Can you do a video destroying a stupid fb video where they poke a hole in a tennis ball put it on a car lock an push it then it magically opens
@wbap hellcat Hmm, that would just give them more of what they wanted in the first place - attention.
@@Petertronic wasn't thinking any name drops there's hundreds of variations of the video just one well layed out video explaining how stupid it is
Could you please talk about having to tension off of a disc that's not the first disc and how to do that? Thank you.
How does this new pick compare to the 3D printed ones you reviewed about a month ago?
The correct name is "The pick that bosnianbill and i made"
Well, yes, lol đ
Yep yep
đđđ
what? Its been drawn and crafted literally in LPL's basement by him and bosnianbill, whats this guy got to do w. it?
@@miniwaern no, see, lpl always refers to it as "the pick that bosnianbill and i made"
Iâm glad you like it. Great summary of all the little features that not everyone will appreciate at first. Good luck with it!
Any chance any of the prototypes will be given away/sold?
Thank you LPL, itâs genuinely a great tool that will bring challenge and enjoyment to many đđ
I have one to give away, but Iâm trying to avoid the post office ATM
I got mine already! Purchased it the day LPL released his video about it. One question, LPL always rotates the disks clockwise with a tool that looks like it's made for the task. What can a person use for that task who doesn't have a cool looking mini dagger like LPL? I have a fairly complete lock picking set for standard tumbler locks so I'm wondering if a large z-bar or something will work as well?
LPL you should take this opportunity to shamelessly plug the vids you and BB made detailing the design process for this pick.
Most people would buy the pick to open the locks they have. I'll end up spending $45 on the pick, then $200 on some locks.
Dick Dastardly Exactly the same. And I will need to explain to my wife why I buy locks we donât need to use a tool we donât need. đ€
Dick Dastardly so true, lol
đđ Truth.

Wow, now I just gotta wait for Bill to show up and I'll have the whole band together.
............too true :)
It will alway be âTPTBBAIM â to me. I missed the first run of these
I actually didnât know what that meant lol đ
Lock Noob lol Iâm trying to start an abbreviation
Lock Noob âThe Pick That Bosnian Bill And I Madeâ
Came here for that comment and I'm disappointed that it is not sold under this name.
LockedOut đ me too
Already impressed from Bosnian Bills video, but this has helped me understand better the difference between this and the older DD picks. Basically while the sparrows pick can open many more locks, if you already have a cheap DD pick, keep hold of it for the locks that don't have any special restraints as it may be quicker
Yup, keep every pick as you never know!
To one like myself who has no experience with disc detainer locks this was very helpful in your extensive explanations of how they work and how to use such a pick. I've watched and enjoyed both Bosnian Bill and LPL for a couple of years now, but it is only after watching this video that I feel confident in my understanding of what's involved in making and picking these locks. Thank you very much, Lock Noob.
Thank you, youâre welcome đ
Are you able to pick them up easily now ?
Your title is wrong, it should be "the pick that bosnian bill and I made review"
If he were LPL. Yeah
đ€Ł
@@j.a.4360 no it needs to keep this name regardless :-)
Jason_Music thatâs the official name!

Big respect for the transparent review policy, is appreciated and dramatically increases the value of your reviews
Thanks đ
I was one of the lucky 500 first purchasers. I plan on contacting sparrows to ask if they plan on selling extra parts for it. I bought an Abus 20/70 diskus and found out very quickly that in order to pick it I would have to file down the tensioner nose because the front spinner was the exact same depth and I could not reach the number 1 disc to tension the lock. I couldn't bring myself to filing on my new pick and I think it would be cool if sparrows would sell additional tensioning tips with different depth noses for different locks. I wouldn't mind filing it myself but would still like to have an unmodified tip also.
Yes, different tips would be good!
Can you make parts on your own?
Thanks for the review! This is the only one I've seen that explains why one needs one of these.
Thanks đ
Very nice review! I'm really glad something like this came out before I started on disc detainers, it'd make things tougher than they had to be if I was second guessing the tool I was using while I didn't have the confidence in my skills either. Sounds like Sparrows (and LPL/BB) really made a quality tool with a VERY accessible price point đđ
Yes!
Remember people as the Great One says " Stay Safe and Stay Legal". Lol
đđđ
And as always, have a nice day.
I look forward to a disc detainer renaissance where it's now on the manufacturers turn to up their game in this arms race.
I did wonder if Kryptonite managed to buy one before they all sold out.
I imagine they will!
No real need. If the thief targeting you can pick a DD in the first place nothing is stopping him/her.
Thanks alot for the fantastic review, added it to my ever growing shopping list. Take care and have fun.
You to Gazz, stay safe mate!
I'm sold !
Thanks, man.
Love you and your videos.
Weâve waited so long and itâs finally here! Iâm so happy! đ

Great review Lock Noob, as always.
I was able to order one before they ran out thankfully. Just awaiting its arrival in the post.
Awesome! Happy picking!
Great review, this tool is definitely going to make Disc detainer locks a lot easier to pick. & at that price itâs an absolutely bargain.
I agree Daz, great value for what it is!
Have you checked the website lately? It's Currently listed at 1 million dollars!
Excellent comprehensive review, great visuals, thank you for this video.
Thanks đ
such a well crafted genius tool!
Just received mine, and ordered a kryptonite lock to pick, as the clear practice lock was too easy, looking forward to try it
For people who didnt know what this tool is before foming here thats the lockpick thelockpickinglawyer and bosnianbill made
I mention that at the start đ
Great review noob Iâve ordered one paid for it it said I would get an email confirming purchase but never got one so hope it will arrive đđ»
Fingers crossed!
Great review and explanation on basic use. I was lucky enough to get one. Arriving any day now.đđŠ
Thanks đ
Totally LOVE your review.
LPL is my favourite.
He is good!
Been watching your channel and you have made me want to give this a go. Subscribed and now watching your previous vids whilst I wait for my sparrow.kit and revolver to arrive.
Fantastic, and welcome!
Great overlook and review đđ» Mine is finally on its way from sparrows! đđđ»
Hope you enjoy it!
Wow! Great video! That was an amazing description of all the features and why they are there that surpasses the descriptions even the inventors give. You even gave prices in 3 different currencies.
Thanks đ
Great review and also appreciate the section on basics of disc detainer locks too. Thanks for making this đ
Thanks đ
cool review Ash my friend i watched this in Development looks greatđđŹđ§đđđ
Thanks Leon, take care friend!
I first ran across the fact this was made a couple of months ago, and it still hasn't come back in stock at Sparrows since then. (Just getting started here)
Soon we hope!
Its in stock now hurry! I just ordered mine today!
Thank you. Order placed!
You're welcome!
I knew you would give this a dam good review and not because you are biased but because i can see what it is and how much better this is over my cheap disc pick - the cheap one you have to put in some work with it as the tip will come straight off so you need fix it down from day one and have to file the tip as it is too big and the wrong shape plus no markings so you can get lost inside the lock forgetting where you are.
This is the tool for me but sold out for the moment as it should be - should be called The Open Sesame for Disc locks.
Itâs not quite the magic tool though but it IS very good!
Great review!!
Interesting how the cheap locks can be a bit harder with this pick, well explained!!
Hoping mine comes in the next few hoursđđ€Łđ€Ł
đđđđ€ŁđŸ
I hope so too!
Lock Noob it did!!
đđđđŸđđđ
I need to get this one and chinese one too. And make core holder like SSDeV one. Not all DD locks are Abus Plus nor cheapo chinese locks. And I need to wait to get it after all hype , because , I've missed it by mere hours after announcing and being sold out.
Very comprehensive review, thank you. A word of caution, currently during the âŁâŁâŁ situation, UK Customs seem to be jumping on every parcel from overseas and slapping ÂŁÂŁ charges on them. They must be bored because there are fewer passengers at the airport!
I hate customs charges!
Appreciate your review. Iâm hoping to get one.
Thanks đ
Awesome tool, they had sold out when i last looked, great vid, đđđđđđđđđ
Hopefully be back in stock soon!
Thanks for the in depth review.
I'll hold off for a sale, which will let the people who need them, get them sooner.
I hope they come in stock soon!
Just ordered one. Can't wait.
Awesome đ
Without a doubt, you are along with BB and LPL are my favorite pickers
Thank you đ
Great review my friend, canÂŽt wait to order one!
I have a lot of your vids to watch, but I was very bussy last days in different proyects, sorry for that, I will catch you as soon I can ;o)
Take care and stay safe Ash, cheers! ;o))
Thanks Tallan, you stay safe too my friend!
This is such a masterpiece you've made, @BosnianBill and @LockPickingLawyer!
Sadly, Sparrows don't send items to Indonesia.
Looks like Sparrows has made you a millionaire, if only for a short time ;) In all seriousness, it's a nice tool for damn good price. If I was into picking DDs (and if Sparrows actually shipped to my home country) I'd absolutely get one of those. I looks well engineered and thought through - not surprising given who created it, though. Thanks for the great review! I think you did a bang on job highlighting all its features
Lol IâM RICH!!! hehe
I so, intend to buy one. I haven't tried this kind of lock yet and am very interested in trying
Cool!
I like it, I got mine and picked an Abus Plus 88/40 just fine but when I went to try one of Abus granite locks the tension tip would not reach past the first spinner discs. It does now after a quick modification. Just surprised this was not considered
Those Abus locks are usually picked using a tool that tensions off a disc in the centre of the lock, not too tensioning
Clearly on some of these locks and with some skill, top tensioning works, but bottom tensioning is more usual
I been waiting 5 years since they started bill and Harry over a few drinks and the the first lot gone I don't think one made it to Australia I spoke to them the other day and they said it's ready to go all packaging is done just waiting for a release date hopefully very soon they that was yesterday so not to far away you have to have one in your kit it's the icing on the cake awesome gear make disc looks easy as a master nice job lads
Hopefully soon then!
A nice review, I think it sold out in HOURS! I know I tried to get one.
It was fast! Surprised me for sure!
Some obvious ideas for a version 2:
1. Narrower box/carrying case with the tension arms unscrewed and stored parralel. Might be same box as regular picks.
2. Alternative tip shapes for cheap locks and rear tension locks, to be changed over in same handle.
3. Share some parts with a lever pick, in particular tension arms etc.
Itâs really awesome to see how popular this pick has become and how useful it has proven to be. My only question is why hadnât any manufacturer previously address the issues in disk detainer picks that this community designed pick did? The design of this pick although initiative is clearly the natural evolution of the disk detainer pick.
Hard to say actually. Itâs possible that itâs a geographical thing. The cheaper picks were designed for locks common in the place of manufacturer. đ€·ââïž
Very very nice tool đ
Sparrows make good tools and good price.
Agreed!
Nice review thanks for sharing
Thanks đ
Excellent video and a seemingly excellent product. Iâll have to pick up one Iâve been reteaching myself how to pick locks so I can teach my nephew for a science fair. Now, my only question is what is inside that grenade once youâve picked it!
Great video thanks
A 1st class tool, and a 1st class explanation, thank you,I suspect I will be joining a very long queue, billbo.
đđđ
Great review LN keep up the great work/vids. :)
Thanksđ

Ucof doo doo đ©
if supplies get stabilised, sparrows should sell tips separately in addition to the extra one that comes with the kit.
just out of curiousity, would it be possible to fit the extra tip on a different disc detainer? thanks.
I agree with that. The tip could be retrofitted to a different handle somehow I guess
One video I'd love to see is one where you pick the newest ABLOY lock core. I have one of those in my door and the key suggests it is a hard nut to crack.
Those I just donât have the tools for!
The *ACTUAL* name of this tool is "The Unobtanium pick that bosnian bill and I made".
Lol
I bought this and tried it on the Discus 22/70 and the Abus 44/80 i could turn the pick tip without damage but i didnt open either lock. I will need to see the affect on a good visable practice lock.
Abus like to be rear tensioned and they are very tough picks
Will this pick work opening cheap Chinese transparent disc detainer practice locks that sell for $14 on a few sites online. I bought a Goso version. Just wondering if there's too much slop in them to be used by a tool such as this. I have never picked these locks so I'm interested as to what the limitations of this pick are even though you clarified some in the video.
You lucky bugger.... can't wait to get one too.
Thanks đ
Hi! Loved this video. I was lucky enough to get one of these before Sparrows sold out. At 10:25 in the video you show a better acrylic practice lock. Can you tell me where I might be able to find this? Keep up the GREAT videos!

Lock Noob thank you so much!
Great review MATE
đ
Thank you đ
Well done!!
Great review my friend.
Thanks đ
I want it! Give it to me đ€Łđ
Waiting for the next batch
I was thinking that... instead of trying to hold the pick perfectly straight in front of the keywhole.. It would be better to just allow the shaft to retract so that the tension bars are against the lock/keyhole. This way it won't move and will stay straight in front of the keyway. Unfortunately the shaft can't move as far as i'd like to (square part), so I guess I 'll have to grind the round part off a bit allowing to adjust as i'd like . I don't know if that makes sense... New tips (apparently stronger) arrived at sparrows, if you guys are interested.
New tips! cool đ
@@LockNoob I got those new tips, and they look definitely stronger, so far so good ! They are made differently than the previous generation. It's more of a compression fit over a welded one.
Oh, it sold out in much less than a day of sales. I think it was within a few hours (or even within an hour). I knew I should have put in an order when they first created the web page for the DD pick (before they officially announced it, that is).
Iâm surprised by how fast... I wonder how much stock they had?
@@LockNoob yep, LPL released a video on the 8th announcing it would be released that day around 10 AM EST, which I saw 10 AM MST (two time zones to the west, so two hours after release) on Reddit, along with posts of "already sold out." It looks like their first production run was for 600 units.
Since I made that last comment I stumbled upon daz evers video but I'm still addicted to this pic I'm going to do what I can to see if I can make it just as capable
Daz REALLY knows his stuff, so have a go!
LOL! I have that pick and case already a week or so at home never even thought of turning it over and look at the bottom! LOL
Didn't even came up or notice they wrote the whole community project. ^_^
Yes, itâs a nice touch!
Now we need one of your designed picks from Sparrows.
You mean the Sparrows Medusa?
@@LockNoob or the pins that you designed or the gut wrench
Great vid
Thanks đ
They include a spare pick so its replaceable, so it would be interesting if they included a couple of different thickness picks to account for the thick and thin disks you mention.
I donât think it needs that, but it would make picking a bit easier on some locks
Can you do the vegas set, I'm a collectors of playing cards and I also enjoy lockpickig. Cant find a video on it and cant wort out ghe tension tool from the pic. Tgankyou
I want one!!!
I'd get one of these but I think it would just amplify my incompetence with disc detainers. So far I only have those cheap picks and, no matter how much I sand it down with fine grit paper, I still get nothing except a horrible grinding sound whenever I use it on either a transparent lock (where I wouldn't have high expectations) or what I'd consider to be a proper lock. They don't grind with the correct key but they grind like I'm stirring a bucket of gravel with the cheap picks. I'd hate to put a decent precision engineered tool through such torture until I know what I'm doing.
Brilliant, brilliant review.
Could you damage the pick when you are getting it out of the box? I noticed the Bill had trouble in his video.
Yet again just a brilliant, interesting review.
No, I doubt you could damage it tbh
I wouldn't really call that having trouble. It's just tightly held in its case instead of flopping and rattling around.
i hope sparrows make some more fast i want one
I hope so too
Saw they were going on sale - not on the web site - then they were - deciding what else to order at same time to save on shipping - then it was suddenly $1 million Canadian - cheaper than $1 million USD - so I can save some money by buying from Canada
Lol đ
Can you please link to where you purchased the 2 clear disc detainer practice locks that appear in this video? Thanks
Search for disc detainer padlock on eBay đđ
I just ordered mine this morning after waiting a long time for more to come in. I had a cheap one but the tip broke off inserting it into a lock.
Oh no! Well go easy on this one - I don't know any DD lock that needs heavy tension
So happy I bought mine the day it was made available lol
Nice!
Wasn't the sparrows disc detainer tool designed by lock picking lawyer and Bosnian Bill? I believe they designed it and gave it to sparrows with the promise that sparrows would sell it at an affordable rate for all us pickers. I thought that was a really kind thing for them to do
So... Funny that.. I have a couple of Chinese locks, and the cheapy "slightly modified" Chinese pick... Works like a charm, couldn't pick a kryptonite... Got the LPL/BB/S (superpick "my words") picked the kryptonite first try about a minute.. However! Trying to use the superpick to open those Chinese locks is absolutely frustrating, I'll say 70% of the picking surface is air, so it's difficult to get a bite on a disk, and since they are stamped they actually have a slight angle to them so the bit slips off. So if I come across a crappy lock (I chock this up to my lack of skill) I still go for the Chinese pick.
I agree with you
So will this render the Protec2 line completely vulnerable?
Nope
Did it take long to get delivered to the UK? I want to order from the next batch
It came in about a week for me đđ
I found the forked prongs are too short for some locks with a fat anti drill collar.
I plan to shave off a few centimeters of the shaft otherwise I cant even attempt some of the locks I have
Which disc detainer locks do these work on? About classic, profile....??
Not Abloy locks đ
Thank you for the reply lock noob. I have an Everest and a primus if you are interested in playing around with then, just let me know.
Did Bosnian Bill pop out? Glad to see you got a hold of one
Me too!
I wonder why nobody has made a video on picking the Sargent & Greenleaf 0883 or 0881 environmental padlocks with these disc detainer cores. Are they that hard to pick?
I didnât know they had DD cores... whatâs inside? Is is an Abloy of something kind?
@@LockNoob I doubt it. I'd be very surprised if it weren't something proprietary of their own. I'm sure they'll be challenging though; the larger 0881 is designed to protect railroad switchpoints in remote locations, for instance.
These are finally available again, BTW
hello, thank you for all these beautiful videos and your effort. I found it on spartow page but there is a sum of 1 million. can you tell me what this disc detector costs and how or where I am at the momeneasiest to buy. thank you in advance
When they are back in stock I think they are about 45 USD
@@LockNoob Hello, thank you so much for taking the time to make an effort to answer me. Thank you and please forgive me for answering a little late
So add additional index to my tool 180 degrees apart?
Why not!!
the pick that bosnian bill and LPL made
Where can I get this? It's sold out on sparrows website everytime I check it...
Awaiting mine to comine in the mail after following this project since the beginning.
Only have the Chinese cheapo one and their blue aluminium rear tensioning one at the moment, so this'll be a great upgrade :)
By the way, how does this fit in the Sherman cases? LPL and Bill's vids didn't show that and I've already reserved an inner pocket for this tool.
I believe, in the last video of the design series, LPL said it does fit in the sherman case. If I remember correctly, he said something along the lines of unscrewing the tension arms for a more compact fit.
@@CJ-by8ij Yeah, that's why I reserved a spot. I was curious as to how much bulk it'll add.
I could aways make a kydex or leather sheath for it if it's too bulky I suppose.
@@dutch_blades That'd be pretty neat for it to have it's own custom case.
@@CJ-by8ij I've made leather sheaths for a lot of stuff (mostly knives) and I like doing it. In preperation for the disc detainer pick, I made a leather insert with individual slots to hold the Goso dimple pick tips and I love it. Gave me some extra space, keeps everything very well organized, and it was a fun little project.
Worst case scenario would be making a nice pouch/case for the disc detainer pick, but I wouldn't mind :) Just hoping it'll fit in the space I made!
Yes, unscrewing the arms will sort that :-)
Thorough review as always! Are these only available via sparrows? I'm in the UK, trying to save time and money on shipping :)
Not that I know of
Bought one from Sparrows on Thurs... It's on its way :)
And great vid đ
