- The WMSR operates out of Cumberland, Maryland. Its prime motive power is ex-Lake Superior and Ishpeming Railroad 2-8-0 No. 734. The final shot here is of it rounding Helmstetter’s Curve, one of the scenic highlights on the route.
This is also the first and last time I used a monopod to shoot video. - Auta a dopravní prostředky
This is how I remember first seeing it on All About Fast Moving Trains as a little kid. Back when the front of the boiler was still shiny and black, when it had no lanterns, when it had the manually operated bell, and that awful-sounding whistle. I hope it gets repainted again when the inspection and overhaul is complete. It's a shame to see the FPA-4 and the RS-3 sitting there dead and unneeded. I'm guessing when the 734 took over, ALCo's 199, 305, and 1689 were parked and out of service there until they were transported back to the owners, which is a shame, since they only arrived and began operation in 1991. I love steam, but from the videos I've seen, those ALCo locomotives put on some amazing shows during those two years of operation.
Personally I thought the whistle sounded great, but to each their own.
Awesome footage! I got to ride in its' cab back in June 2013!
Erich Diebold Thanks!
So cool for your cab ride
whatever happened to those P70's??
Anyone else watch this at 1.25x-2x speed?
