- Leaked surveillance footage from inside Robb Elementary School during the school shooting in Uvalde, Texas seems to contradict what many gun advocates say is the best response to a shooting: a "good guy with a gun."
Footage shows heavily armed police officers standing in the hallways of the school as the shooting continued, ultimately killing 19 students and two teachers.
The video published Tuesday by the Austin American-Statesman is a disturbing 80-minute recording of what has been known for weeks now about one of the deadliest school shootings in U.S. history: that heavily armed police officers, some armed with rifles and bulletproof shields, massed in the hallway and waited more than an hour before going inside and stopping the May 24 massacre.

The pinch point of the single doorway and a rifle that can blast through standard issue body armour is a great equalizer. Atleast 15 of those cops would have died before any chance of getting at the killer. The bodies of their dead coworkers would have been their only cover.

I think if I were the Mayor I'd be more concerned w/the officers who responded to that 911 call and did virtually NOTHING. The one officer who literally ran away and hid behind the wall, truly Pathetic.
They were getting shot by at by a rifle and they weren't swat. They had him pinned in a room. Unfortunately it's hard to breach a room with only one door when you aren't armoured with SWAT equipment, tactics, and training. The officers would have been sitting ducks if they ran in there. They'd almost all be shot dead instantly.

"A good guy with a gun" has never been a reference to the police, in fact, this just proves yet again that the police will be too late when you need them. As they say: "When seconds count, the police are only [75] minutes away".

The “good guy with a gun” argument is used against the argument for gun control. Although that’s not normally in reference to police, specifically, the point is there were a ton of good guys with guns here (trained ones), but they were afraid of risking their lives for the sake of others. If the assailant couldn’t get access to an automatic weapon in the first place (ie gun control) maybe that would have been a better deterrent to prevent this massacre. Especially if the good guys’ guns are puny in comparison to what random psychopathic citizens can buy.
That’s the point of what the anchor said. Maybe you disagree with the argument, fine, but it’s not out of place in this situation.

The “PRIORITY OF LIFE ” is literally spelled out in Texas training materials for first responders:
1. the lives of innocent civilians come first,
2. then those of first responders,
3. and then, last, that of the offender.
There is no waiting for keys or shields or even for more police backup: police must act to neutralize the threat immediately, even if it puts their own life in danger.
Yet for some reason in Uvalde, the priority of life scale got catastrophically, disturbingly twisted.
Someone form the force came out and said it's not the police's duty to protect the public. Which means the Uvalde Police exists solely to protect capital and itself.
So what exactly are these guys waiting for?
Are they waiting for him to come out and say: ok I'm done.
If the shooter was firing at the police, he would not be killing students.
But he did fire through the door which made the officers fall back

The "Good guy with a gun" is the off duty Border Patrol agent Jacob Albarado who rushed in and saved his wife and daughter while the cops were lounging about checking their twitter.

The cops were scared
Leaked video was the best thing that could have happened. It proved how pathetic the response was. My outrage as a parent would be at the cops not the leaked video.
"The only person who can stop a bad guy with a gun is a good guy with a gun" does not refer to law enforcement. It specifically implies a presence of another civilian with a gun already at location who is a force for the good to confront the force of evil in absence of other authority. "When every second matters, police are minutes away" is the one that applies to law enforcement. There are videos of cops jumping balls deep into the fray. These are not those cops.
First, arrest the Mayor for incompetence! He's angry the video was released. Look at the size of those Cops, and look how fast they can run. Good at Policing the Donut Shop.
I know a young man right now, he has to be 300 lbs, going into the academy. He said he doesn't have to lose weight. I hope he can at least keep up.

See, armed civilians in the context of a mass shooting is the last place they need to be. Let me put you in a situation. You arrive in a school and there is a shootout between two guy in civilian clothes. Who do you shoot? Who do the police, if they are doing their job correctly, is going to shoot. Because it is procedure in school shooting to basically shoot first and ask questions later. You're armed in a school without a uniform, you're the shooter whether you fired on anybody or not. Now in any other settings than a mass shooting, you might have a point.

Globaltv should show that follow up question to that guy who called the release of the video "chicken". A reporter asked if the release of the vid is "chicken $h!t" are the officers chicken too? The reporter then proceeded to ask "do you still think the police did a good job after seeing he video?" I believe the vast vast majority of cops are just as cowardly as what we all saw in that vid.
I always thought one on one some were cowards but what we witnessed were several of them together exhibiting cowardly behaviour. I wouldn't want any of this calibre of officer responding to my home EVER.
The main takeaway here is a "good guy" with a gun. The video clearly shows there were no good guys there at all.

The parents have a right to be angry, everyone else doesn't. Everyone else involved in this should be held behind bars without a doubt... negligence of human life, aiding & abetting, and probably a whole lot more that I'm not even aware about till the investigation has concluded. This wasn't a life or death situation, this was a 77 minute emergency response of an active shooter in the building taking lives. First responders were well equipped even with a ballistic shield. They have no excuses for this.
No lady, thank God someone leaked that video. So the world can see the cowards that could have saved some lives.

During Jeffrey Dahmers time as a free man the neighbours called the police to investigate a disturbance with him and the police showed up to find a mumbling seemingly drugged naked and bleeding young man with which Dahmer reassured the police the man was his boyfriend so they left. There’s a particular army hospital in Germany that’s been the training center for more than one high profile serial killer and Dahmer was one of them as well as Ramirez.

The hero leaked the video showing the cowards actions
One tactic that came to mind is to fire two or three quick rounds from a distance then cover up to lure a gunmen out, then another policeman can shoot from a closer and another angle. Most likely a rifleman.
