    Juan, I think that's funny that you are thinking people to take a break from what you do otherwise on CZcams, but the reason I found you was because you are riding motorcycles on cool Trails. I know this is one of your passions and I love watching these videos as well. Keep enjoying yourself!

    Sorry you weren't able to get through up north. Head on over towards Lincoln and ride the dirt track through Garnet Ghost Town. It'll put you out by Bearmouth which is just a quick hop over to Drummond and down through Philipsburg. From there head over Skalkaho and into the Bitterroot. And then over into the Wisdom/Big Hole or back into Idaho over the Nez Perce. Lots of great riding around there.

    In the mid 1990's I had a motorcycle tour business based out of Bozeman called Montana Moto Tours. I guided and had 6 DR 350 Suzuki's and rented them to my customers. Did it for about 3 years, it was difficult because the season was so short, 4 months at most..... And I was constantly battling the state and the forest service that really didn't like the whole idea, so I gave it up. Have fun, watch out for the critters..... AZ is hot right now so I'm wishing I could be there with ya on my "white" Fe 450, but now we know why you went out and bought that red bike......🤣👍 Thanks!

    • @Lt_Tragg
      @Lt_Tragg Před 2 lety +1

      It’s not only the fuel economy. The sub 300cc machines are enormously less challenging to manage in the knarly environment. The lighter weight means much more fun in the beyond less traveled.

      Side Qs/curious to know... for someone who hasn't done trail riding since their teens (and is now in their early 50s) is there by chance any worthy "automatics" or "semi-automatic" that could "hang" with friends who ride similar trails seen in the video, that ride/own Honda CRF 300s(?)

    • @Diamondog186
      @Diamondog186 Před 2 lety +1

      You could get an Africa twin with DCT but that’s a much bigger heavier bike or you could put a Rekluse auto clutch on the CRF 300. Rekluse would keep you from stalling in sand or going uphill in the loose stuff. I have a Rekluse on my KLR 650 and love it. Only downside is you can’t push start the bike if your battery dies.

      @@Lt_Tragg Same is true with snowmobiles. I recently downsized to a 600 from an 800. So much easier to ride and with the weight savings, the power to weight ratio is good enough for me. I'm 180 pounds and can barely hold onto the machine when I crank it wide open. How much power do you really need?

    I bought one of those 1 gal. Giant loop gas bags also. Along with the Great Basin, Tillamook and Fandango tank bag. Restored my Honda XR650R and turning it into an Adventure Bike. It has the Baja Design light/legal kit on it, it has a Ca. plate. I had a Tenere 700 on order but never came and gave up on getting it. One issue is it is a kick start and I'm as old as Juan. Will see how it goes, almost done with it and will ride local, to Big Bear. They has lots of trails Some very hard to ride even if on a full on dirtbike.

    You make me want another motorcycle real bad! LOL My last long distance bike was a 1978 BMW R100-RS-E. It was built for the Belgium police department, I bought it "grey market" from a dealer here in the US. From 1978 to 1996 I rode it 400,000 miles in the US and Canada. No major breakdowns, and a dozen tire patches on the road! LOL I loved that bike! Last I knew it was still in NY and being ridden! I also had a dozen other bikes over the years. I often wonder if I could still do this - I've been off of 2-wheels off-roading for many years. Looks like a blast, but not sure my arms, legs, and shoulders could handle it now. I'm also 50 lbs. heavier than when I was in my 20's. Only one way to find out I guess! :) I still have my '84 XL350R, but I haven't fired her up in 9 years. Last time she ran was out in CA around Livermore when we went to visit my buddy. I did get that crap gas out of the tank as soon as we got back, then after it sat a year I made sure to get ALL the fuel out of the tank. Hopefully won't be much work to get her making CO again, aside from a new battery. 👍

    The rally version is about 7kg heavier than the normal version if you don't count the extra fuel.

    Hey Juan, love your channel! I’m 5’7” tall with a 30” inseam. Do you think I can reach the ground on while sitting down on the CRF300L? BTW I’ve been riding for 50+ years both on and off road.

    Hi
    Looks great.
    I trust you do not have the same problem of distance error ( 2000 shrunk to 1500 miles).

    I'm curious why they are closing down some of the trails up there? Because of fire danger?

      People buy parcels of land, which the existing [unsurfaced] roads pass through, then get them closed off to public access.

    I'm impressed at how light your kit is. You have a tent in there?
