The 2002 Kings deserve some humanitarian award for holding themselves together during this game... I want to break a lamp every time I watch this, and I live on the other side of the country
2018 Rockets also.
Unfortunately, the Sacramento Kings have to rue their missed chances between 2002 and 2004 when other teams beat them to the punch for NBA titles and NBA Finals appearances since.
@@michaelguerrero3684 Speaking of the 2018 Rockets, they're mumbling that should've been us when Chris Paul and PJ Tucker are in the 2021 NBA Finals playing each other.
But why a lamp?
eh if ur a kings fan i can see why. retro-actively it was prolly their incessant complaining that like annoyed the refs. they shoulda just kept their composure and pressed the issue.
The fact this game was a one possession game with all the calls is insane.
literally took everything the Lakers and the refs possibly had to beat the Kings by 4 at home lol
It's causal, not coincidence.
That block on Kobe was literally one of the best blocks in NBA erased from history by referees. Or maybe not so.
Thats crazy to think but true
No wonder Kobe’s so great got all calls they made him great, bailed him out. Joke all the players are laughing even the announcers Waltons like this games a joke
It really is one of the best blocks ever smh
That was a travesty. Lordddd. Kobe was dirty as fuk with that elbow. Guess Bibby got the last laugh. Lmao

The offensive foul on Pollard, the charge on Webber. Just Broke my heart as a kid in Sac. We are the real 2002 champs.
Still had a chance in game 7 . lakers deserve that title
Sacramento King lmfao this kings team was good... but let's not forget they had a prime shaq and young kobe, lakers would've win either way

@Alexander Melnikov good one
@Alexander Melnikov LOL you can’t be serious

Got to give props to Bill Walton for unbiasly stood up and said how horrible job the referees did.

The Lakers shot 27 free throws...in the 4th quarter!!! That’s crazy lol it was most definitely fixed to send it to a game 7.

In fact, the 2002 WCF shouldn't came down to Games 6 and 7 for the Kings had they grabbed one rebound on the final play of Game 4 and won that game.
Unfortunately, the Kings lost Games 4, 6 and 7 and the 2002 WCF altogether.
It all came down to which team turned off the distractions like the referees and kept playing basketball to make a few more plays and win and it was the Lakers who did it.

@@jayzee7538 But you also have back door cuts.
The NBA is more like the international game today: ball movement, movement without the ball, and testing your perimeter game.
Looking at the look on Adelman's face is one of the most disheartening things ever. He as a coach did everything right but the game is literally rigged against his team. What do you tell your players after this? How do you go into that locker room and tell those guys they didn't have enough? The late 90s early 2000s was the hayday of Sac and the NBA didn't want it. Money is everything.
I felt the same about Tom Thibadou when he coached the Bulls in Game 1 of the 2011 ECF. Whistles on clean plays, not even questionable. But the league NEEDED Bron to win, so they allowed him to.
Just keep playing through every call to win. That's how you overcome atrocious officiating.

Both teams were finding it hard to score, and neither could get any separation. That's why the bogus offensive call on Webber was so devastating - especially when followed by the foul call on Christie vs Kobe. Add to that the fact that both Vlade and Pollock fouled out on bogus calls, and Webber careful on D with five fouls.
1:53 The refs were panicking, these calls just kept getting progressively more and more obvious, to the point Sacramento couldn't even go for a loose ball in the last two minutes of a series deciding conference game without being called for a foul.
Horry was fouled on that play, just not by Vlade Divac.
Seems they didn’t wanna foul out Webber (because he was the Kings star player) so they gave the Lakeshow a makeup call and called it on Divac, even tho Divac didn’t deserve that call

@Infiniti Only the call on Pollard when Shaq goes up for his baby hook and Pollard's arms are up wasn't a foul, Webber's charge wasn't a charge, the two diving for the ball wasn't a foul, Webber got a clean block on kobe. This is brutal. As bad as how my mavs were jobbed in 2006...worse, even.
@Infiniti Only shaq landed fine, no undercutting there. I'll give you that it could be a push, a gut push because that's what Pollard could push him with. Belly on belly, if one sees a foul. But that's far different than what that douche pachulia did. That guy stuck a foot out so Leonard could land on it. This wasn't that. And back in those days, they didnt even call those fouls. I remember watching tons of guys fall on other guys' feet and shit was ever called. Those days were the days of the twisted ankles. It was constant.
@Infiniti Only the problem with how shaq was officiated was the fault of the officials themselves. If some of us don't see a foul, it's because Shaq would get hacked, attacked and assaulted constantly without getting the foul calls. Then they go and call that? The refs themselves create the dispute when they don't call a shitload of fouls against him. Therefore, in that realm, it wasn't a foul. Even if it was, really. The other calls I see them wrong: no charge, no foul on the loose ball, and Webber cleanly blocked Kobe.
He should have 3. Game 7 vs Blazers in 2000 was clearly rigged.
For the Kings fans out there I give credit to you if you were able to watch that. One of the worst feelings watching your team in a final is seeing match rigging right infront of you. It still happens to this day in other sports too. Insane..
Or maybe the Sacramento Kings should've just learned from other teams on how to turn off the distractions like the referees and play basketball through every call to win.

Even after twenty years, you can’t convince me this game wasn’t rigged.
The sad part is that there isn’t anything we can do about it if it truly was. The NBA is a privately owned company. And as such, they can do whatever they feel they need to do to maximize profits. David Stern made the decision that if the Sacramento Kings had won the NBA title, it would have ruined his business model and plans. Therefore, he had to manipulate the results to guarantee maximum viewership and revenue.
There is no law that states the outcome of professional sporting matches have to be genuine and unmanipulated by those in charge. Like I said before, The NBA isn’t beholden to anyone except their stakeholders.
That being said, the 2002 West Finals was bullshit.
Well, Rick Adelman and the Greatest Show on Court era Sacramento Kings failed because they didn't make a few more plays to win either Games 4, 6, or 7 of the 2002 WCF.
The Kings even had a better chance the next year with a deeper team and a better defense until Chris Webber tore his lateral meniscus in his knee against the Dallas Mavericks.
Now, the Kings are suffering even more when other teams beat them to the punch for titles and NBA Finals appearances while they have a snakebitten hat trick.

@@owenanderson3425 Rams vs saints PI is the worst call in the history of sports
I remember this game. The Ref's got a call from the Commissioners office to blow the whistle more for the Lakers.
This is before TV execs learned to NOT show the replay of a bad call in favor of a major market team. Nowadays you’ll never see a reply of a bad call against the Lakers
This is why i stopped looking at sports years ago.I just felt these games were fixed.Like why wouldn't the higher ups want a game 7?More money to be made on concession stands, tickets etc.Just disgusting
The referees were just going to make the calls the Lakers way every time. The Kings knew the fix was in and could do nothing about it. How could David Stern have let this go? This is a black stain on the history of the NBA
How could he let it go? Because he was in on the fix, guy was corrupt as hell
@@mikejohnson8373 The Kings/The Players had no say so.. They started to see they were getting screwed and couldn't stop it no matter how much they made complaints against the Refs.. David Stern was like a mob boss, if things didn't go his way he made sure it did.. The Kings got screwed..
The Milwaukee Bucks disagreed in 2021. They did something the Kings didn't do: just hoop.
@@joesakic91 kings were hooping. But refs didn’t let them.
@@brianzhuang4319 If the Sacramento Kings were hooping, they should've sealed the deal in either Games 4, 6, or 7 of the 2002 WCF despite atrocious officiating, but they didn't when they lost all three.
Game 4: failed to grab one rebound on the final play where Vlade Divac slapped Shaq's putback miss to Robert Horry with no King guarding the three-point line. Horry got a good look to nail the game-winning trey.
Game 6: the Lakers were ice cool from the free throw line going 34 of 40.
Game 7: the Kings were ice cold from both the free throw line (16/30) and from downtown (2/20).
The Kings blew it.
Also, Rick Adelman and the Greatest Show on Court era Sacramento Kings going 0-5 in winner-take-all postseason games including 0-3 in Game 7s between 1999 and 2004 doesn't help their cause.
Refs did the same thing to the Blazers in the 2000 WCF game 7. Lakers only earned ONE championship out of that 3 peat.
Nah. Both the Blazers and Kings did it to themselves.
As a die hard lakers/kobe fan who was born and raised in Sacramento... I must say, when I was watching this live, even I was like where tf did they find these refs??? That was the greatest team the city of Sacramento ever saw and they deserved the championship that year.
It's not about championships in the NBA they wanted Lakers to 3 peat
"Double Dribble" reminds me of this series.
Preview of the 2023 playoffs west 2nd round
Unfortunately, another NorCal team will take on the Lakers in Round 2: the Warriors.
These refs should have been fired at halftime. These calls weren't even controversial . They were just obviously bullcrap.
I was 5 watching this huge lakers fan my uncle was a huge kings fan I’ve never seen him so worked up over a game now that im grown up I see why
Does anyone know what Divac and Pollard were saying during all of this. Their smiles suggest they knew the fix was in.
This is not basketball. This is pornography
i was too young to realise it was so fixed , now watching again this game and getting older, i understand..
You should watch Game 4 of the 2002 WCF. That game was more of a killer for the Sacramento Kings.
@James Harden's free throw attempts Nah. The Lakers caught breaks and capitalized them to win Games 4, 6, and 7 and outlast the Kings to win the 2002 WCF en route to a title.
@James Harden's free throw attempts But the 2002 WCF shouldn't came down to Games 6 and 7 for the Kings had they grabbed one rebound on the final play of Game 4.
Pat Riley said it best, "No rebounds, no rings."
Keep talking about Game 6 all you want, but you should look at the entire 2002 WCF.
As a 2000 Blazers fan, I knew what we were gonna watch in the conference finals.
I’ve been listening to the podcast Whistle Blower about the ref betting scandal. I’m surprised how calm the Kings were in this game after all these horrible calls. I give them credit for not exploding in anger and getting T’d up. Perhaps they should of. They definitely got robbed in this game.
They were scripted to get robbed.
I still get sick to my stomach when I hear 👂 and worse when I see 👀 this game/series Kings got robbed. Someone couldn't handle the fact that the best team in the NBA that year was a small market team and not LA.
0:53 Fox literally braces himself for the flop he took before hitting the ground... Offensive Foul
So clear that this game was fixed, this is why I dont care to much for NBA
And The NHL and NFL isn't Fixed?
27 free throws for the Lakers in the final quarter. 25 for the Kings in the whole game. Fixed game level : Legendary !
Yet, the Kings had 204 FTA to the Lakers 185 in the entire 2002 WCF.
@@joesakic91 most of the Kings free throws came from games 2 and 3 when the Lakers were fowling purposely to try get back in the games. But 27 in one quarter in a tight game is crazy. Game 4 and 7 were instant classics. This series is an example of how great teams are forgotten about over time. The early 00s sac team may be one of the best teams ever to not win a chip. Maybe the most fun team I’ve ever seen play. What a shame 🤷🏽♂️
@@jimmiejohnson8639 2003 was a better chance for Rick Adelman and the Greatest Show on Court era Sacramento Kings with a better and deeper team until Chris Webber tore his lateral meniscus in his knee against the Mavs.
And sure, the Lakers had 40 free throw attempts in Game 6 including 27 in the fourth quarter, but they made the most of them going 34 of 40.
@@joesakic91 will always go down as a what if. Chris Weber was never the same after that. If I remember correctly, that team still did well without him. I think they took Dallas to 7 in the playoffs without him. No doubt in my mind they would of been a favorite to win it all had he not got injured. Crazy part, I think that team would be better suited for this era. Early 00s was arguably the hardest time in the nba to score and they put up points with ease. Made it look easy.
@@joesakic91 also, I wanted to add, it sucks for Sac that game 6 happened to them but ultimately it was better for the league as it shined an even brighter light on the officiating. Another series where the officiating made me scratch my head was the first Mia Dal series.
The 2002 WCF was rigged.
ngl but the Kings got me watching basketball again. my sisters when to school in sac, in the lat 90s. even tho i was just in highschool, i started keeping tract of the Kings. before i had just use to watch the Warriors on sportschanel. but i watched webber and Bibby in college and i liked them both so i became a kings fan. after this happened i didnt even realize at the time that the refs were paid off some how. tbh, 2 days ago, when Devin Booker fouled holiday hard, which shouldve been his 6 foul, but wasnt called, i see its still going on today, and its sad.
Well, the Bucks are up 3-2 heading to Game 6.
I’ve never seen the footage….THIS IS A CLEAR FIX!!!!
Pedowitz report shut down Tim Donaghy's claims.
It's like the warriors Cavs game 3 2018 o 2017 where Cavs had almost 20 free throws in the first quarter lmfao
But the Warriors still won both of them lol
of course it was fixed!
Pedowitz report says no.
I will never get tired of seeing vlade just laughing his ass off after the bogus foul on pollard.
The Kings were just following the script 😅
Fixed straight up.
Wow, there’s no way Kobe didn’t feel that face on his elbow…
he knew what he was doing, kobe was a shady dirty player. in another game on a rebound he on purpose threw his elbow into tmacs spine after tmac torched him in the first half. gave tmac a back contusion.. lol
This game was more fixed than my dog
I guess nothing has changed 😅 New era Lakers
Hard to watch even as a Lakers fan. I also loved the Kings team of that time, they were the better team that season and C-Webb could’ve had a shot at a ring. Tragic.
