My mom didn’t want me to keep him at first, but eventually he grew up and was beautiful. Would sit on my shoulders and preen my hair, and my dad and I would fly him at midnight. I released him back into the wild when he was ready at Eufala wildlife refuge. He kept flying back to me but eventually stayed.

@@ponolovefarms3926 just so you know, doing this is not good for the birds (same with replicating calls by voice, though that's harder and so less abusable). it's awesome to see the owls fly up to you but it is confusing for them and it puts them in kind of a bad spot when they really should be resting and saving their energy during the day. not to mention it puts them at risk of being spotted and marauded by diurnal birds like crows that they'd really do best to avoid. it's also a very bad idea in heavily populated owl areas or breeding seasons because it can instigate conflicts or hinder proper breeding between the owls. every once in a while it might be ok but really it's not recommended, even if it is an easy way to spot a cool owl.
