Brianstorm" on 2 April 2007. This is the band's first album with bassist Nick O'Malley, replacing their previous bassist Andy Nicholson, who left the band before the North America tour of the band's debut studio album.
In comparison to the band's debut album Whatever People Say I Am, That's What I'm Not, the album is considered more ambitious, with ambient sounds and expanded drum rhythms being introduced. Like Arctic Monkey's debut, Favourite Worst Nightmare was a widespread critical success, with critics highlighting the band's new emotional depth and Turner's matured songwriting. NME and Uncut ranked it the second-best album of 2007, while Dutch publication OOR named it the best of 2007. In retrospect, the album is considered the start of the band's change of sound with each of their albums after their debut.
In its first week of release, the album sold over 227,000 copies, going straight to number one in the UK Albums Chart. "Brianstorm" and "Fluorescent Adolescent" were also both hits on the UK Singles Chart, with the former reaching number two on the chart. In the United States, the album debuted at number seven on the Billboard 200, selling around 44,000 copies in its first week. The album has since gone 3× platinum in the UK. It was nominated for the 2007 Mercury Prize and won Best British Album at the 2008 BRIT Awards.

Fun fact about the drummer Matt Helders, in between recording their first album and this one he decided after seeing a band (I wanna say QOTSA but could be wrong) that he needed to hit the drums harder and faster so he took up boxing training so he could go all out for this album

their progression as a band is super interesting. they transition from album to album similarly how they did between songs like fluorescent and the only ones who know in this album. humbug is like an evolution of that maturity. whereas their first album is all asngst & fuck around energy. this being a perfect blend of the two. they were the biggest band in uk but couldn’t get the U.S base to catch on - but during their tour with the black keys they played a new song & the u.s crowds ate it up. they decided to make an entire album around that song, & boom. AM was born. also, IF you are gonna do another i’d say do them in order from first to last. whatever people say i am that’s what i’m not being my favorite.

Knew a couple songs from AM growing up & still love them. TBH&C made me a fan. Doesn’t matter if some people don’t get it, it’s objectively a Fantastic album. So so good.

Was good to see the reaction to my favourite band. Would be interesting to see reactions to their debut and then their most recent one for the contrast in style. Also very glad they're back with their album in October.

You timed this very well btw. Arctics just played at a massive festival in the UK. They didn't play all my favourites but they played alot of them and I'm so glad I was there. Fuck this is making me emotional I love these two albums so much

Imho, the best thing of AM it's making others listen their albums chronologicaly and see their expectations crumble, album after album. Asides (the shock of) knowing how old they were when they started to gain fame, hearing them changing it's such an experience. It's life in music, real life. Thanks a lot for sharing AM with him! I'm eager to see him (from Argentina!) reacting to the rest of their discography.

I recently picked this one up on CD at a car boot sale for less than £1. I listen to it when I deliver pizzas in the evening and it makes the shifts so much more fun. Love this channel guys thank you so much it’s kept me going through a challenging patch, can’t wait to hear more!

Keep up the great work guys! I would just like to say I find both of your commentaries very interesting and I think it would be cool if Kevin showed us some of his favorite songs sometime. He speaks of genesis, the police, and a few others quite often, I know it wouldn’t be a ‘reaction’ but just for Kevin to go over some of his favorite songs w the audience would be cool.
