    Hi . That's a Hoya plant , don't cut the long brown stems off , those are tendrils and new leaves grow on them . 😊 It's a gorgeous plant and when it blooms it smells amazing 😍

      I love hoyas! I can't get over how big it is. It's beautiful! And, yes, don't cut the tendrils. They will reach for the light and work their way around the beam.

    • @redgirlsrain
      @redgirlsrain Pƙed 23 dny +10

      Yeah, it looks like it might be a hoya pubicalyx. It made me so sad to see her cutting off all the new growth, I'm surprised the people at the shop didn't warn her not to. I have a large one in my computer room and it gets the most beautiful flowers. Another tips is you should never cut the flowers off of a hoya as they won't re bloom from that spot if you cut off the peduncle.

      I have 2 huge Hoya plants like that, and they are very easy to care for. Don't over-water. The flowers are amazing. I like the look of it hanging from the beam more than in the corner.

    The chance meeting with the lady who also runs a vintage shop sounds magical. How wonderful. It was only in the last video or the previous one you were saying how difficult it is to find vintage at the moment and then - pop - there she is. Amazing.

    I think it would be pretty to move your largest mirror propped against the wall where your tree is to bounce light into your living space. You can use your tree to shade the light however bright you want it.

    Hi Elise, If you haven’t painted your wall cabinet yet, don’t forget to prime the piece with grain/knot-blocking primer so you don’t see the pine knots through the paint! Strong wood grain/knots will show through the paint over time if not primed correctly!😁. Please forgive me if you already know this, but I did want to share that tip if helpful! My husband is an expert in paint/painting after almost 40 years in the paint industry! Have a great weekend!!!

    I love that you use a tablecloth on your dining table. It is such a lovely way to add color and texture to a room, yet these days many people won’t use them-minimalism and all that. Your dining room is just lovely!

    • @ragdollmag
      @ragdollmag Pƙed 22 dny +4

      I feel the same way about table cloths. Apparently it's more modern and more casual to forgo using them plus places to go eat food at it's also a cost thing so they don't have to pay to wash/dry them. It's such a shame as it's nice to go out and do special things yet ppl think formal is too old fashioned. Plus some places that just wipe down tables between customers the cloth they are wiping with they don't clean the cloth often enough so I just wince watching them make the table more icky. So, a table cloth actually feels like it would be cleaner. I love how you can get them all different styles so you could go formal or there are casual ones as well and give more personality and a vibe.

    I was going to recommend putting a console table behind the right side of bench. This would allow you to have somewhere to put lamps, a spot to put things from the table while eating dinner with guests etc. Also, this would allow you to push the bench and table more towards under the skylights.😁

    Yes to the mustard dress!! I was having flash backs to my high school days with your groovy collection! Also I own many of the Indian long tunics that I wear as dresses with a lace full slip or skirt under(I often find them without the funky balloon pants). I love seeing you smiling again!!! I remember you being disappointed about that box of so called vintage and lamenting the availability of vintage stock. Then look how you run across that vintage shop with lovely owner who shares your passion. Coincidence? I think not!!❀

    The little round china jars in the thrift shop are Chinese ginger jars. You should Google that plant and see how much light it needs, cause hanging in the corner might be too dark for it. I'm so happy you've found a "vintage minded" kindred spirit, that's great. Have a lovely week friend.

    Ahh Elise ! Happy news for you this week 💛:)) I like your new cabinet on the wall ...the banquette seating is even cozier with it Also....nice vintage finds ..."that gold dress"... but the happiest of news is you meeting a "kindred spirit", it was serendipity! That expression ,"kindred spirit" comes from the Anne of Green Gables series of books..a person who understands... without you having to explain. Someone who you feel comfortable with right away, secret soul sisters....

    Elise, I’m so happy for you! Life works in mysterious ways, doesn’t it? It’s amazing that when you were feeling discouraged with your business and path in life, you met someone who really confirmed for you that you’re on the right one. Follow your heart, always. ❀

    The gold dress makes me think of Bell from The Beauty and The Beast. I can see her spinning in dance wearing this dress. Those bags are beautiful, if there were one with just leaves. I might be tempted.😃 So glad you found someone to buy from, that inspires you. And gives a lift to your spirits. Summer is in full swing here in upstate NY, very hot and humid. The kind of days where if you think too hard the heat leaves you either sticky or dripping wet. Like living it the southern mid-west. Which I hated. Thankfully it has cooled down nice at night. Ahh, there is your lovely green, kind of knew you would fit it in someplace and I think it will be perfect. Oh, almost forgot. The mustard floral dress looks especially lovely on you, it is a keeper...and I think is called the baby doll style, but I might be wrong. It's a style I am very much drawn too.

    EIise, that yellow/gold dress is exactly late 1950's, yes I'm old but I remember that style so well. It's gorgeous, I wonder if those who dress authors for period performances use your site. If not they're missing out.

    Lov, lov, lov the neutral color of your bench and think this would be perfect for your cabinet as well. This way, when entering the room, the eye will be drawn to (colors of) the content of the cabinet and the lovely surrounding objects / fabrics / colors, instead of cabinet first.

I love how the large mirror defines the cocktail area and you will have such a cozy dining area that will open up to a larger table when needed. Such a great use of space - love to see how this slowly comes together as you find just the right pieces for your decorating vision. 😊 until next time ❀ enjoy your rainy DIY weekend fun 😊
