  • I admit, not a lot of appreciation for this fujifilm camera on CZcams. So I'm here to educate you guys on the beauty that is the PASM dial on the X-S10.
    More specifically, I'll go over the custom C1-C4 and give a general explanation on how it works and how to use.
    For those of you who are wondering how to find that dial icon at 3:30
    go into menu - IQ settings - edit/save custom setting - edit/check setting - select the custom slot
    Hope this video finds its way to those who need it. For those who don't, a little bit of appreciation on my acting ability would be greatly appreciated.

    I have several Fujifilm cameras, including the x100v, but once I got the x-s10 it quickly replaced all of them. The greatly extended settings options for the C1 to C4 are a game changer, and I immediately miss them when I use the X100v, x-e3 etc. Plus the x-s10 has a great grip and a proper, big AF-ON button for back button focusing. Love it.

    I’ve got the XS 10 and I do love it I know it’s a little bit of a shift away from the traditional Fuji film setup I get that. But I kind of like it and I like the fact that this camera is a little bit different to the other Fuji cameras.

    thanks a lot for this clear video. I'm a new sx10 owner and love it, coming from the xt20. I cannot find how to customize the dials on the camera especially the right hand ones, the front dial on the grip does nothing. the left dial has onky simulation change default. Could you explain that in a video, or in answering this comment please?

  • @firstMillo
    @firstMillo Před 2 lety +6

    Hey Jay,
    you nailed it! The extended possibilities to customize your user profiles on the X-S10 are gorgeous!
    You also can choose different focus modes like AF-S on C1 and AF-C or even MF on C2. This comes so handy and lets you react to the scene so quickly!
    To check for the profile names you can simply push the C button as on the X100V but I never had a problem to remind my 4 settings as:
    C1: Everyday slow
    C2: Everyday fast
    C3: Landscapes
    C4: Black & White
    Great video and thanks!

    • @JayRegular

    • @firstMillo
      @firstMillo Před 2 lety

      With small kids the slow and fast setting helps me a lot to get a nice shot in every situation.
      I also keep my minimal shutter speed at 1/60 on slow and 1/250 on fast to get away with a lower ISO if there is only "slow" movement.
      I love my X100V but my X-S10 is so covenient in that way...
      Jay, faster days will come for sure!
      Cheers an best wishes :-)

      This is my current Fuji camera. I am down to one. I have sold my other cameras. I think the best Fuji camera was the XT3. But for myself I find the X-S10 to be the camera for me. It is good enough for what I want to do. Yes there are things that I wish it had but that has been true of every Fuji camera that I have owned. PASM doesn’t bother me. I have used it before. Right now this the camera for me. I won’t upgrade or change unless Fuji comes up with some new hardware like sensor or processor upgrade. I have always wanted an APS-C camera with a stacked sensor.

    Is there a function to press a front or rear dial and switch its function to ISO?
    I usually shoot full manual, controlling ISO with the wheel, using up and down bottom isn't for me.
    If it's possible, can the same be done with the other dial to change the WB?

    • @JayRegular
      @JayRegular  Před 2 lety +1

      No, unlike the X100V you cannot set that feature because the dials cannot be pressed down. You have to press the ISO button then use the rear command dial to cycle through the values. If you want to set white balance, there is a button next to the eyepiece, press it to cycle through the white balance options.

    It’s a shame that it’s not possible to set the custom profiles for video. That said, I just mainly shoot in aperture priority and set C4 as my main stills settings as it’s right next to video. Also I’ve changed the left dial from film simulations to ISO, so all settings for the exposure triangle have a dedicated dial. The ISO button is now used for white balance.

    • @JayRegular
      @JayRegular  Před 2 lety

      Nice Jon, I didn't know that you could set ISO to the left dial, I was under the impression that it would always be film simulation in scertain shooting modes and exposure compensation in some others. Good to see some smart customisation going on!

    The problem with this camera being 40 megapixels is it picks up a lot of detail. I still would prefer an XT4 or even an access 10 because I think 26 megapixels is the sweet spot for portrait photography you don’t need more megapixels for people Photography you actually need less. Why do you need less megapixels well 40 megapixels will pick up that hair sticking out the end of their nose or that pimple on the side of their face that you really don’t want to see. In other words megapixels equals detail on someone’s face and sometimes there is just too much detail. Also just looking at your photos these people are pretty good looking and that actually helps the one determining factor for often for a good wedding photos is the subject matter and that might seem harsh but …just saying 😊
