- Tadej Pogacar is already the pink jersey of the Giro d'Italia 2024 after beating Geraint Thomas, Florian Lipowitz, Ben O'Connor, Cian Uijtdebroeks, Daniel Felipe Martinez or Einer Rubio in Oropa, crushing them as if they were cigarette butts and all after a crash caused by a puncture in the front wheel of his Colnago, recalling the doped Marco Pantani and his triumph in Oropa 1999. Can anyone beat the Slovenian monster after his show at Tadej Pogacar Oropa?

Here's a novel idea, get Pogy, Anchove, Remco, Rog and a few others and just put them (5 to 7) in a seperate race.

What's your view on the fact that pogi was 27 seconds slower on the top of the climb than pantanni while cycling has been improved sooo much (featherweight bikes/kits, better aero, new peek moments) and still cant take pantani's record while he had material "bad luck". If they were really doped nowadays than this record was broken by at least some 20's seconds if you ask me

After a puncture and a small crash, he catches up and makes the peloton look like my sunday group ride. Incredible genetics and hard work.

Has Pogi had highlights put into his barnet? Remember the year Phil G won the WC earlier in the year saw him at the TdFr on the Croix de St.Robert ascent, and the Belgian lads I was with, I innocently mentioned that Phil was sporting highlights, they all laughed and said it was part of his « preparation » for the World Champs in the autumn. At the time it didn’t click. Till he won 😳🤣🤣🤷🏻♂️ feck it, it don’t mean nothing. Just enjoy the spectacle of great racing!
I swear the UCI are given bungs to allow different levels of doping. You got the Pog arrangement, last year Jumbo paid the bills with the golden "POG+ deal" and now they're out and Visma don't want to pay and Visma are now rubbish (maybe Visma has got a Pog deal only with Jonus??). Decathlon are putting money in to get some better terms as AG2R are flying. Caffiene Shampoo lot are paying the old Quick Step deal?? It's all a bit weird

Due to the bike change he didn’t have his head unit on the climb… so maybe riding purely by feel which might have accounted for not a complete destruction of the rest - surged to get a gap then had to settle… vs. knowing his numbers and driving just on the limit for his 3km/7-8min power curve model.
Also Oropa very rarely makes big gaps…

Suspicions aside the race is over barring disaster after only two stages. Well done organisers by starting the Giro with two hard stages and effectively ending any suspension of disbelief.
