Tomasz Mackiewicz alias Czapkins (born January 13, 1975) is a Polish mountain climber. He went missing on (January 27, 2018) at the summit of Nanga Parbat 8,126 m (26,660 ft), known as the "Killer Mountain," in Pakistan.
On January 25, 2018, while attempting his seventh ascent of Nanga Parbat at 8,126 m (26,660 ft), Tomasz Mackiewicz along with French climber Elisabeth Revol had reached 7400 m from Diamer side. As the weather turned bad due to a snow storm and Elizabeth noticed Tomasz's bad health condition, she started taking Tomasz down. As according to Revol he could not walk, see or even communicate, she secured him from the wind, called for help and started her trip down the mountain. Tomasz had developed severe frostbite, altitude sickness and snow blindness while Elizebeth had mild frostbite on five toes. Another Polish team that was attempting a nearby summit of K2 was called for rescue. On January 27, 2018 the rescue team including Denis Urubko and Adam Bielecki, were dropped off by a helicopter at 4,900 m (16,100 ft) on the mountain. The team rescued Elisabeth Revol at 6,026 m (19,770 ft) and brought her to safety. Tomasz who was believed to be at his tent at around 7,400 m (24,300 ft) could not be rescued due to bad weather and a snow storm.

The President probably doesn't read you tube but thank you for your kind words.
I think Tomek wasn't commercial enough to receive such attention.
All he would want is the regular people to remember him and Poland well.

The magic spell of these magnificent mountains pulled you all the way from Poland to Pakistan. Seeking thrill, adventure and conquest of these towering peaks you marched all the way from a land far away. But now you lie buried in the womb of our soil and have become our ETERNAL BROTHER. This eternal bond of love unites us with you , your family and friends FOREVER. Welcome to Eternity--Home of Virtual Mind where We all RETURN. In words of Sufi Saint Rumi "You died in Love and you stay alive for ever". RIP Tomasz

Muhammad Zafaryab Ahmed Hw was a lovely guy. Desperately sad he’s died. However, after 6 attempts to reach summit he knew the risks. Having children should mean putting their interests before individual passions. He was also a smoker and not as fit as Elizabeth. Looking at videos of him with his kids, the 2 girls absolutely adore him. Their lives will change forever

I think mountaineering is a very selfish obsession. RIP to this guy but how can you leave your small kids in this world to climb a useless piece of rock! And you get killed doing it! Working hard on your family and safeguarding their welfare should be the biggest mountain you climb. You do not even see this trait in animals! Even animals get killed to safeguard their young.

I dream of climbing...nor summiting...these mountains. Drug addict since13. Hard drugs (crak and heroin) from 17-39. Then I got clean for 8 years and began building a life against so many odds. Then I got ill and am now back to being a hard drug addict. If I can get cured...I think I have Krohns...I can get clean again. Living like this is horrible. I would prefer death to this. The things I got whist clean are disappearing which hurts so bad. I still have my car though and a home. If I can get fixed enough to not be so ill then maybe I could imitate Tomaz. Like Ali Sadpara, I feel his loss. And I don't know why? From where I am now, where walking up a slight hill brings leg ache within a few yards to doing anything like what Tomaz achieved is my longest journey. Getting to the moon seems just as distant. But it's all down to my health hopefully getting better. I thought I would try to explain that what Tomaz did was staggering. achievement
