presently restoring a 1912 Chickering of the same length I believe, I know what you mean by the strong base, I also have a Chickering from 1927 where the action is engineered differently.

A model L with a Renner action? Thought that was available only on SF and SD? If true, that’s a rare model L and would be snatched up by anyone who knew anything about what they were buying.

Mason and Hamlins are pretty awesome. I own a 1906 M&H AA, completely rebuilt in 2018. The sound of these instruments is so enveloping, just as you described. Trivia: the great composer and pianist Sergei Rachmaninoff thought very highly of Mason & Hamlins.

Hello, I have an ibach piano exactly like that. I believe it is was made in 1915. Can you tell me how managed to access the action. I need to replace a couple felts on the dampers, and do not want anyone else to touch my piano. I know there are thumb bolts on each side under the piano - do you undo these? Many thanks!

Beautiful instrument that was never exposed to its great potential. Santi Falcone was a true craftsman.

Freddie Mercury was a fan of these and had several of them, at home and on tour if i recall reading. And i agree they are aggressive on the treble. Deliberate for a smoother overall feel i guess. Not for me though, but, each to their own. Thank you for sharing.

Chickering did not invent overstringing or one-piece cast iron frame. Alpheus Babcock, who later in life, associated with Chickering did and he was not at Chickering during either of those patents were registered.
