    thankyou for a very indepth informative video, I'm a keen gardener but coming to veggies for the first time this year and I'm not too far from you in South Yorkshire, so this has helped me immensely as I've already got my raised beds prepped and have started to sew seeds indoors, thank god I came across this channel as I've had itchy fingers to sew seeds from January. new subscriber, I will be following you and know I'll be learning a lot so thankyou!

    Thank you for all your advice. It can get so confusing, but you help me to understand it more clearly. I've brought a grow light and heat mat. I'm starting my tomatoes and peppers indoors like you recommended. You have been a life saver. I have no one else to ask questions to. Thank you. Bea in London. 🐝

    I have to start my broad beans indoors as the mice love them in the greenhouse. Lost all my autumn sown ones in autumn due to the cold snap.

    Do you ever have issues with fungus gnats in the plants you start indoors? I started peppers and onions indoors, and recently moved them on to 3 inch pots. Since doing so, we have been infested with fungus gnats. They are literally everwhere in the house which is horrible. I think they came from the compost I used. Do you have any tips that could help? Or even ways to prep your soil to avoid this? Would maybe pouring boiling water over the compost before use help kill any larva?

    • @ivans-gardening-allotment-uk
      @ivans-gardening-allotment-uk  Před rokem +1

      Hi Emma yes it can be a problem and you are right the only way to prevent it is to pour boiling water over the compost first
      Thank you

      @@ivans-gardening-allotment-uk Good thing I bought a wheelbarrow recently, that will be the perfect place to douse my compost with boiling water for next time!

    • @DeeAnn29
      @DeeAnn29 Před rokem +1

      @@imtinyem hi I’ve got the same problem but also infested outside as well. It’s so horrible, they’re everywhere in house & garden . I used hydrogen peroxide & neem oil. Recently bought nematodes for outside (awaiting delivery) and I was advised by seller that mushroom compost is a big culprit of harbouring fungus gnats. Yes to boiling water on soil but make sure to be using it straight away as the soil will be wet and you don’t want more FG’s. good luck!
