You should concentrate on Right Foot Forward on Left Turns (or TrackStands) and
Left Foot Forward on Right Turns (or Trackstands)... and especially during the Figure-8 Ratcheting Turns... (and then, occasionally practice every 1.5 or 3 full 'cycles' of Ratcheting Figure'8', swapping the leading foot...
If you do not understand why, we should meet for further training and education...

@@NoFretBrettCSSMBFF Nope, I fully disagree - if you know how our body and brain work, this is the most confusing thing you can do to the body. I don't know a single pro rider who does this, and I know a few. It's like teaching a left/right handed person to write with both hands.
I'm not saying don't practice it - almost anything you practice will help in some way, but when riding switchbacks and tech you definitely want to keep your preferred stance.

i have done some practice for the last two months now. I did not think i could pull it off at first but i got better and better. Now i can confidently track stand even on a flat surface. I can also do a seated trackstand, a one handed and a no handed but the no hands track stand is a little trickier and im only able to last about 40seconds. While learning, i only turned my front wheel to the right. Now im trying to learn to do them with my front wheel pointing to the left. It appears i have come full circle and i cant seem to pull off anything with my wheel pointing left.

So great to hear about your progress! Feel into yourself - what feels good when practicing with the wheel pointing right? Then practice with the wheel pointing left - what feels different?
And then try to reploicate what feels good on the right with your wheel turned left.
OR - start over with the 5 steps with your wheel turned to the left :-)
Good luck - you can get there!

I am not an expert MTB rider. I have converted from road riding to MTB riding and have found your videos very clear and detailed. I am trying to learn to track stand using your steps. You advise to turn the bars away from your forward foot. But I notice that in many other trackstand videos they advise turning the bars towards the front foot. Which is better? People obviously manage to trackstand using either technique.

What gear should you be in? My boyfriend says it should be a very low gear, but I find that there’s not enough resistance in the pedals to do the small ratcheting action.

    • @Roxybike_Ride.and.Inspire

@@viperdemonz-jenkins NOPE - that is not at all the way I am :-) If you think so, then you have probably not watched my videos.
I am just a person with a "growth mindset" - which means, that there is never just one way of doind things AND there ALWAYS is a solution to limiting beliefs and limiting movement patterns.
As a professional coach, I always look for solutions to suit my client. But if someone says " it has to be an instinct move" and then can not perform the move consciously (like you wrote), then I know too much about how learning works, that I can say: that I know that there is more to learn for this person - IF they want to evolve.
If you don't want to, then I fully respect it. But as you are watching tutorials, I thought you may want to. If not - then that is TOTALLY ok.

Would have been a better tutorial video to have simply copied Trials Rider Ryan Leech's method as a refresher tutorial video instead of trying to break it down. Didn't understand some of your choice of wording use to describe your technique......pedal back is clearly more informative than your chosen wording.
And why use an mid-drive ebike which is easier for this demonstration over a regular manual drive bike which is clearly harder and more skilled to demonstrate.
If you want to increase your content viewing, just copy what others like Ryan Leech, Jeff Lenosky have shown to demonstrate in their videos in the way they are shot and explained. No one would be none the wiser because those tutorial videos are so old for today's audience viewers.
Still I'll give you credit for trying as there are little or no videos of female MTB riders showing how it's done.

    • @Roxybike_Ride.and.Inspire
      @Roxybike_Ride.and.Inspire  Před 2 lety +4

Why not just copy others…? Well 😁
      1. The road to success is NEVER just copying others. It’s getting inspiration but then THINKING, REFLECTING AND finding something that has never been done before. That’s how innovation takes place.
      2. I have been a full time coach training all levels of rider (beginner to Olympic pros) and all levels of instructors for years - my methods work. I am sorry if they didn’t work for you in this tutorial (have you actually tried them? Maybe then you’ll realize WHY I brake the move up into digestible chunks?) - but in a private coaching I can guarantee you that I would’ve found the words to explain it for it to make sense TO YOU. That’s what makes a good coach a great coach - having several ways to explain the same thing, to find a solution for the unique person he/she is coaching.
      3. The bike I am using is NOT an ebike. It’s a zesty am fit and the little box at the bottom holds a spare tube.
      4. Why do you point out that you give me credit “as a woman”? That is pretty sexist…
      5. My channel is NOT about increasing content viewing. My viewings will increase because my focus is to genuinely help riders and instructors by sharing my knowledge and love. And luckily I know that I am. (Just read the other comments on my videos and read my ratings on Google and what my clients say).
      6. If you think you will find PERFECT and individual coaching on CZcams, then this can happen by chance on one video, but the next video will have wording that may be ambiguous FOR YOU - and another person will understand 100% what is meant. That’s the difference between making a tutorial for a “general audience” vs individual coaching.
      Hope this helps!
