I use I tunes a lot for my music and one drive for backup. I also use Microsoft account to do searches online to get free I tunes. Sure dose help me save a lot of money. I get points for a search and doing Daily stuff with them. You can redeem points for gift cards. i use them for Walmart and go to Walmart.com to buy I tunes. If you don't have an account with them I would recommend Microsoft account to do bing searches. I don't do a lot of mixing where am from. I live near Harrisburg Pennsylvania. I do it sometimes with the remixes I have. Also this is DJ Derek Rentschler if you are wondering.

@DJ Criss I am not aloud to film a lot of my weddings unfortunately. It's also the dead season here in NC. Our weddings dont pick back up til March. Winter is a bunch of educational stuff and then spring summer fall is gigs. Refer to the gig log playlist.

@DJ Criss I have another youtube channel called by my real name. I did a speaker test and have other videos. Can't video people at dances because some people don't like to be on youtube. That is why I don't do videos of my gigs. sorry for the mix up.

Nice vid. I use iTunes, IDjPool in Virtual DJ Pro, and lastly I feel is the best DJ pool, XMiX Remix Service. I started collecting their vinyl back when they started in the early 90s. Unreal remixes, tools, Megamixes, and any other type of track you need. You earn crate keys everyday and they run specials. Regular digital downloads are super easy and intuitive. They have the Quantum 3 software where you can setup automatic downloads if you want. Thanks for sharing the DJ culture with such positive vibes young fella. Keep spinnin’ and be safe!

Thanks for the advice! DMS is legit for older music and edits. Just majorly refreshed my 70s , 80s & 90s crates. Totally worth the $60. I’ve probably downloaded well over $500 worth of music in just a few hours. I think BPM will always be my go to for new tracks, but man what a goldmine.

Finally someone that also uses iTunes. As bad as iTunes is, the integration with all DJ software makes it a winner.
I've seen so many people use some kind of weird folder structure in their harddrives while I just let iTunes do the organisation of the files.
I also fill out artist, track, genre...
About Dropbox: you could also install your own cloud with Nextcloud or Owncloud. I use a Raspberry Pi with an external harddrive that is the Nextcloud server. My music gets synced between my computers.
My recordbox library is also synced to it, so I do my beatgrids on my desktop and when I'm about to spin on my laptop, it's also there.
The only downside is you have to make sure iTunes and rekordbox is closed on the computer you're not using. Else it can causes conflicts. (Like update on one computer, and before the other is updated , do a change there also, on the old db etc)
Nice video. I use BPM supreme because I got the black Friday half price promo of last year.
I'll check out DMS when I can afford it. Not many bookings yet.

its all good to download music but it has to be reprocessed to make sure volume and tone levels are correct as a lot of down loads are way too high in volume and does not sound good as it causes distortion which you dont need

The problem with iTunes downloads is that it is actually illegal due to not having a commercial license for the music. It’s just like using Spotify premium. But with dj pools the record pool holds the license to the song

great tip on the weddings folders, am gonna use that....I love how you listed each portion of the ceremony and reception songs playlist to be able to show clients when they got no idea on the songs to be used for each category. I usually don't do high school dance but more like elementary events, but it is al good idea to do playlist of the request list. what do you use to get their request list ahead of the event? love to know, that would be a lot of help. Great video so much information. How you did the subforlders on itunes and you mention about dropbox can you do a video how to use dropbox as ornization playtform to sync all your music across devices, very curious about it on how is done. thank you again for great tips and video...

My biggest problem with music pools is the high bar for entry for the occasional weekend warrier. If you have income from being a DJ, week after week, a Music pool can be great and keep you current. However for a part time production sound guy, due to copyright, we don't provide DJ services. We do provide bluetooth connectivity if the client has a playlist for between musicians. Unless something has changed, they don't have a service that permits suspension of services for the weekends or months you don't use the service. Just looked at the links. Looks like the price has come down recently from what it used to be for all the ASCAP and BMI fees for public performance. Those used to be priced for not the DJ market but for the broadcast and concert market, which was no where near the realm of the weekend occasional DJ. If I were to DJ, it would be very seasonable for May, June, July, and August. Do you know if any of the services have rates for the occasional DJ? The other issue in the past was DRM that would not work offline. Hopefully that has been fixed too. Being at a gig, and not having a connection to stream or validate a license was a show stopper.

    Based off my experience:
BPMSupreme: Diverse Library. Good for 2000's and newer Hip Hop. Club Favorites, TOP 40, Rock & Holiday and some Classic Hip Hop. Includes Originals, Dirty/Clean, Intro/Outro, Short/Long edits of most songs and Exclusive Remixes and BPM Transitions. Overall good start for beginners DJ looking to build a diverse library quickly. *Note* Be warned though, i have heard this record pool may be having Licensing issues as many songs have been removed from the pool.*
BPMLatino: Really good for DJ's spinning Latin nights/crowds. Pretty much all Latin Genre's available. Good amount of exclusives. Includes Originals, Dirty/Clean, Intro/Outro, Short/Long edits of most songs Exclusive Remixes and BPM Transitions.
ClubKillers: Pricey, but very good for Club bangers. Peak hour/Headliner DJ's will benefit from the Exclusive Remixes here. This is go to for floor filler remixes of TOP 40 and popular bangers.
CrateConnect: *Disclaimer* Haven't had a subscription for a while, but used this to build library back in the day. Seemed to be more Hip Hop focused, lots of Classic/New Hip Hop, Top 40, Dancehall, Reggae & newer House. Includes Originals, Dirty/Clean, Intro/Outro, Short/Long edits of most songs Exclusive Remixes and BPM Transitions.
    Hope this helps.

I get my music from Beatport for house/Trance and EDM (mp3s) and For the classics music. I go to Mp4 remix,Vjstreet.com,Xtendamix and Provieos4djs.com. Ive been Djing for 30 plus yrs. I started spinning with Tapes to records to Sreato,Traktor. A lot of the pools charge alot money for a little bit of the classic Jams But never have the best variety in music. Ive look at all of the popular dj pools and they come up short. Bpm,Dj City and alot of others Ive looked into. The pools charge to much for the same music. Tip-alot of Djs dont know this,But Music, record pools get the same music and remixs.

    • @officialJonDivine

that's like 50% true. Each record pool has exclusive artists/remixers that you can only get on their site. If each site has an average of 3 remixers per pool, you could possibly be loosing about 20+ possible new AWESOME edits a month.....That's a heavy loss when it comes to music

    • @DJTeddyg1
      @DJTeddyg1 Před 4 lety

@@officialJonDivine Not really. Pools have the rights to different remixs and artest. But for a remixer like me you want more exposer . So you work with different pools to get your music out. The same gos with Djs. If you go with one or two pools your market of exposer 10 to 15 percent. If you want to be successful you want more sites to get more Djs to play the remixs in all venues. Theres no heavy loss because pools make you get a huge amount of music or bundles for a monthly fee.

Transition trax? So you basicly use a pre produced track to do the mixing for you? On todays mixers you have a ton of FX and offcourse the pitch fader.. Isnt those tools suppose to help one do those transitions by using DJ skills? I now understand how some DJs mixes super aggressive between generes and BPMs without a single slip up, or even without moving their body to the music..

    • @DJRickWeb
      @DJRickWeb  Před 4 lety +2

Transition tracks do large bpm songs that are not possible with simple tempo blending. Like 128 to 86. You use them to make jumps or to break down the tempo in your set. Every DJ uses a couple in their sets

I think it's heavily dependent on where you DJ.
In my area the music is sent in between DJs across social media platforms such as Facebook, WhatsApp, ect...
Now the thing is, if you mainly play the type of music that you'd find on BPMSupreme n' stuff, the crowd is most likely not gonna be satisfied, that's why we have sort of underground groups for sharing that music.
Because even though you can find music specifically for that event, it might not be enough.
So the "solution" is to be looking for groups that share that kind of media...
The other DJs whom make edits and remixes (or even original beats) for these parties don't wanna share their music because they know many other DJs just grab that music but give nothing instead.
They want it to be friendly.
So generally, in order to get relevant music here, we need to work and share music back rather than pay for it.
