I Am becoming a professional wallpaper hanger after about 10 installs and I think (with approval of the client) you could have done a plumb line to the right and finish the corner with an imperfect match on some parts of the corner. The way you did it is the easy way and fast way. But it turns out that easy and fast is not always the best way..Thanks for the videos, they are very helpfull and informative.

Yep it happens! I try and avoid it by overlappiing the corner with a full piece rather than hanging one sheet around the corner. Some papers and adhesives are more prone to cause it than others and it can be worse in hot weather.

Interesting point, I haven’t thought of it that way. My rule of thumb is to always have a seam at least 5” from an outside or inside corner. I’ve noticed problems if less than that for sure. Did you fix this with a watercolor pencil? I appreciate that tip- my installs have gotten better since using watercolor pencils. But don’t trust a helper with those! They can make a problem worse by getting the watercolor all over the paper instead of just on the gap. My fault for walking away with a phone call..

I have spent the last 13 years looking at wallpaper seams that slightly overlap. Added to the ugliness of the seam not butted properly, someone painted over the wallpaper. It is an ugly mess. Now that I am retired it became impossible to ignore. I spent three days trying to remove wallpaper using the tool that makes circular scoring on the wallpaper and then wetting it down. I am 78 years of age and it has not been fun. I am going to use some of your technique to help me finish the job. By the way do I paint directly on the drywall or do I spread joint compound over the drywall before painting. Thank you for the information you shared.

Corners are worse now in new builds vs the old homes. I’ll double cut that, or if it’s really bad cut in the corner and get back on track. I did one 4 months ago, half bath 10ft ceiling top of the wall behind sink was 3’1/32”, bottom of the wall was 27 1/8”. My seam behind the sink was on a vicious angle, BUT once I rounded the corner, it went back to almost plumb and only out 1/8”. It all looks straight, but I know it’s way out.

Saying hello from Iowa! Love your work! I just hung a textured faux grass cloth in my bathroom. I have a few small bubbles here and there that are giving me a really hard time. I have lifted up the seam, and pushed the air out. Its gone, but then its back! Now, I must tell u that the walls are old bathroom panel walls, similiar to what you would see in a mobile home. Please help! It is driving me nuts seeing the bubbles everyday! Thanking you in advance for your advice 😊

    • @spencercolgan

Should not happen to a veteran; it was my mistake… You can avoid this by simply doing a better job than I did, by using your smoother, to make sure that the paste is just enough underneath the wall covering, and not excessive like was my case

When working through pesky corners (ones with divets, humps, drywall slag, extra cuts to relieve stress, out of plumb, caulk at the bottom, etc.) I like to lightly fill with extreme tack, let it dry about 80%- 90% then hit it again with extreme tack and apply the paper. That way, it's got the extra "incentive" to stay put, and my natural "pull" of the wallpaper would "ideally" come from adjacent areas where the tack isn't as strong. Thus, a more natural equilibrium should occur like the rest of the walls. At least, that's my theory. I'm not an expert, nor have thousands of installs under my belt. I'm just trying to apply logic & reason. Hope this helps. 0:41

@papeldecolgadura_instalacion santa marta Colombia.
