It's okay, it can be scary, but trust me, it's gonna be worth it, it looks big and painful but it's not. You'll feel lile there's literally nothing there. If you're worried about the fit, you can research different types of cups you think that'll suit you. The vagina walls are made to expand so you don't have to worry about that part, the only thing is that it can be a bit difficult and overwhelming when putting it in for the first few times of using it, but you can succeed with practice!
Tbh it’s worth giving it a shot :)) it took me maybe 2 days to figure it out and holy fuck sometimes I genuinely forget I’m on my period
Same I'm gonna try cups next cycle
I think it's great, it has different fits, you can use it For years and saves so much Money, If it has the right fit, you don't even feel it. The First few days were kinda uncomfortable and weird, but practice ist the key, don't forget the lube
Im allergic to pads and tampons, so menstrual cups are absolute life savers! They never leak, never smell, never are visible, so much better for the environment, and so much more cost efficient.

@@Izzy_Marigold yup that’s perfect, if it continues to hurt after a lot of times doing it you might be putting it in wrong (meaning maybe having it slanted) but if it’s your first couple time it’s normal
I love that other alternatives are being made. I have a permanent rip/cut down there from the plastic teeth of the tampon and it's in such a delicate and sensitive area, that it took FOREVER to heal. And sometimes unfortunately it rips/tears back open again and really hurts. So I'm happy that alternatives are being made so that I don't have to keep using plastic tampons when there is nothing else. (I have been sticking to ones that come in cardboard or pads since that incident. I like those ones way more)
Omg please tell me you have gone to a gyno!!! I know it’s scary but no reason you should have to suffer!!! they might be able to prescribe a cream or gel paste something to help it heal permanently!!! If you have SA trauma or medical trauma, even just going and explaining your symptoms they should be able to help! They can’t FORCE you into doing a vaginal exam (which I imagine would hurt anyways because of the speculum) I’ve had nurses try to literally bully me (when I was a minor, too) into doing vaginal exams for birth control & my post partum check up x two. (Teen mom, two kids before I turned 18, lots of trauma) Not only was I still too sore to even think of getting into the stirrups, let alone let someone insert something that looks like a medieval torture device. The nurse tried saying “idk if the doc will prescribe your birth control today without a vaginal check” & I said okay…. And ended up getting my prescription anyways.
Doctors suck & will sometimes gaslight you into doing things you don’t know or understand or just down right don’t want to do. That doesn’t mean you shouldn’t get it checked out!! I hope you find a solution soon. The cardboard applicators are the ones that always tear me up for some reason
As someone who only used pads until last year bc tampons hurt, menstrual cups are amazing and way better compared to pads and tampons! It's not as hard to use as it looks and you can't feel it inside. Whatever works for you, works for you. As long as it’s unscented, you’re using it as instructions read and change it when it needs to be changed to avoid TSS and yeast infections. I’ve used pads, tampons and period cups.
Will admit I stopped using the period cup after the first use but gave it another shot a month back and really liked it. Was also at the beach and didn’t want to deal with seawater being soaked up by a cotton menstrual product. I didn’t have leakage, didn’t feel it there and didn’t feel rushed to change a soggy pad or red-stringed tampon. Didn’t have to use lube as period blood and other…vaginal wetness made it easy to slip in. Takes a bit to get used to putting it in and taking it out and don’t think I’d ever be able to clean it in a public toilet-so that end I’d go tampon or pad. But some have more sensitive nethers or trauma where a menstrual cup would not work. That’s fine, it’s what worked for me.
But it’s great to have options! To accommodate your lifestyle and flow! Really hate when people insult those who use pads making them out to be dirty, when it’s what works for them. It’s great to talk about our own experiences, what works so that the industry can improve menstrual products but not when it’s just hating on a product as if it shouldn’t exist when it does work for some. It’s all about your comfort level and how you want to deal with your period-tampon, pad, period panties, cloth pads, cups or whatever.
Honestly the cup saved my life, idk if there's an mental thing going on but i cant STAND knowing and /feeling/ that im on my period, I used a cup and only have to deal with it 1-2 times per days and I never felt wet ever again. God, I'm really glad it exists, it takes a while to get it right but when you do? It's amazing

For people who are scared. Tampons can be scary at first but they aren’t bad at all. I first used one when I was 11. It might just feel weird at first tho. Just don’t put it in to deep or no deep enough. And make sure your flow is heavier because if it’s not heavy enough it’s going to hurt. And tampons are great for the night time! That way you don’t leak as easily.
Thank you! I’m 11 rn btw hehe
I used tampons from the time I was about 16 to when I was 52 and went through menopause. I used pads for a few years and I found them uncomfortable and inefficient so I decided to give tampons a try. So many people say that tampons hurt. They don’t - but you have to place them correctly and in far enough. It does take a few times to get used to inserting the tampon but once you master it, you do not even feel it - and I used to use the Super Plus size on my heavy days.
I have an 11yr old now & I CAN NOT imagine her using a tampon at this age!
@@jennahobbs2069 I agree about 11 maybe being too young, Jenna, but I guess it all depends on the young lady. Correct placement is the key and that does take practice no matter what age a girl decides to start using them.

You do you, but I will say don't write it out just yet, it took me years to finally want to try one and I'm never looking back. If your reasons are that you are scared, I will say that it's your own body and it's always an upside to know how your body works. As long as your hands and the cup is clean, you won't hurt anything. (Though I will be more careful if you have long nails)

Off topic, but few things are as romantic as changing my wife’s tampon for her, putting a warm steaming cloth on her lower abdomen, bringing her Midol and tea and rubbing her back, while she hurts through this process.
It’s gotten to the point that she almost looks forward to her (seriously painful) periods, as I pamper and take care of her so thoroughly. Sweet girl never even has to get out of bed.
Keep it up my guy , ❤
OK I don’t know why people completely forgot about pads
Is there something called toxic shock it’s pretty much where you put tampon in and it holds up your period flow then the only place you can go is up so the period keeps throwing up and you can get an infection or you could feel extremely nauseous and you can die from it which is why you don’t wear tampons all the time it’s healthy to wear them for a few hours but if you have a heavy flow, you should probably be wearing padded underwear with a pad not tampons. Tampons are supposed to be used for sports like if you are swimming and you’re on your period
I am so scared of putting anything like that inside myself😳. I mean what if I couldn't ever get it out, I choose to stick with napkins.

EDIT: Since this is getting so many likes lemme tell yall that I'm 16 rn so there is no age limit to using the cup every menstruating woman can use it. You just need to research a bit more and be patient with your body if you are younger. That's all😄
How did you get used to the washing and emptying and sterilizing? Just asking.
I wash it under cold water every time I remove to empty it so that's 3 times a day ( i have heavy flow ) I also occasionally wash it in the shower under lukewarm water cause that seems cleaner to me ( hot water locks in smells and stains so be careful to not wash it very often with hot water ). After my cycle ends I sterilize it by boiling and store in the bag provided. It's not hard tbh with pads and tampons it was much more difficult :)

You don't feel it at all. And remember that it's not a small space. The vaginal muscles are very stretchable and are capable passing an entire baby through them. Wearing it doesn't mean your virginity will gone, you just need to look for the right types and size for you and know the proper way to use it (so it will not feel uncomfortable or pain, and it's a silicon so...). I'm a swimmer so I need it, wearing pads when I swim is... A bad thing for me and I got rashes whatever brand pads I use so, this is for me
you guys, human skin isn't silicone and tampons aren't painful to use at all. pads are literal warm bed of bacteria especially during summertime.
Honey, you can't say that about pads, because all they do is collect blood, same as tampons. So bed of bacteria on the outside better then inside .I use pads ,and never ever had a problem.
@@sossanone672 in tropical regions they literally stink. I used pad until 15 when I finally couldn't stand the awful smell. also vagina is naturally slightly acidic and built to keep bacteria dead.
it all depends on the person but the video I believe is talking about practicing how to put on these products while not on your period (which is why a tampon might be uncomfortable and possibly even painful to remove because of being drier than usual. It’s Cotten which is made to absorb)
"aren't painful at all" pls speak for yourself 😄
@@user-kt6yx7ox7z uh I hate to tell u this but.. they aren't supposed to hurt. A lot of anti tampon peeps choose to ignore the fact that if it hurts, it's because you did it wrong
When I first purchased a menstrual cup, I stored it in the bathroom and practised inserting it every time I ✨used✨ the bathroom 🤓
Did it work?
Yeah, did it work?

Dose we need to oil it or water it?

These comments need to learn more about how menstrual cups work. It is only as big as a expanded tampon no its not painful you don't feel it once it's in place, you fold it and can make it only a few centimeters in thickness. It's okay if you don't wanna use one but don't spread misinformation based on your own preferences
I got my period a few years ago and during that time I only used pads and occasionally tampons because I felt self conscious about wearing pads in public since I have a heavy flow and have to wear more absorbent pads. Tampons do not hurt, only when you are dry down there it hurts once you take it out but by the time you're dry, your period should be light already. Only last month I started using menstrual cups because I was forced to wear them at a camp since I had no tampons or pads around and I didn't wanna ask anyone and now it's really been great. I still haven't gotten my period yet but I'm looking forward to using them since it's eco friendly and it holds my flow! When I used tampons and pads I had to change them every 2-4 hours. I still wear pads at night though (:
I used to wear pads all the time now I tried a tampon out and it was amazing. I barely even felt it in there lol
I am a pads user but not starting today. I mean I am having my period today and now I finally use menstrual cups after doing research, watching videos last month.
It is much more comfortable, not worrying about pads. How itchy it was and changing every two hours fr.
For the pad ladies .... Cut the wings into half before taking of the paper.... So instead of 2 wings you now have 4 ... Pad stays in place bettee
Edit: looking at how many people r noticing my comment ... I wanted to tell you guys that I actually emailed a pad company to get them to do that to their pads so The solution my my problem could become a solution to someone else's. But didn't get a reply back.
That's definitely a good idea! Gotta try it out..
Wow, thank you. It'll help a lot
Wow..i never thought...thanks..
Wow ok. I have been bleeding for like a decade and I never thought this could actually help
tysm!!!! this helps so much 😭
Well I tried tampons for the first time and it wasn’t bad at all, it did feel a bit uncomfortable but as I kept trying it felt as if the tampon wasn’t even there and it dosent leak :) I mean pads are really not my thing because they just get way to messy and uncomfortable at night but I mean that’s just me 🤷♀️
the tampon coming out dry i simply CANNOT that was painful to watch
but tysm for educating others
There’s no way I’m sticking anything up there... :) I’ll stick w a pad ✋✋
Same I mean in the summer I did use a cup once of twice when I went swimming but I'm kinda scared it will get stuck
Same here
It's a discharge that needs to be removed from body ,it's a mechanism that we can't break, so keeping a tapon Or a cup there will make the bacteria infect inside , not a good idea, I agree stick to pads
@@sansashalini9061 well said😊👍👍

Yyyyeeeeaaahh---no thanks,I'm sticking to pads.
I like the cup its so comfortable and there is no smell like pads and tampons sometimes do there smaller sizes also its also reusable ive saved so much money not having to buy pads and tampons.
Haha I just switched to tampons. I personally like them more than pads but I understand why people like pads more! They’re just easier, and can feel less uncomfortable than tampons. But if you want to try tampons, watch a few tutorials and don’t be scared, if you don’t like them then that’s fine, it’s not weird or anything, whatever works for you is the right thing to do :)
I can't stand pads, if I'm gonna be in pain for a week straight I'd prefer to do it without feeling like I'm wearing a diaper lol.
I don’t get my period anymore, but honestly, cups are really comfortable, re-usable, and way to sanitize. You can wear cups for up to twelve hours, and were great for sleeping in overnight. I did have to take them out in the shower, but if you’re sleeping then you can take it out in the morning, or when you get home from work.
Oh hell no I’m terrified of using tampons idk why and the period cup thing I never knew you stick it up there😭💀😳
Pads are the best and safest option
never put this inside me in future the pads are the best thing for the period for me not for all people but it’s not painful and the woman don’t think all times if she lose the tampon or the cup inside her it’s soo painful to watch how take it out
pads for first two or three days then switch to reusable extra absorb panties. It's not totally environment friendly but it helps atleast reduce few plus less chances of rashes.
I prefer pad....those looks hellish😰
You actually don’t feel them if they’re in right
fr
They honestly aren’t that bad 😊
@@jennafleming8381 true but for me and many others, it kinda makes us uncomfortable. Like sitting there knowing I have something up inside me that if it goes wrong I could get an infection? It just kinda scares me a bit
@@Exhausted-Cucumber Well the liklihood of that with a menstrual cup is very very low. Like you'd have to leave it in for a ridiculous amount of time and not practice basic hygiene
Yeah Uhmm this almost made me wanna cry bc that looked painful asf I’m using pads for the rest of my life.
its really not all that tbh. it doesn’t hurt that bad. im a competitive artistic swimmer so i need to use tampons every once in a while when a lesson or event is just too important to miss. but it’s fine if you wanna stick to pads, i personally stick to them since tampons are sometimes hard or just a hassle to insert. its trail and error to find the best one for you. but they’re more travel and swim friendly and you can really barely feel them when they’re in (with pads it almost seems like a diaper, sometimes its too uncomfortable) . but they’re not exactly ideal for heavy flow or overnight. differs by incidence i guess. i get that it may seem scary the first time.
tampons for my first time it was painless. when it’s in you (if you put it slowly and right) you can’t feel it inside you
I’ve tried tampons and I’m never using them again after finding out the hard way that I was born with two hymens and I had to go half of the day uncomfortably with the same tampon in cause just touching it made it feel like I was dying, so that was a fun experience 😀
I should just stay with my pad

To everyone freaking out:
Tampons are painfull as hell compared to cups since they are made of cotton. The texture can hurt. I cant use tampon daily becauae of that. I have to give it a break with pads. Finally got enough courage to try menstrual cups a couple months ago. BEST DECISION OF MY LIFE. I completely forget that I am on my period untill it is time to empty it. Leak proof (if put in correctly), almost no chance of toxic shock syndrome and you only have to empty it once every 12 hours.
About TSS: Tampons posses the risk because they are cotton. They cause tiny tears in your vaginal canal and when the blood gets bad it can go into your blood stream and poison from there. Since cups are silicon and therefore smooth, also contains the blood in it rather than around it, the chances of getting tss is very very minimal.
Omgee I never knew how tampons worked 😭🙈 this had me shook, you legit have to inject it!! Oh hell nah!! So scary!!!

I only use tampons if I’m really heavy, or I’m going to the beach or pool so I can actually swim
Menstrual cup are the best, sometime I just forgot I'm in my period, while I'm wearing it.
And menstrual cups don't give me the rash that pads always gave me (I used to wear the thinnest pad, so I can change like 4-5 times per day).
Now a days u feel good with it but after few years u realize that which is very worse thing and nature is always good for health. So using cotton clean clothes and maximum avoid outdoor and using cotton napkins during unexpected time.(outdoor).

I'm super happy with sofy 🥺🥺
I happy with stayfree secure they feel like I'm wearing a cotton ball
I am happy with my sanitary napkins 🙃✨
Just had to start wearing tampons. But I used to wear overnight plus size (it feels like a diaper) and it would fill up in 1 hrs and 30 minutes
A doctor I know recommended that when you practice putting in a tampon when you aren't on your period, you can use Vaseline to make it not painful and easy
I am waiting for the day i can buy menstrual cup. Using pads make me feel so so dirty, also the rashes and leakage, can't even move freely or do regular things because they Always Always move no matter how much you try. Can't even lie on my back because of leakage. They make me feel even worse than period pain. Kudos to people who are comfortable in pads.
Have u tried cutting the wings into 4 rather than 2 .. they stay on better .
Also keep the back portion longer than the front if u sleep on your back at night
@@_arsh_5218 actually I use two pads on my heavier days which are even more uncomfortable than using one pad.

@@harika_9399 or actually do but are scared to use a cup or a tampon?
First of all, I'm terrified to put anything in there, so not gonna happen. Second of all, a pad gives me more time to change it without risking my health, it might be gross when I finally can make it to the bathroom, but at least I'm not risking getting a TSS.
You do you, everyone, but assuming the flow based on pad vs tampon ain't gonna work

as someone who uses tampons i can agree that the pain of taking out a dry tampon is unbearable but i still rather that than sitting in my puddle of blood
The great thing about Menstrual cups is that it literally only collects menstrual fluids and doesn't leave the vagina dry
Oh yeah. It looks painful. Especially when the one hole I have there is a urethra
@@Nana-wi4gi im too scared to use them cups😣
@@plinka1362 So was I to be honest. And I won't lie, first time trying it was really frustrating. But once I was able to get it to open inside of me, it was sweet sailing from there. Plus it's so freaking convenient. If you do even ever consider a cup, use the smallest size from a brand first
There’s a cup called the lily cup that I think is the best. The reason is because the cup is flexible and is able to roll to the size of a tampon! So it’s not huge or awkward to get inside at all. It’s just like inserting a tampon. If you wanna try a cup I definitely recommend that one
I feel so so comfortable to see that many people do like pads like me. 😁
Thanks for making me never want to use a cup or tampon ever😊
Omg are all of you 12 years old 😭 Pads feel so gross whattttt the feeling of basically wearing a diaper all day is not for me, damn.
THANK YOUUUU 😭✋🏼
As a not-a-12-year-old, I just don't like the idea of having something inside of me (partially 'cause I'm ace). If you get the right pad, they're soft enough that you don't feel them but are still good enough for the first few days.
What a childish mentality you have. How are pads gross? So you're okay with having the a huge blood collection inside of you? Tampons serve the same purpose as pads woman. It's collects the blood too.
Are you literally gonna shame women for wearing pads. Wtf
I love how this video has put off like a thousand people from using these products! Literally. I use tampons, and honestly they are fine once you get used to them.
People are uneducated about their body
Dear girls don't risk yourself.just be safe and comfortable with Pads
To be honest i feel more safe down there with pads than tampons/cups
It took me 3 years of hearing about menstrual cups to finally take the leap of faith. After using pads my whole life and learning from your videos and putacupinit, I can happily say that my life has been changed for the better! :) I still use pads, but now I can choose to go swimming on my period or wear cute tight pants without showing any lines. Thanks for continuing to teach us!
My mom used to be a nurse, and she LOVED talking about the subject of how many tampon horror stories she had. Still petrified, and will forever be a pad user.
my mom taught me to Never used tampons cause they are a pain in the butt!
Used to be a Kotex 42cm pad user (heavy bleeder) until it also gave me rashes after years of using so I’m now for Team Menstrual cups/discs. Changed my life for the better. I sometimes go bare at home on my period with only a cup inside me. So comfy even on heavy period days.
I'm sorry I'm just so scared to do this like I haven't ever put something up my hole before so I'm scared everything would go wrong . The anxiety would kill me. I'll Stick to pads thank you🖐️👌
Tbh, putting tampons in with that plastic piece actually terrifies me, I’m afraid it will scratch something. Putting in tampons just with your fingers is actually really quick and easy, just make sure you put it in there far enough, but since you’re using your fingers you can easily feel if it’s in the right position. If it feels uncomfortable its usually not right.
For anyone scared about inserting anything in your vajayjay, and still caring about the environment, you can try cloth pads instead. There are tons of options, a bit pricey in one go but it lasts long. Definitely takes effort as you have to wash them out and then sun dry them to be sure to get rid of any germs but it also doesn't gives you rashes and doesn't smell at all, like Whisper or stayfree does.
Wah. I used to use cloth when my periods first started as we were poor and couldn't afford pad. Then those advertisements come which say cloths are not good, they are unhygienic etc etc. Now its getting reverse again. The world is such a mess.
@@allreview7464 Ok I know nothing about cloth pads, but I'm sure cloth and cloth pads are different.
