    A bit late to the party but excellently explained and more importantly demonstrated. Just what I wanted to show the differences in system intervention between the different levels of traction control.

    Would have been nice to demonstrate with a stand still hill climb and filming from behind to see wich wheel spin and now(if its rwd) i found that deactivating dsc and keeping traction control works best

      wonderful idea!... Unfortunately we don't have a hill steep enough to demonstrate that around us. Otherwise DEFINITELY would a show that.

    Great video! For cars with xdrive (i.e. my G42 m240) is it okay to drive in traction mode on a daily basis? Would it negatively effect the drivetrain? Thanks!

    • @BMWofFW
      @BMWofFW  Před rokem +1

      perfectly fine! you'd just have to hit the button every time is all since it won't default in traction mode.

    I find out that using sport traction mode actually eliminates jerky brake at the stop. (2022 g01 20i) Do you recommend keeping this mode on during regular city driving? I don’t floor gas pedal or intense cornering.

    • @BMWofFW
      @BMWofFW  Před 2 lety

      I’ve driven it in all situations it doesn’t interfere unless you’re reckless… I did end up driving it with dsc off with next to no issues as well

      @wei6332 Před 2 lety

      @@BMWofFW maybe mine is 20i with regular brake? The final jerky stop brake is actually a common issue here in Taiwan forum. Nonetheless, super appreciate for this video as it give me more confidence in driving in traction mode. 🙏

    I'm interested in getting the series 1 128ti, so watching these vids can help me know more about the car. The M cars, does this one fall underneath this one or the M cars?

    • @BMWofFW
      @BMWofFW  Před rokem +1

      This traction is throughout ALL bmws… slightly different tuning for M cars.. their “traction” is MDM mode

    What is the recommended setup to use in snow and ice road? Traction mode on?

    • @BMWofFW
      @BMWofFW  Před rokem

      traction mode is definitely helpful if you're in more than 3 inches of snow, a little wheel slip will help for sure.

  • @jps3b
    @jps3b Před 2 lety

    If I have an X5 M50i, will I have the “M” traction? Or will it be just the normal traction systems

    • @BMWofFW
      @BMWofFW  Před 2 lety +1

      so you have a version of M traction but it's not the same setup as say an X5M, BMWs official line is that all M cars (including the likes of the M50i) are M cars, but as they don't have the full M engineering behind it for chassis, engine and tuning they're more of an M lite car. With that said... your Sport Plus driving mode along with S shifting will give you the most M you can be (including launch control, traction tuning such as M vectoring and all the glorious M sounds!)

    Was wondering how it works technically? Thks

    • @BMWofFW
      @BMWofFW  Před rokem

      Combination of sensors balancing out actual vs requested inputs, as you lower the threshold that it uses to keep you on a safer line. All in all it takes into account things like wheel speed, steering angle, yaw, throttle position, engine output, drive mode, all to make the driving characteristics tailored to your chosen drive mode.
