I love the ideas of promote Social Emotional Learning using videos in a different classroom environments. These videos show students' engagements for each activity.

When dealing with world and local issues you are having the children address. Who’s ideological foundation is used? What moral foundation is used?

If you really dig into SEL you will know who’s ideology they are pushing.

Here is a hint as to where this ideology is used... It rhymes exactly with communism.
Vladimir Ilyich Lenin believed that the young generation should evolve a new, communist morality that would subordinate personal interests to general ones.
That the younger generation should know how to achieve solidarity in their struggle, and being a member of the Youth League means devoting one's labor and effort to the common cause.
The joint work of children should be particularly valued because it is the embryo of collective labor.
If we attribute an educational role to socially useful work, then all children must be involved in it.

I like the idea of incorperating SEL into literature through questions about how characters are handling their emotions.

No. Not everyone has a voice. Kids and people who embrace unpopular beliefs are shamed.

These little kids are so so darling and innocent. Watching these boundary-less, manipulative adults who are engaging with them is terrifying and seriously makes my stomach ache. :(
Just the voice tonality of these adults is activating a physical threat response in me - something’s up. (It’s funny! I’m having that response to every adult in this vid, except one. The woman in the pink top at 5:37. She seems lovely)

It’s extremely creepy esp when you look deep into who’s funding and pushing this agenda. Looks great on the surface unless your too lazy to take a deep dive into it. Unfortunately many parents won’t look past the surface

Character development is not the school's job. That is MY job as a parent. A TEACHER'S job is reading, writing, and arithmetic, at which they consistently FAIL!

It's completely by design too. Science tells them that three cueing is bad and phonics is good, so what do they do? Double down on three cueing, and then throw in some sel activities so that they don't feel bad about not being able to learn to read adequately. The worst part is that you have to have a degree from the schools teaching only the bad, flawed methods before you are allowed to enter the teaching profession. It is becoming the blind leading the blind.
One of the saddest things I saw in elementary school, and this was around 2007 or 2008, was that they had a large poster on the wall of three letter "nonsense words," like lik, jit bif, bav, sep, etc, that the children had to read aloud as a group. This was professionally printed material, to be used multiple times. Anything that lesson could have accomplished could have been done with actual, useful words, but a conscious choice was made to have them spend time each day exposed to random letter combinations instead. That was a big indicator for me that the current system was all about slowing down the natural learning process.

So the statistics don't back you up in your non-experience of SEL prejudices. In fact, schools that provide comprehensive SEL see students grades and grad rates soar and discipline issues, bullying, drug use, violence and suicide decline dramatically. Wherever you are getting your info from, isn''t telling the truth and is disserving you if you have kids - and your kids.

@@cheryllwaldrop9732 Do you know why there are "nonsense words"? The use of them is to help teach kids CVC and helps the teacher know these kids actually know what the sounds of the letters ARE, you know, PHONICS. "Nonsense words" are used in DIBELS testing in order to ascertain whether these kids know sounds isolated from other sounds. It tests children's knowledge about short vowel sounds. It is clear you have no clue what you are talking about. Furthermore, phonics IS taught in the schools, and what was known as "whole language" has fallen out of favor. Stick with what you know. You know nothing about education.
