- This is a 1987 Baldwin Grand Piano, model sf-10.
We love getting these pianos; because they're not super common and we don't get a lot of them, and they're just like this perfect size for the concert pianist that wants a concert piano but doesn't necessarily want to go spend the Steinway money or Boston door for money or something like that.
This is a semi concert grant. It's a seven-foot piano, so Baldwin sf10s are seven feet from the very front of the piano to the very back of the piano.
This one was built in 1987 which was the 125th anniversary of Baldwin so this is like a commemorative year, it has a wet sand cast plate and it does have the accudress hitch pins which allow the technician to kind of adjust the down bearing or how much pressure is getting pushed onto the bridge and how much of that sound is getting transferred to the soundboard now every time I say that I always have to like recoil a bit because if you're a piano technician out there and you don't know how to do that don't touch them these are adjusted in the factory when they make them. I definitely know technicians that play with those a little to adjust down bearing, but an absolute professional that knows what they're doing should only do it. Other than that this piano is in great shape it did have a player system on it that we've removed, it was an old floppy player that we just didn't want on the piano anymore. There're no cracks on the soundboard bridge or pin block, and it does have a runner action as some of these sf-10s do not. This one does it has a runner action and runner hammers.

Baldwin grand piano sf-10 is a great choice!
This one seems to sound brighter, or spicier than the Mason BB or the Steinway B, at least on the video. Same impression from the Baldwin L and Mason AA or Steinway A.

"Spicy" is a great word, it does have that classic American sound like Steinway and M&H but with more clarity and some 'seasoning' for sure. A profound bass that growls, a nasally tenor that's very rich, and a very clear singing treble, all topped off with a little spice, a little love!
