- Sorry but website with templates and plans is now down thanks to hackers and running costs.
I've always wanted to make a solid aluminum pencil just to see if it could be done. The answer is yes, an in real life it feels and looks beautiful. Even if it is a little hard to sharpen :-)
To make the pencil I filed down 8mm aluminium tube with an internal hole of just over 3mm. After burning off the case from a 3mm cored artists pencil, I mixed some clear casting epoxy with the coarse and fine filings saved from the filling & sanding process.
In the UK I used Easy Composites resin (not affiliated in any way) This was sucked up the aluminum tube and plugged off with the graphite pencil core in place. On the top, fine sanded aluminium mixed with epoxy acted as an end to the pencil, and as a fill reservoir.
Two days later is was polished and sharpened...

Legend. You made me think of my dad because of the sheer amount of innovation you put into this and instantly made me forget about him because of your wittiness and fast cutting way of showing your progress. Less is more. Job well done!
Teacher: whats taking you long
1970: we will have metal pencils in the future
"back in the old days, I remember those 1000 degree knife videos, times in which we dreamed of content as good as this."
This guy put more love on making that pencils than my parents does to me
He melted a pencil with electricity.
John Wick: I need a pencil...
Imagine verifying that it doesn't breaks, and it actually do...
Plot twist: he is working for apple and the 100$ apple pencil was his idea
What do you need ?
Imagine doing all that and lose the pencil 1st day at school.
I am speechless. So happy that the world has such intelligent and clever people.
