      You're welcome! And I'm glad it's helping. 1380 is great! I'm sure you can get that up on the next test, and then focus on the rest of your application.

    I am peruvian and Ive been caught off guard when you mentioned you were in my country hahaha, I am having such a hard time with reading and writing, no matter what I do I don't seem to improve, in math, however, I started with a 590 and now got 770 but on reading and writing can not get across 660 even tho I read a lot (I love reading) and I also write a lot, sometimes I think it is because I overthink too much the questions, I have a SAT test this week, lets see how it goes :)

    • @score-yourcollegecounselor
      @score-yourcollegecounselor  Před 7 měsíci +1

      Suerte! I think overthinking is very common and you need to just trust your instincts sometimes. Which questions are you missing the most? Maybe your approach to those needs an adjustment. But yes, we're based out of Peru and we've helped over 200 Peruvians study abroad with our counseling program

    Can you please explain to me why the answer for the third question is strategem, and not scheme? From what I've been able to retain from the definition, a strategem does exhibit a negative connotation because it carries a meaning that suggests to try and outwit an opponent. There isn't an opponent present in this example and, once again, it holds a negative connotation. However, scheme is used quite frequently in the context of government. So, can you please explain why strategem is the correct answer?

    • @score-yourcollegecounselor
      @score-yourcollegecounselor  Před 11 měsíci +2

      Scheme is definitely used more with government in British English so you might have seen that more, but in American English it would be considered more negative. And as you say, strategem does imply outwitting an opponent, but if that opponent is a problem, that's perfectly fine. It doesn't have to be a person.

    Is there any way I can get access to march DSAT questions

    • @score-yourcollegecounselor
      @score-yourcollegecounselor  Před rokem

      Not that I know of. Pretty much impossible to get the questions since everybody had their own, unless someone can figure out how to decrypt the data that gets downloaded to Bluebook, which I imagine it deletes after the test if they're smart.

    Hey I am constantly scoring about 650 in English part. and I want to score 750 max. Is there any technique I should apply to score 100 points more?
    I am taking june test

    • @score-yourcollegecounselor
      @score-yourcollegecounselor  Před rokem +1

      Honestly there's no single answer for everyone. You have to analyze what kinds of questions you're missing most and focus on those. Each person's road to a higher score is unique.

      @@score-yourcollegecounselor My weakness are punctuation, supporting claims, vocabulary and main purpose of text. Also those question where only a short description is given and we are asked to choose the choice that the writer had said based on those short description.

    • @score-yourcollegecounselor
      @score-yourcollegecounselor  Před rokem +1

      Well I got a video coming out today about those short descriptions for inserting lines of poetry. And for vocab/punctuation, I really recommend just reading a lot in English. The more you see words and punctuations used correctly, the easier it is for you to identify the right answer on the test. Main purpose it helps to just read the first and last lines. That's usually where the main ideas are.

      @@score-yourcollegecounselor Can you suggest me some books, articles to read

    • @score-yourcollegecounselor
      @score-yourcollegecounselor  Před rokem +1

      Search online for sites that focus on things you're interested in. It's always better to read stuff you actually want to read. And regarding books, I always recommend some fictional works. Maybe start with a book that inspired a film you like. It doesn't really matter what you read as long as you're actually interested in it.

    how can i memorize all words? i struggle while learning those words because i always forget them after a while. and also i need a useful resource of sat vocabulary, that is for a big percent will be in the exam, for learning. (btw i tried to go through the link u shared in ur sat vocab slide but it looked like something else)

    • @score-yourcollegecounselor
      @score-yourcollegecounselor  Před rokem +1

      I like those magoosh flashcard sets for TOEFL, the hard and very hard sets fit well with SAT too. I think it also helps to really try to USE the words, not just memorize them. Most SAT vocab words work in specific contexts and knowing entire phrases is better than just knowing the definitions of individual words.
