If all you care about is a fun, raw, track car. Miata is the way to go.
Light enough to not eat up tires/brakes, or need a crapload of power, common enough to be easily and cheaply moddable, small enough to be nimble.

Miatas are awesome. I just sold my 730whp G35 6spd Coupe and now have a built motor turbo Miata that makes around 400whp. It is soo much more fun and way cheaper. The G35 had so much power it was useless 99% of the time. Spinning tires at 100mph and trying to kill you always. It was nice but the Miata is so much more raw and ridiculously fun. I am raising the Miata up a little because it is too low that it hits bumpstops and bounces on bumpy roads. I also have a 3.6 Ring and Pinion to make it have longer gears and cruise at lower RPM on highway VS stock 4.10. That and a couple other little changes will make it almost perfect.

Also quick? I am a short guy (5'5") and I always felt that the G35 was too big and the shifter location wasn't really very comfortable. Are you shorter? If so how do you feel the Z fits you VS the Miata?

Your likely right. If driver skills and tires were equal, a well sorted 210hp miata(less than where most turbo miatas comfortably sit) would be neck-and-neck to a stock 370z from a roll but after about 90mph, the 370 would come back as it has a lower drag coefficient.
A real 280hp miata, however, would wipe the floor with the 370z with anything less than 400whp in a Z.
Again, assuming driver skill and tires were equal and from a roll.

Don't feel like watching but I'm going to guess that the Z was fairly stock? If so of course the turbo miata won. Put a twin in the Z and see how cocky the miata is 😂
It has exhaust/intake mods and it has a tune. Probably making 20-30hp over stock, still a built miata will definitely win, power/weight ratio is king

Legit setup with a cx racing turbo 280whp 🤣😂 get a real tune on a dyno and loose the Chinese turbo. Still fast tho.
