I beat this game twice when I was young, I guess both times I was too dumb to get that the octopus at the end was actually a parasite that was controlling the old Steef. I never understood why he asked if the water was free, but now I see that it was cause he had been mind controlled and forced to hold back the waters the whole time, when all the while his sole purpose in life was to guard the waters and natives. Crazy storytelling. Love this universe.

What makes Oddworld so unique is it's profound messages, hidden in oddball worlds and unfamiliarity. Remaking Oddysee was a nice fan service but oddworlds strength will always be the incredible things it can communicate and achieve through a...well an odd world.
Eh not more so, careful messaging in games done right. The setting in the game is set up appropriately and not so silly forced in, look at you Dragon Age 2 or uhh Max Payne 3.
I always felt sorry for Stranger. He's essentially considered an animal by the standards of Oddworld, and therefore fair game. He feels he needs that life changing operation in order to simply live.

I remember reading an article where Just Add Water talked to Lorne Lanning about a Stranger sequel and Lorne sent the head of JAW a mile long text about it. That was 7 years ago unfortunately, and I hope that some of what went on is in the works, or will be in the works after Soulstorm.
JAW are no longer on the team. Communications between them an OI was too difficult for lorn. Stranger was not well received by the larger population to which lorn stated it wouldn't be likely to ever occur. late to the party, but I buy into the theory Sekto's species are the secret controllers behind the Glukkon empire. after all, they are an entire species of manipulative mind-controlling parasites.
I've always found Sekto's role and design to be an oddly specific choice. He's a wealthy, cephalopod-like freak, just like the glukkons. However, unlike the glukkons, who are weak and straight up can't use their legs to walk, Sekto's kind straight up parasitizes and mind controls other beings like the steef who was forced to be his "body". And when you expose the true identity of his body, he's actually just a four-armed octopus who swims off like the coward he is. Kinda reminds me of certain folks online who'll claim to be part of a people when trying to advocate for the destruction of said people, then deny being part of said people when critiqued or castigated as a supposed member of them.

Exoddus and Stranger's Wrath are not a part of the fabled quintology. Essentially put, the quintology would have been a grand total of 5 Oddysee games, each with a different hero introduced, and any other game (like Abe's Exoddus) would have been bonus games. However, things got pushed and canceled all around sadly. And for some reason, Stranger's Wrath was officially declared to also not be part of the quintology. What the quintology could have brought has practically gone off into legend...

I'm impressed with the weapon he's carrying, using viscous creatures as ammunition, ingenious and wholesome. Though I never played this game before, I love the lore and texture of this game, that surly is a "Odd" game. And I like the weapon too.
I remember seeing the ending when I beat the game when I was eight, and I was shocked at the Grubbs expressions when Stranger was comforting the old steef. Not only were they sad but so tired after everything that happen to them.
Oddworld Inhabitants has a habit of only making GOOD games! You understand the world you're in on your first play through yet there's still so much more. The characters voices, design, and traits work so well. The cutscenes make me wish they'd turn this into a movie and I KNOW it would be perfection. Other games rely on being able to interact with them, but this is no game. It's a piece of art and deserves nothing, but praise!

There's one thing that bothers me,Blisters Booty's bounty was only 200 moolah,which is pretty low,but he is referenced several times by other outlaws as a top tier boss,for example, the lootin Duke who fears him for "reasons",his brother Boils Booty who tried to bust him out of jail,and the outlaw minion who was astonished that "Blisters Booty got bagged by a steef!",so why is the heck did he not have a higher bounty with that kind of infamy? Fun fact:Boils Booty must be the least feared outlaw boss because if you look at his hat you'll notice an arrow in it,implying that not even the Grubbs have respect for him.

That is only one exemple of the many great and original games that did poorly in sales and shows that the mass is going only for the most hyped and ordinary AAA games that the hugh companies are publishing and by that desroing any chance for a varied and original gaming scene that is not overshadowed by shootered and action games.

It's amazing to see how far D&D's reach goes. It's not 1-1, but to see a variant on the Ilithid, one of D&D's most iconic monsters, brought into Oddworld as Sekto is so cool.

It's amazing to see how far D&D's reach goes. It's not 1-1, but to see a variant on the Ilithid, one of D&D's most iconic monsters, brought into Oddworld as Sekto is so cool.
A Steef is now what I think centaurs would look like if they were real.
