Just a heads up, i discovered recently that one of the ceo of scentbird (Mariya Nurislamova) is involved in a what looks like a cult with pretty harmful beliefs (underlying homophobia, racism and fatphobia) ! Love the video as always tho :)
I would say not the thriftong that has ever been weird but have had a few creepo interactions that made it weird 😢!
Thank you! I appreciate the info - I’ll look into it 💕
I went to one that was just PACKED with stuff and not very organized. It was in like a strip mall of offices, so there were different rooms to go into It was dark and just gave me the ick
My favorite flower scent in the world is Jasmine smells so pretty and lovely. I did recently for Valentine’s Day I got a strawberry 🍓 pound cake gift set from Bath and Body works from my partner and it smells amazing!
Me struggling to type while my hands are tied
LOL 👹
@@KathleenIllustrated wat are we besties or is my Stockhome syndroom kicking in
You wouldn't have had to tie my hands lol. 😂❤😊
I too cheer when I drive past a ‘Hell Is Real’ road sign.
It’s the law!!!
An international law at that 🇨🇦
CAUTION!!! DON'T WEAR THE PEARLS WITH THE PERFUME!!!
Perfume can damage natural pearls. Just an FYI in case you weren't aware already, we don't want to see your pretty necklace get ruined!
Much Love
🤍💟💟💟🤍❣🤍💟💟💟🤍
Thank you thank you!!!! 🙏🏼
I would look up how to care for pearls someone told me they can "die" if not stored properly. I believe she knew what she was talking about but I didn't.
Amber jewelry also requires special treatment and should be researched prior to wearing. 😉
@@KathleenIllustrated and according to a friend who works with jewelry pearls should be the last thing you put on and the first thing you take off.
Also, i don't think it's good for the pearls to be mixed w metal bc they can get scratched. Beautiful but delicate!
"Not much surprises me anymore. I grew up with unsurprised internet access." 😂
Cracked me up girl! New Sub here! 😂❤
As a person from Ohio, Cincinnati is pretty cool. The art museum is awesome, and Jungle Jim's is always a good time! There is a lot to do in Cinci
I concur and I live 12 hrs away. We went for a lifting competition and then we went back 4 years later for a concert. It's a fantastic, underrated city.
That floral dress with the cutout is EVERYTHING and you look STUNNING in it!!! I gasped when we got to see the full length shot. 10/10
dawww what the heck! Thanks!
That cut out dress was the biggest score of all. Perfect fit on you. I hope you enjoy wearing it many times. ❤
My jaw dropped
I've lived on both coasts but always return to Cincinnati. It's a unique flavor.
already feeling seen by the threatening religious midwestern billboard experience
Hell is real(ly cool!!!!)
I'm from the UK, so those big ass signs about Hell etc were a whole different thing!
Being from the UK, you should look up the story of “Touchdown Jesus” that stood along I-75, outside of Cincinnati, Ohio. It’s some poetic justice, LOL!
@@Anne-yh6yn Holy halftime! That's hilarious!
@@Anne-yh6yn I work on the other side of the highway from that infamous spot and LOVE to remind people it was the church, not Hustler, that got struck by lightning.
That silk bag is a jewelry holder the center tube is for rings 💗
!!! THANK YOU! That makes so much sense 🤩
Yeah, I have a smaller version, and that's exactly what it was sold as.
I have one, never knew what it was, always thought it was a badly designed wallet purse thing lol!! Thank you!
Oh, i thought it was a bible case for an old school family bible
I thought it was an old pad/tampon holder, like the kind with a belt…jewelry sounds more fun.
"You can taste the ghosts!"
Wonderful 😬😂
😋👌
To be fair, Cincinnati is kinda just like that.
Always taste the ghosts.
Best way to check the quality.
@@goblinwizard735 😂
I LOVE those weird little, uncurated thrift stores! So many unhinged items.
I once went to a thrift store that was also once a house, and they did the most brilliant thing! Upstairs was all women's clothes and 3 former bedrooms. The first room was all size small clothes, the second room, all size medium, and the third room was all size large and larger!!! It made shopping SO much easier, and the generous sized bathroom was made over into a lovely changing room!! 10 out of 10!!!
There is a very strange Vintage Warehouse in East London which is really reaaaally hard to find and then once you get there it feels like you are doing something illegal, because it's through a garage door.
This sounds… RIGHT UP MY ALLEY. Do you know how one might find this location? No pressure to share your secrets but if you feel inclined, feel free to email me! 💕
@sophiebradley4372 - where in London? It’s my 2nd home & I’ll be there in less than a month- I want to go there! TIA! Jet 😘🧡
@@KathleenIllustrated I'm sorry, I didn't realise but it closed in 2022 it was called Easy End Thrift Store. I'll be sure to recommend actually open ones in the future!
@@sophiebradley4372 - Bummer! 🤷🏼♀️ c’est le vie, I’m sure I’ll find other treasures! J. 😘🧡
I went to that thrift store was being sold to the last owner and she was the sweetest! I got the most beautiful mauve pink trench coat and real gold vintage ear rings ❤️ I wear my trench coat for spring and the ear rings are my Christmas classics now 🥲
This made me realize just how many excessively weird thrift/vintage stores there are in Cincinnati. There’s also quite a few antique malls and several MASSIVE thrift stores here.
I kinda want to make a Cincy thrift tier list 🤔
You “woohoo”ing the HELL IS REAL sign is why you’re my favorite CZcamsr ❤
bahaha it’s the law! You must praise the billboard!
@@KathleenIllustratedthere's a sign in Hell: "OHIO IS REAL!" 😆
nice counter to the "Touch Down Jesus" that literally got struck by lightening and is now a Hug Me Jesus statue (Monroe, OH near Trader's World)
That sign means you either are leaving or returning to Columbus. It's sort of like a welcome to Columbus sign. He'll is real... and you are here.
hello worldddd, what a TRANSITION!! DAYUM!
Cincinnatian here and oh my god, funnily enough when I started watching you a few months ago I was thinking about places around here you’d find interesting things from I immediately thought of New2You. Ha! Excellent choice on that St Vincent de Paul also. It’s easily one of the best in the area. That aisle you found the watermelon trivets at…you can just sense that’s there’s good stuff buried in there but it’s so overwhelming! Next time check out Flamingo Haven and Riverside antique mall. Also, if you’ve never been to Traders World near Mason I highly suggest in a few weeks when it starts to warm up more. It’s a gold mine of antiques and vintage stuff at the outdoor booths.
It was so interesting to watch what you found at places I go to frequently haha! but super fun video :)
Thank you for this info, I think it was the traders world and the antique mall down the road we hit once and it was crazy the stuff they have. I'll have to make a note to check out some of those others.
Actually it wasn't traders world, that's on the list to go to, it was some unhinged flea market by the river we went to
Damn, I didn't think that floral dress was going to go so hard!
I was not expecting that level of spice from something with a nearly identical print to my grandmother's chair.... but daaaang. That with the pearls? Where are we? The Ritz?
It's giving glamorous young widow of an elderly millionaire who died under suspicious circumstances. Which is the esthetic I can only dream to achieve in my wildest dreams.
Best comment! 🥇
2:56 it’s a travel jewelry case. The pockets are for earrings and necklaces and the “handle” you were holding is where you’re meant to keep rings
18:09 the house in the frame is actually a thing called filet crochet and it’s a painstaking process of building an image up with empty crochet blocks and filled crochet blocks on a grid :)
Somebody spent some time on that and it's so cute!
Can we talk about the audacity for an average 80’s sweater to be (originally) priced at 48 in a random dusty midwestern ghost sorority house 😭💀 that’s a stretch even for here in Brooklyn.
This is the kind of thing that gets me down about the surge in popularity of thrifting, people especially larger organizations think they have the right to charge whatever because they see the virality when they’re probably not even cleaning/mending let alone adding retail value to garments. It gives all of us that are subsistence collectors/sellers who survive off this and actually care (by upping the *value* not just the price) a bad name 🥲
The chaos, The KK Slider style music, the deviantart and Neopets call backs. This was the video for me.
The grip Neopets fairies had on me
The music is Louie Zong, I believe! His stuff is great!!
I’m originally from three-ish hours away from there in WV and the “thrift/antique store that’s just some guy’s house” makes me soooo homesick
I went to one in WV that so packed they hung wedding dresses from the ceiling.
@@CaraBolley ahhhh! What town was it in? This sounds amazing lol
Last shepard thrift in Summersville . It's also great if your looking for leather jackets or boots.
tournament suggestion: I am currently deep into furby...no explaining it, i am thirty years old, why. nobody knows. but maybe a best (or most cursed) furby version, there are like 7 or 8 different models including special edition gremlin ones, horrible drumstick babies, its all good. there's also a bunch of different color/theme ones as well!
That little cream satin thing you found in the first store is for packing your jewelry for travel. The thing in the middle unfastens on one end and you slide your rings on it.
The Japanese necklace with the white jumper at the end there is a great combination. Personally, I wouldn't wear another necklace with it to protect it. That's one you could still rock in your last days.
That last dress was made for you!! Ngl though that robe reminds me of the one my husband had to wear when he got an endoscopy 🤷♀️😂
Best comment ever 😂
My hubby's uncle Doug lives in Ohio, and I heard it is the only state you can own a pet skunk. Ohio things I know. I like stores that are in houses they are fun.
Can confirm. Had a friend in grade school who had two pet baby skunks.
That silky bag is a travel jewelry case. You put your rings on the cylinder in the middle. Also, if you'd found the doily on its own (not framed), it probably would have cost you more. ; )
That ‘hello world’ typed in the paper with the music syncing, ah-mazing!👩🍳💋
OBVIOUSLY loved the accidental package haul at the end of the video. The Biwa Pearl stacked necklaces were perfection. Also that floral dress with the open chest! AHH!
'You're not gonna believe it, you're not gonna believe it, when I saw it with my eyes I couldn't even believe it' is on repeat in my brain at 1.38am EST (Melbourne, Australia). Love a good earworm. Also the needlepoint picture is amazing! ❤
bahahahah so sorry about that 🧠 🐛
7:26 oh my gosh, your baby has the most soulful, beautiful eyes ever. Love your travel videos.
Awwww I’ll give him a pet for you!
Another great video. I found a 1977 book at the charity shop this week called step by step presents. Full of 70s vibes, including the suggestion to make cheerful clowns out of items including a toilet roll tube and crepe paper.
I want to look this one up. Ebay probably has a copy.
@@Starry_Night_Sky7455 not to do a shameless plug but my latest video i do a flick through of the book. So you could see some of it before deciding to buy. 😊
Thanks for kidnapping us to take along on your adventures. Even if it was very stinky.
That vase would be sooooo pretty with some flippy floppy tulips!
my jaw DROPPED when you pulled out the framed doily house OMG. its so gorgeous
As a kid who grew up in rural Southeastern Kentucky, Cincinnati was amazing and I moved there as soon as I could lol. I guess what is exciting or appealing is all relative to what you've got around.
First time watcher. You're fun. I'm up on the edge of Amish country near Massillon. Lots of antique markets and thrifts all of the way up here just off the highways. If you make it up here there is a lot of cool history.
Those words... weirdest + thrift store together are sooo interesting... Announcing cool and amazing stuff is inside... luv those words...
Wow this was a sensory delight I actually was fascinated watching the ad and I generally avoid ads. I like your aesthetic and that last doily find was so unusual and suits your decor so wonderfully. It’s slightly awkward and artful and sentimentally almost Halloween, gotta love it.
I saw 5 clown dolls in my local Thrift shop today. I thought Kathleen would love these but I bet they’re haunted. 👻Hey stay stinky. ❤
My whole house is currently sick. My 4 yr old is watching trolls, my 12 yr old is playing minecraft and I'm watching Kathleen ❤
7:20 💚cozy🐶💚
11:57 you drill it in water so it don't break
12:57 ✨✨✨
I bought pear inc for my scent for 2014 and I cannot stop using it!!! If you continuously spray this on clothing (like a coat) the dry down on it is soooo delicious and juicy. I think fruit scents are trending this year because I’ve also seen a lot of lychee perfumes come out.
ooo you may be onto something! I luvvvv “not a perfume” as well… kinda the same but without the pear 😂
@@KathleenIllustrated- many use “It’s Not A Perfume” as a base cos it makes your fragrance last longer. I want to say it’s mostly ambroxan which people buy specifically for doing this. Oh & at TJ Maxx & Marshall’s you can often find JHAG frag for a steal! Sadly my skin eats frag & even tho I love their scents they don’t last on me whatever way I try😕. Jet 😘🧡
@@RnR-Rebelspray your clothes with perfume instead, especially the bits close to your body so the heat gets to it.
@@michellebyrom6551 - I’ve done that, helps a little but doesn’t last unless I use an “extrait” which is maybe 20% alcohol unlike most parfum which is mostly alcohol. Prob w/ that is essential oils can stain your clothes so I have to be very careful! Thanks for the suggestion, I appreciate it! J. XXX 😘🧡
Just saying… my favorite childhood animated crush is totally Astro Boy!!!
How glorious was he?!!???
Ayyy I'm from Cincinnati and def recognized that Goodwill lol
The shout out to your mom 😅” you did your best “😂😂😂 killed me
Oh no, not the Quefe beads lmao....That's become an in joke in the Kandi/Decora makers community
My favorite secondhand furniture/decor shop in my small town is just in a 100 yr old house, with creaky uneven floors and I love it to pieces!
Hit me right in the nostalgia-feels: "unsupervised internet access" and "furries on Deviant Art".
Love the collages too, btw. :-)
Wow, that dress on you is Fabulous! I love the two necklaces together! My Grandma took me to the Portland OR Goodwill when I was 8 and I got a 1920-30s cookbook. That got me started on thrifting and baking!
Agreed! I’ll be visiting next month!❤ I so love thrifting in Portland! There’s a cute shop in Sandy, OR w/mostly banker’s hours and an awesome & huge Goodwill in Gresham, OR. There’s a lot of money in that general area and the stupid-rich donate great stuff!
Good on you to get a dupe of the pencil cactus. Not only are the real ones toxic, but their sap can also cause temporary blindness! Fun! : )
eeeeek ain’t nobody got time for THAT! 🙃
I've had pencil cacti for 30 years and never had any problem with poison either for myself or my kitties
Greetings from a fellow Ohioan. My kids are off from school today for the eclipse. My youngest, Charlie, sweetly woke me up early - as they only do when they don’t have to get ready for school - and tells me, “Mommy! I want to watch Kathleen!” 😊 Thank you for making content that’s so entertaining, my 8 year old loves it and I’ve binge watched every video.
I wanna say a third of all vintage/antique shops in the UK are kinda like this, another third are big ol drafty warehouse things and maybe the remaining third are more 'shop-looking'
Omg this is bringing me back to my college days at UC! Went to New to you a couple of times and can say there are indeed many ghosts
Your videos bring me so much joy! ❤ I loved seeing all the goodies - that dress looks so fabulous on you💃
OH and this is my first time seeing you!! I had to subscribe! You are my kind of people 😂🎉😊
I love your videos so so much! Thank you, for making me so happy!❤
Oh yeah, was at the Thrift, was a rocking chair rocking by itself. I got a clerk and asked her if she saw anything. YUP. She was slightly freaked out. I'm almost used to it, but never comfortable. The property I live on is busy to the point I hung several crosses on my bookcase facing the door to keep them out. It helps.
Gonna have to try out some of those stores next time I'm in Cincy
I love both necklaces, and they do look pretty cool stacked, but pearls are pretty soft, watch or for scratch damage.
My addition to the “characters that scared you as a child” tournament has gotta be the Rat guy from Psalty the Singing Songbook.. truely horrifying for my developing brain, many nightmares featured him🥴😂💀
That little satin purse is for your jewellery I think. Your rings go onto that handle thingy. So cute!
I love the frank lloyd wright shirt! And the whole rest of the video :)
So pumped to learn about new jewelry places!
I loveeee this whole style. I appreciate you sharing packages and companies you really vibe with, cuzzz I like your vibe mmmmkay 💗🦋
Kathleen!!! If you go back to Japan I found the CUTEST vintage shop in Nara WITH ACTUAL VINTAGE JAPANESE CLOTHING 🖤 the shop is called “Spark” and all I could think about was you! Love you and your vids 🫶🖤
oh my gosh thank you!! adding this to the list!
Kathleen, I recently discovered your channel and I need you to know you’re filling the hole that jenna marbles left in my heart. I love your content. Always happy to find another louie zong fan :)
Girl....I am in Lexington KY. I am always excited to go to Cinci!!!
I normally don’t always package opening but you always just love and appreciate things in a special way because you are you ❤ also what a WILD thrift experience
So beautiful!!! 💘I like the biwako pearls, it looks gorgeous🤩And the necklace fitted the white sweater well! So chic!💗💗💗
Amaizing vídeo!! I’m IN LOVE with the pearl necklace, it’s so precious 😍
This is my 1st vid of yours... what caught my attn was 'Thrift' and 'Cincy' as I love thrift shopping and I'm close to Cincy lol and I subscribed immediately! You are a delight and love your energy! May the Thrift Gods continue to bless you (and us all)!
Kathleen !!! This vid was so fun!! My jaw was on the floor the whole time at all your wonderful goodies, I’m in love with them all! Especially the jewelry pieces 😍 Also that art you thrifted reminds me of a shirt I have with doily art of a cottage house and it’s like my fav thrift find, and def a weird one haha.
My heart started to flutter when I saw the base with the frill…..and then the floral dress 🤤 amazing thrifts finds
Having fun watching you having fun! 😊
I love the sound of those fragrances, you can clearly describe those, thank you 🇨🇦❤️
watching your video on a Sunday evening is pure joy and a perfect end to a perfect day 🥰
I'm so glad you had a perfect day my beautiful friend
If you're ever in Canton, you should check out Majestic Turnaround. Vintage mall inside of an old bowling alley. I HAVE spent an entire day in there. And Walkie Talkie is a great coffee shop down the road :)
Love this!!! Adding it to the list :)
5:32 Look at the little spirit orbs you have floating around your head. Looks like you brought the ghosties back with you to your car. :D Yay, free ghosts!
I'm really needing to see you do both sides of the Scrap Exchange in Durham, NC. crazy place!
tournament idea: childhood movies that you HATED/were terrified of with no real reason: mine are annie and the little mermaid
Annie had no freaking pupils! WTH? Scary indeed! Look up Mattel’s “Saucy Expressions” doll!😱
I just wanted to say over the past couple weeks I’ve fallen down the Kathleen Illustrated CZcams rabbit hole, and I’m glad to be here! Your videos are so cozy and delightful, I’ve really been enjoying having them on while I crochet. And you’ve definitely inspired me to be much more thoughtful about styling and approaching an outfit through a more considered lens. Thank you for your videos! Also, I would very much enjoy sending you a cool crochet piece to add to your wardrobe if you want one!
Aw!!! Welcome! I really appreciate this & would be honored. There’s absolutely no pressure! ⭐️💕
The little silk bag thing is a travel jewelry holder/bag. So rings go on the long bit in the middle and it poppers on and off to take the rings off. :)
You popped up and i also live in Ohio..Not far from Cincinnati actually, now i feel the need to find that thrift store..lol..Thanks for sharing and hope you have a great week
I rarely ever comment on videos but, I just found your channel today and you are so funny and quirky and I have been having so much fun watching your videos fr fr
The thrift store at Terrell State Hospital is in an old building and has a bunch of rooms like the thrift store. It looks like that store! It's only open one day a month and the public loves it. I know at least one thrift store owner who buys all the jeans she can get her hands on. She doubles the price (minimum!) And puts them in her store to resell. She is a former employee, and on principle I don't shop in her store. That sounds like a good business practice, but the rest of the people who shop in the TSH store are there because it is what they can afford. It makes me sad that she does that.
I just came across your channel by chance and I must say as a fellow Ohioan, I enjoyed this very much. New subscriber! 😀
Not me going to Cincy next weekend for a wedding and wondering what stores to look for besides St Vincent...😊 Thank you for this !
The St. Vincent de Paul on the west side of Cincinnati is awesome, followed by the Mason location (just minutes from Kings Island) and the Evendale location, next door to a “valley thrift”(where you’re not allowed to bring in a water bottle-even on a day that’s over 100°F!) which is just “meh.” You could start at the St. Vincent de Paul on State Route 42, in Mason, then drive down to Sharonville, to the New Life Furniture Thrift Store, and then drive further down 42, to the Evendale, Saint Vincent de Paul. Have fun!
@@Anne-yh6yn I usually go to the one by my stepson's house, I just know it's the Bridgetown area, it's huge and I do well there but always like knowing about the little hole in the walls
So glad to see that hell is indeed still real since I last made the drive from Columbus to Cincy last fall.
I definitely thought the thrift store was like, a Baptist church when you first walked up 😂
😂
When you were showing the flower vase, I reminded myself to look for a cute vase, and then you said it was handmade in Poland!? Like what? I'm from Poland! 🥹🤩 need to find this style of vases. Love you!
dawww! How cool! 💕⭐️
I live very close to New to You. Funny to see it in a video of yours! St. Vincent and Flamingo Haven are my favorites in the area. Glad they made it into your visit
i love ur channel sm
Not sure why CZcams pointed me towards this channel but glad they did! Kathleen is awesome!
i really enjoyed the little po box haul at the end, a really nice way to extend a video that doesnt have quite enough of a runtime
holy cow that filet crochet piece at the end! I've never seen anything that intricate!
Knowing how long it takes to crochet anything, the 10.99 price was a knife to my heart.
I miss this drive! I haven't been down there since the pre-times. Granted I'm farther north so it's more of a drive - but now I have places I NEED to go next time we are down there (other than Jungle Jims)
I haven’t been to the weirdest thrift store, but I have been to the St. Vincent de Paul. I was very curious about the thrift store that you went to where you got the planter and the other gorgeous things! I’m all about trying new places!
Stores in houses are my fave! I've found some amazing ones in Utah, Colorado and Nevada in old houses and they are always so fun. Plus I always end up scoring at least one cool thing.
