She realized a crucial component to successfully changing reading practices was parent involvement which meant providing knowledge and resources to help parents prepare their children for science-based reading instruction. Emphasizing the importance of clear communication when collaborating with parents and community members to demonstrate the reasons for change, expected outcomes, and ensure a smooth adaption process for improved reading practices.
Janell also talks about how she anticipated challenges and provided solutions while involving parents and community members to ensure harmonious collaboration with educators and foster an effective literacy environment for all students.
