  • Join me for an awesome antique mall in the heart of downtown Franklin, Tennessee. This Nashville area hidden gem is full of best English antiques and tea accessories. Have never seen so many tea caddies under one roof. Dealers bring England's finest to you, including Mason's ironstone and Flow Blue. See the unusual finds such as 1800's curtain tie-backs, apothecary bank of drawers, and Rabbitware. Over 7,700 square feet of the rarest and best. Transferware, Welsh furniture, and Cornishware are just a few of the interesting finds here. Stylish and efficient kitchenware steals the show. Pop into Scarlett Scales, a local designer featuring an eclectic mix of antique and modern vintage. See the classic tabletop pattern that inspires my fashion find.

    I think the glass bowl in the big tea caddy was to mix the two different types of tea together.

      I was about to say the same thing. My mother told me it was to mix the blends of tea together.

    • @Lucinda_Jackson
      @Lucinda_Jackson Před rokem +1

      Yes, people made their own blends and I had been brought up believing that was the purpose of the bowl. However, a knowledgeable antique dealer told me it was actually a sugar bowl. This makes some sense, too, as sugar was also expensive and safeguarded in some houses. This way they could keep a small, useable amount of sugar handy for a single cup of tea or more informal tea, but still keep it under lock and key. Who knows? Maybe all are true depending upon the household.

    This is the kind of antique store I love best. Really old, fine things. They've lasted as long as they have because they are high quality. They were taken good care of by people who recognized their quality and value. These are treasures from centuries past and we are lucky to be able to be "custodians" of these exquisite artifacts. What an amazing store! Thanks for taking us along 🍷

    I don't think the glass in that Georgian Tea Caddy is a "slop bowl". It's a Caddy Liner aka Mixing Bowl for the two types of Loose Leaf Tea that are usually stored in the two Cannisters. 09:59 The inside of the Cannisters used to be lined with tin/aluminum, and because of age look "dirty". The Slop Bowl is a separate bowl for discarding tea leaves at the bottom of the tea bowl/teacup. This was before the Victorians invented the Tea Strainers. 🤔 There's also a Tea Caddy spoon to scoop and measure tea leaves, usuall one Caddy Spoon of tea leaves per person. ❤️💕🥄🍂🫖
