We have a resident Barred Owl on our property and it is most vocal in the fall/winter here in the PNW. Their calls are so uncanny, they sound like yowling cats at times. It's such a pleasure to hear their otherworldly calls.
Now that I’m older I do my best TO EMBRACE ALL THESE ABSOLUTELY AMAZING SOUNDS OF THE WILD AND EVERY SINGLE BEAUTIFUL ANIMAL In . CAPTIVITY I’m so so sad that I am old and I have let life pass me by :( I love each and every sound I hear. Thank you so much for sharing ❤
Camping in the Kootenays BC I've spent several nights fortunate to have 1 of these being very vocal (caterwauling) in the tree above my campsite. At the time I didn't know it was an owl (because it was not a classic "hoo hoo" sound). Thank you for posting
I have them living in my yard. Neighbors yard. Behind my back yard. They’re all over. And make allll kinda of racket. I swear one screamed at me at 1am getting home from work dragging garbage to curb. Must’ve woke it up. It literally screamed at me.
Theres a reason why owl eyes creep you out. I wont say it here, but look it up. Ok, I'll say it here: there's reason to believe you may have had contact with ETs.
Don't do that... it disrupts their mating, and you might get attacked....they're so silent, you won't see or hear them coming until their talons are on you
So cool! Imma turkey hunter and always try to get the owls going to get a gobble! I can imitate pretty good! Usually bunch of males come in on top of me and start caterwauling.
Ignorance keeps me blissful but I'll ask anyway. Do you see owls often during the day? I've seen 1 once in the barn and it was more a surprise than anything else. I love listening to them at night. In fact I was leaving the barn to come back up to the house and they were doing there thing. The who who sound and the screeching I'm strangling a woman sound. How would one go about observing them without NVGs? I assume that they're calling for mates. I've tried to compare the sounds I hear with some of the sounds that are recorded but it's tough to tell. At least for me it is. What do they do in winter. They obviously don't hibernate because it's beliw freezing now and they're out there doing their thing. There's something special about them that's indescribable. Maybe it's never actually being able to watch them. Just really cool.
@@mariedonofrio5598 thanks. They're just fantastic to hear and see if lucky enough to see them. NVGs are extremely useful. It's been a weird Spring besides the Virus. I live on Chesapeake Bay protected lands. That means nobody can build around here. Anyway off the property is a creak and swampish areas. We have a lot of Great Blue Herons around, Ospreys as well. I don't recall seeing them in the past. We used to have 8 to 10 Bald Eagles, this year none. I have 9 hens that follow each other all over the place. The 1st time we ran into each other the turkeys flew into the trees. They really don't like flying. They're used to me now so they just walk on by. It just cracks me up. A line of old ladies in a convoy
I have them to, but never had Barred until this year. Haven't seen them, but definitely hear them early morning ) or through the night. It used to be at 2am every night in the dot... different kind though. I love it, just worth I could see this one.

These are the calls I heard a couple weeks ago while camping in Suwannee, FL. Thanks for sharing!

Walking out from my place late at night, out in the country, and I hear atleast 5 of these guys by my place! Such interesting, beautiful creatures! 🦉
What an awesome video thanks for sharing I use your video every evening to get the ones around my house going.
It def calls them in!
Out in the country of Oklahoma, I heard this for the first time last night. Didn't even know they could do this. Mind blown.
I love barred owls

Another thing about barred owls, is regardless of the time, if you mimic their call, theyll call back.
Excellent, excellent photography.
So cute! ☺ For me, the Barred Owl is the only owl with big eyes that doesn't scare me

One of my all time favorite sounds 💖
Excellent vid! One entertained me at 4:am this morning
They sound so wicked! I have an owl call and can call them in !
One time I played this video over my Bluetooth and three came in. I was glad I was in my car. Lol

They’re truly stunning
Basically a car alarm with mouse breath😂
Heard this much more pronounced at 3:00 am like 10 ft above my head as I got out my hot tub, nearly shay myself
To anyone who's ever heard them they get EXTREMELY LOUD

Frederick White not in the daylight but they still make a lot of noise whenever they want.
@@esta1fulthank you. We have the who who type and some loud screeching ones.
Frederick White: The “loud screeching ones” are barn owls. The “who-who type” are probably great horned owls or barred owls.

Excellent video.
Does the caterwaul mean anything in owl talk?
Amazing to listen to in the wild
