- The sub genre of kid friendly racing games has been around for about as long as video games have been. Mario Kart in particular has been a successful series for three decades now, and when something is successful, others will try to cash in on its success with their own games. Problem is, though, while most companies understand the core of Mario Kart, the quality control that goes into them is virtually the opposite. Today, I'll be tackling through a bunch of terrible racing games that either tried their own thing and failed, or just copied Mario Kart without the polish. What I look at in this video, are not only games that are forgotten about usually, but in the case that one of them IS remembered, it's for how poorly received they are. Doesn't matter if they try to mimmick Mario Kart's mechanics or make something slightly more original, it almost never works. Whether it be the infamous M&Ms Kart Racing, the long forgotten Crazy Frog Racer, or the horrible lineup brought to us by Miracle Designs, get ready to witness some truly exhausting stuff in the painful world of racing games. Because I'm not.

You know what I just realized. Miracle Designs racing games are actually ports of Merlin Racing on the Nuon, except the original had an adventure and 2 player mode. I’m serious.

Actually, more than 'bad racing games', a more fitting title for this video would be 'bad Mario Kart clones' or simply 'Mario Kart clones', since most if not all of the games you reviewed here follow a very similar gist to that of "Mario Kart" (you even admitted that you wouldn't be taking a look at things like sim racers or the like in this video). Other than that, though, great video as usual!

The kart racing games I enjoy outside of Mario Kart would have to be Lego 2K Drive, Joy Ride Turbo, Sonic & Sega All-Stars Racing Transformed, Crash Team Racing Nitro-Fueled, F1 Race Stars, Nickelodeon Kart Racers 3: Slime Speedway, Disney Speedstorm, Beach Buggy Racing 2: Island Adventure, Pac-Man World Rally, Mysims Racing, KartRider: Drift, Chocobo GP, Smurfs Kart, and Speed Punks. I love the Mario Kart series, but it seems like Nintendo fans are toxic towards other kart racers. They basically think they're all trash and are just inferior to Mario Kart. I heavily disagree. Tbh Mario Kart isn't all that perfect. Mario Kart 64 is terrible (enjoyed it as a kid, but it aged like rotten milk), Mario Kart: Double Dash (while still fun) feels a bit slippery, Mario Kart Wii (my favorite kart racer) has bad cpu (they're brutal asf), and Mario Kart 8 Deluxe feels a little slow to me even on 150cc. 200cc is awful though because you just run into walla from going too fast.
