- Woman in the streets of Malawi's capital Lilongwe get stript naked because of wearing trousers. A young Malawian girl's perspective.
Born in Malawi on 16 August 1990, Lily Banda made an impact under the stage name Alex as a singer and poet. Since the release of her debut album in January 2014 the artist has headlined many events where she has dazzled audiences with her charisma and energy as well as the boldness of her poetry.
Lily lives her life in a way that she hopes others can be inspired to be sure of what they hope for and certain of what they cannot see.
Lily lives in Lilongwe.

Wow, if there was an Oscar for TED talks, Lily would win it! It's an extremely complex situation in (Southern) Africa. Plenty of superstition and intimidation. The suffragettes who were involved in getting the right for women to vote were sometimes from affluent families or had an affluent husband. Only money could talk to make a change here, with influential people, or else they wipe the floor with you...
Lily Banda, you are an eloquent raconteur! Thank you for using your amazing gift to educate us about the oppression against women in Malawi.
My blood pressure continued to go up as I continued to watch this TedTalk. I am a registered nurse who will be trained as a SANE-A, SANE-P in the near future. I will be apart of the fight and education of this nonsense violence against women.
I did not understand.
It was so very disturbing to re-visit Lily's talk a couple of years after seeing her in the flesh in Lilongwe. Her talk is so powerful, so personal, so upsetting. One can only hope that sense will prevail in the years to come................
So heartbreaking
For the love of God. What kind of animals are those men? Not even a snake wouldn't sleep with his own child. why since women are more than men, we don't take charge? thank you so much! you are amazing person.
Thank you Lily. So inspiring that hidden traumas were exposed here. We can never find a solution if we keep sweeping issues under the carpet. We need more exposure on these issues continually. Not much content on CZcams concerning such social injustices that are still ongoing in Malawi. God bless and protect Malawi 🇲🇼
TELL THEM HOW IT IS LILY, I AM ON YOUR SIDE 100 %

Action Breaks Silence is a charity based in the UK that also do work in South Africa and India where gender based violence is huge problem. In addition to empowering young girls and women through self defense training, they conduct workshops and training with boys - because for the most part it is the boys who are doing the harming and/or growing up into men who are harming. Support this charity if you are able.

the fact that nothing has changed in 2020 says something about the men in the world.
Right
It says something about the men who do that and accept that it's done in those cultures where this is done. It doesn't say anything about men as much as it says something about that culture.
2022 and its getting worse
