In this video I install a big bore kit in my 50cc Chinese scooter. I hope to increase my performance to put my bike in the power band from 0 to 40MPH. There are several tuning components that can be easily added to your bike to boost your performance (see links above).

tune the carb, I just did one of these 80cc kits, came with a 50mm cylinder and torn gaskets, ordered some spare gaskets and jetting kit, also had the luxury of research and time when doing this, DO NOT FORGET TO TUNE THE CARB, PERFORMANCE PARTS MEAN BIGGER JETS! was running an 78 main previously in the carb ran like a bat out of hell and was getting hot real quick, brought it up to speed with an uni air filter and 95 main jet although I should probably move down to a 90 or a 92 still testing but today was my first ride, also you might need a spare cdi since mine blew when I flipped the polarity on the stator by accident. have fun remember 16 foot lbs on the bolts that hold the rockers on and 7 lbs on the bolts that hold the side of the jug in. if the scoot sounds lean and mean then up jet

You would think valves marked with "EX" would be Exhaust. It might be a good idea to use cross tighten/loosen technique to keep from warping warps, maybe it's not that necessary with a 500cc, but as you get to larger engines, it's a critical must.

    thanks.
new to CS repair. gotta question tho ...
the bore kit your purchased only has a few components,
why do the other kits sold on Amazon have so much more components to install a bore kit
is this kit the bare necessities? i like that. if ain't broke...don't fix it.

I haven't checked, but I wonder how much you saved by upgrading a lower powered machine verses buying a larger powered one?

As long as you're not interested in longevity, you can 'mod' the crap out of the Chinese engine.(you'll know when 'I guess that was too much!' when the piston seizes from cyl-head-temps going ape-shit) You're right...get a 125 or 150cc scooter...the time & money you put into a '50' to 'make it faster' eventually becomes moot on a vehicle w/a wheel-base and wheel-diameter that was NEVER intended to do 70mph...! Hit an unseen pothole because you're moving that fast...and you're 'all done'. (I've ridden a 'full-mod' fifty w/the 'GY-6' upgrades at 65mph...and once was enough! A series of 'black-top''ridges & ripples' from heat buckling the road was enough for me...someone w/less experience riding a small scoot that fast would have been in 'deep shit' because the front-wheel was actually oscillating so much I'm surprised my old fat ass didn't start scraping pavement! It was like 'hydroplaning' with no water on the road...the only reason I wasn't 'toasted road-rash' was from slamming the REAR-BRAKE ONLY down as hard as I could to slow) I'll stay w/my "Metro" upgraded to 42mph on level-road w/light-wind...it'll 'pin the speedo' on downgrades, and even 50 is 'too damn fast' for the little Honda.(I started the Metro up this morning...and it was 9-degrees out! It ran PERFECT...I just wanted it to idle for awhile to circulate everything...who can legitimately demand 'MORE' from something that's already damn near perfect 'as-is?')

My so called "needle bearing" went bad on my bike. Under warranty but of course I am going thru it with manufacturing comoany but in the mean time. I have options. Guy at shop offering another stronger engine 70cc or the same engine replacement. Stronger engine$320 same engin repl $160. Or just let warranty do its job.
My question is what if I ride this bike that hard that it would just tear up again, y would I put the same engine in it? Why not go with the upgrade? Although it will void my 2 yr warranty unlimited miles. Oh yeah. It's been 8 months since i bought it brand new. Using right oil and right gear oil which is where my arguements with the manuf come in at but i just sent proof today that i have been servicing th bike myself today.
I saw an ad on your video "something.....sol". About warranty rights. I am watching the video for the 2nd tim but no ads came up fo me to get that info.
    Love the video.

You can buy a spark plug hole repair kit at any auto parts store and you can search CZcams for vids showing examples.

Hello I know this video is a few years old , I do have a question though. ? I just installed a 80 cc big bore kit into my scooter and it sounds like the piston is knocking. I have taken it apart again and cannot find anything . Piston is nice a tight in the sleeve, rings are clocked spaces are offset from each other. I also checked the timing chain there isn't any slop in it. Both small holes of the cam where in line with the head when put back on. Valves are set to spec. It runs and idles and there isn't any performance issues just has a knock and its driving me nuts. Any suggestions . Thanks

@@onelove8509 yes stock head . I took it all apart again. It seems that the metal gasket is the issues there is a slight variance in the cemter. Top of the piston is hitting it. I'm waiting on a new gasket. I have read several different settings for the valves. From .003 to .005 on top. To .004 to .008 on bottom. ..... Thanks for the info

Yes, I know. I was looking for used scooters and they were priced more than the new ones.
If there is a local dealer they add $500 to the price for unboxing and assembling the bikes.
I was not sure about buying it online and having it shipped, but as indicated in my last video it arrived perfect and I can't believe the quality of the build. amzn.to/2hlBHvK TaoTao Thunder Scooter Pricing / Specs.

when I had put the big bore kit in one of my customers scooters scooter it started up the first time I had hit the starter. You don't have to use the kick starter, all you have to do is push the scooter just enough to get gas to the filter. It is my opinion and mine alone that this guy tried but he skipped a few really important facts.

🤨😳🤔WOW!So how can you tell an 80cc big bore kit from an 100cc Big bore scooter kit?🤨 Because if I order a 100cc scooter big bore kit that exactly what I want my order to really be. Because if a seller sends me an 80cc 👀😡🤬and I paid for a 100cc big bore scooter kit .I am going to let the seller know right away so I can send it back for my full refund back😉👍.Lol don't just send me anything..
