Thanks for the review, but going wait for a sale which is a little due to me having the game, but mostly due to personally for me Bioshock Infinite being overly praised this some one who not only brought the season pass, but preordered the the collectors edition which the game was not bad but it was not as good as it should have been.

I remember years back when I had my Xbox 360 I bought used from a dude on Craigslist gave me bio shock included with the console but I never touched it as it didn’t seem interesting to me at the time. I was into mostly call of duty and multiplayer games. But I’m glad I looked into it again as the reviews are amazing for it
Bioshock Infinite is my favorite game of all time. I own it on everything PC, PS4/PS3, Xbox 360/Xbox One. Everything except the switch. Came here to make sure it didn’t have any frame rate problems or resolution. Really glad to hear it runs pretty well! Can’t wait to pick up my copy!
When I bought my Switch Lite, I honestly planned on playing Dark Souls remastered when I couldn't use my ps4, but it's a really awesome way to experience games. I cant get into older games on my ps4 pro because they just dont look good enough. I find I can absolutely enjoy these games on the switch. I've been able to really enjoy some older titles that I wouldn't have gotten to experience otherwise. Gonna try Bioshock tonight. Love your vids man!
As a fellow switch lite owner how do you comfortably play an fps on it? The thumbstick seems too low for my thumb to accurately shoot but I love bioshock and borderlands and currently downloading both. Would you kindly lend some advice.
@@TheSolbadpaladin I agree. The Switch is a great system for tons of titles but FPS games just don't work very well. I've played the Bioshock series on the 360 and PC and while it's definitely playable on controller, mouse and keyboard is the only way to play it that feels fluid and natural. I think the sticks on the Switch specifically though don't have very far to travel which is why an Xbox or Dualshock controller feels better to play on.
Brutally honest review: use headphones and turn up brightness. Doesn't compare graphics with xbox/ps4/pc, doesn't tell at what frame rate it runs at, doesn't talk about controls.
PiterTheGreat2 I mean... Are you saying the game would be absolutely ruined if the graphics were a little dumbed down or if the frame rate was less than superb? I also have NEVER watched a console review in which the reviewer compares the console graphics to the PC graphics of a game.
Lol... The graphics are fine and it all runs smooth. The only lag I've ran into is a tiny bit during Bioshock hacking but it's nothing serious at all. The lighting isn't a problem for me but I also play with my screen brightness all the way up. Kills my battery but I have one of those battery packs that attach to the Switch and let me play for hours on end. The controls are fine.
@@Marvel_vs_Capcom84 when I see a video titled as "brutally honest review" I expect the reviewer to cover off everything and list all pros and cons. Saying "use headphones and turn your brightness up a bit" doesn't quite fit with the title.

I can't really say what I'm liking most, but I'm really really liking this game and I'm getting to understand why Bioshock is such a beloved franchise. On the lighting "issue" - why play on the default setting (and then complain about it) when one of the very first things the game asks you to do is to calibrate your brightness setting? On the price "issue" - millions of people own a Switch, and millions of those don't own other consoles and likely haven't even heard of Bioshock before. To them, it's a new game. Sure, you can get it cheaper on other platforms, but if you don't have access to those platforms, the price of this version of the game is a completely moot point.

The switch release of the Bioshock trilogy may currently be the most expensive but resale value is also exceptionally high, and it will likely remain so. If the total cost of completing all 3 games and dlc comes to about $10 then you've got yourself a bargain.
I bought it for £30 in the UK. Never played them so when I heard it was coming out on the switch thought to myself it was finally time to check them out. I really like especially because of the setting and runs pretty well on the switch. Great review 👍
Saw these games at walmart today when I was looking for Xenoblade: Definitive Edition and was wondering about the quality. Glad to hear that they did a good job on the ports, I haven’t played them before but I definitely will now. My only gripe is that not all 3 games are on the cartridge
I'm beginning to wonder if that's a Nintendo thing, or a company thing. Because, this isn't the first time they split multiple games into digital and physical. Like, Bayonetta, Devil May Cry, and Resident Evil. Japanese versions usually have the entire game on one cartridge, but western versions are usually digital only, so who knows.
Bioshock, in my humble opinion really suffers when not on PC. I played lots of versions and the PC ones, especially remastered are so different to play with keyboard and mouse.
Every FPS game not played on PC suffers, I just do it when is an exclusive like Resistance or Killzone, but even then it is really bad to play with a controller.
@@arthurp3ndrag0n you are right but games like call of duty, battlefield etc just seem to go a little slower, people still play the same angles obvs with aiming issues due to no mouse, but the choices are the same. This game makes me play differently using powers differently, moving differently. Actually you are probably right and I'm all hung up on this game lol. It's no different lol.
@@arthurp3ndrag0n exactly. If there's the option of PC I always pick the PC version of a game. Although compromises have to be made on exclusives. Uncharted, The Last of US. I freaking hate aiming with sticks.
Nice review, got this game sitting on my hard drive at home. I guess I’ll pop in on my SD card and play. Never played the originals. Just glad I get my Switch games for free!
The script I originally wrote made a joke about that but decided to cut it out. The line was "When Im enjoying a normal day with my Switch safely sitting on a pile of Harry Potter DVDS I want to play good games" lol
Disappointed you didn't mention the ridiculous mandatory download with the physical version of the game because 2K cheaped out on the cartridge, that's what changed me from a day 1 purchase to not at all, and is a major consideration for a lot of players.
I wish i could do that. It's 2k rubles over here in russia and i just don't have that much money. Hope ya have fun tho. Bioshock series is great. Even tho infinite gets a little head cracking at the end with its story.
For me it sucks the amount of people I know who loved Bioshock but never play Burial At Sea ... smh Thats my favorite DLC for any game ever! And it takes the entire series full circle
The biggest reason to me to get re-releases on the switch is longevity, on PC you could one day loose your steam account, but you can keep your switch for as long as you look after it.
I really wish they added a custom control scheme i do not like pressing in on my swich lite analog stick to sprint cause it kills your sticks "drift" i hope they patch and add it but i doub it
You can't really complain, the dev did their best with what they could do with the hardware. I have all these games on Xbox 360 in the ultimate rapture collection. I don't think I need to shell out the money to buy them for my switch, I'm pretty extremely selective of what I buy especially if the game came out on another platform years ago, I don't see the purpose in owning multiple copies of the same game on different platform's, but hey two each their own.
I've played and beat the first Bioshock on the 360 years ago and the main part of the game that caught my attention was the part of the game where you walk into a ballroom and a spotlight shines down on you while the background music shifted to Beyond The Sea by Bobby Darin.
For anyone wondering it's mostly 1080p docked 720p portable with solid 30fps also youtube compression doesn't do it justice it's actually looking great on the switch
Absolutely agree about the dark areas being a bit too dark. One other thing I noticed, maybe it's just me, but I found that at default the dialog volume was too low and was having to compete with the effects volume and music.
Grabbing my physical copy today for $29.99 CDN. A much more appropriate price for a Switch collection, although I'd say Bioshock in its entirety is worth whatever they charge for it. Fantastic trilogy that will stand the test of time.
Hi mate the issue with the water causing a resolution drop on Switch is due to the water physics simulation model. The Switch is not powerful enough to run this in a higher resolution. Originally on 360 and PS3 they used a much lesser version . For the remaster they took the pc physics as a base which is why it looks so much much better how water reacts. I agree frame rate is key so dynamic resolution was a good call.
Shouldn’t everything you review be your brutally honest review? I never understand why people call it that. So the review that doesn’t have that title be a lie. Reviews should all be about the pros and cons of a product
For better or worse sometimes reviewers who are obvious fans of a game will do this to emphasize they are still going to provide an even handed view despite their bias.
He stated as a fan he was going to be more critical than usual. Basically tear the game apart and not just praise it because hurray it’s on switch. I get what you’re saying, though I do think his title is warranted.
To be honest, I've never been a big fan of fps games. However, I had heard so many great things about this series that I had to try it out. And I am definitely surprised at how much I've been enjoying it so far. This is my first time ever playing it and I am absolutely engrossed in it. I love how much variety the game gives you in terms of combat builds and options. I've been experimenting with a wrench melee build (since I suck so much at fps games) and it's working pretty good thus far (on hard). I can tell it's going to be one of those games I will most likely play again in the future. That is, after I play the other two games.
Wish they would bring Dead Space and Mass Effect series as well. This was a no brainer purchase for me, love the Bioshock trilogy. Unpopular opinion: Bioshock 2 is not as bad as people say. It was a very good game just not as good as 1 & 3.
ive mentioned this elsewhere but i named my son Andrew Ryan. it was a given id be buying this version for the switch. i give 0 fucks about how much it costs, you are 100% right about it being for the portability factor.
The price is justified that it was reprogrammed for Switch. It's still considerably cheaper than most only switch AAA games because of the number (3 in one pack).
I'm not sure if there is something wrong with your footage but it looks like you have a layer of vasseline covering the screen. The visual look way more impressive in person for the switch
THe price is in part because of its cartridge version which is expensive to manufacture and thus increases price and nintendo doesn't make digital copies cheaperto keep distributers of physical copies happy.
The switch has set a new standard for how handheld games should run. With doom, skyrim and now the bioshock and borderlands collections. The saying, "can it run doom?" should now include "can it run bioshock?" and, "can it run skyrim?" Lol
Review codes were handed out the day the games launched. You seem to be the only review outlet to have a full review up of the entire collection. Just want to make sure that you played all three titles, front to back in order to provide a brutally honest option.
Bioshock 1: 2007 (13 years old) Bioshock 2: 2010 (10 years old) Infinite: 2013 (7 years old) Not quite 15 years old haha... but I agree it's mind blowing that #1 came out in 2007 and still looks aesthetically beautiful.
Ending kinds gives away some things but nothing you'd really understand. You could start infinite ( dlc is kinda spoilers) and not be ruined. It's kinda just a hint back towards the original game
Defently agree with the headphones I never usually use head phones at all but I’m a fan of bioshock and know atmospheric it is and it’s just so good to have it hand held and the headphones are a must

Bioshock a series I will buy over and over, it's aged so well. Frame rates? go play ps2, most games have terrible issues yet got 9's. like medal of honor... Just give us good experiences. Switch games are all over priced, it's more expensive owning a switch with 10 games then a powerful pc with steam.

That is a huge annoyance. It's still worth it tho. Infinite and bioshock 1 are def top 10 games for me
Same working in electronics in walmart has its perks 😂😂😂😂 picked up xenoblade myself
Welcome to the circus of VALUEEEEE!
Get these games... I wish I could forget my experience with them and play them blind again.
" come back when you get some money buddy " ahahahaha
@@arthurp3ndrag0n no one asked
@@arthurp3ndrag0n exactly. If there's the option of PC I always pick the PC version of a game. Although compromises have to be made on exclusives. Uncharted, The Last of US. I freaking hate aiming with sticks.
I hate KB&M. I always use a controller wherever I can. So much more comfortable and intuitive.
Two things I wish I could see/play for the first time again:
1. Breaking Bad
2. Bioshock
Will you be doing a brutally honest review on the borderlands collection and the xcom collection?
I played all three on switch lite and they looked great! I did run into bugs three times! But it's worth 50 bucks!
Nice review, got this game sitting on my hard drive at home. I guess I’ll pop in on my SD card and play. Never played the originals. Just glad I get my Switch games for free!
How do you get them for free ?
The collection is on sale for $30...I’m just gonna get it!
Love the shade thrown at IGN at the end!
Love the subtle order of the Phoenix shout out hahaha!
The script I originally wrote made a joke about that but decided to cut it out. The line was "When Im enjoying a normal day with my Switch safely sitting on a pile of Harry Potter DVDS I want to play good games" lol
where’s the shout out??? lmao
Literally the only option I've ever had to play bioshock.
Disappointed you didn't mention the ridiculous mandatory download with the physical version of the game because 2K cheaped out on the cartridge, that's what changed me from a day 1 purchase to not at all, and is a major consideration for a lot of players.
Never played Bioshock before. $50 for all three. Bought it almost immediately the day it was released. Freaking fun games.
I wish i could do that. It's 2k rubles over here in russia and i just don't have that much money. Hope ya have fun tho. Bioshock series is great. Even tho infinite gets a little head cracking at the end with its story.
For me it sucks the amount of people I know who loved Bioshock but never play Burial At Sea ... smh
Thats my favorite DLC for any game ever!
And it takes the entire series full circle
Fuk dlc
Minerva's den is better
Had the physical copy include the first game completely in the cartridge it would have been a day 1 buy
Lol those arent the same as the remasters
I hope that the next bioshock will deliver us a trip to the center of the earth
I've played and beat the first Bioshock on the 360 years ago and the main part of the game that caught my attention was the part of the game where you walk into a ballroom and a spotlight shines down on you while the background music shifted to Beyond The Sea by Bobby Darin.
I'm still playing this game on Xbox 360. I'm currently playing Burial at Sea 2. I hate playing Elizabeth. 😔
For anyone wondering it's mostly 1080p docked 720p portable with solid 30fps also youtube compression doesn't do it justice it's actually looking great on the switch
I just ordered this for Nintendo Switch before Black Friday for USD 19.99, so got a good deal! Looking forward to it.
Absolutely agree about the dark areas being a bit too dark.
One other thing I noticed, maybe it's just me, but I found that at default the dialog volume was too low and was having to compete with the effects volume and music.
Just picked the collection up on the E shop for 7$ and starting my first play through
If I didn't already have all of these on PS4 for free I'd probably get them on switch.
it's weird to spot people I recognize in other peoples comment sections lol
ibxtoycat woah, that is pretty weird.
Ewolf5150 nah I’m not. Toycat knows me from his channel. I named myself MrHappy before I knew about the ff14 guy.
I'm glad I'm not the only one who has like 5 copies of each game
I just ordered it! I never played theese games and everyone is super positive! ( i paid 20 euro with shippin for a new version with gamecard)
I'm not sure if there is something wrong with your footage but it looks like you have a layer of vasseline covering the screen. The visual look way more impressive in person for the switch
Just bought this on sale for $20
THe price is in part because of its cartridge version which is expensive to manufacture and thus increases price and nintendo doesn't make digital copies cheaperto keep distributers of physical copies happy.
The switch has set a new standard for how handheld games should run. With doom, skyrim and now the bioshock and borderlands collections. The saying, "can it run doom?" should now include "can it run bioshock?" and, "can it run skyrim?" Lol
Let’s be honest bioshock is the best FPS story ever!
And its not even close. Never played a better story for an FPS than Bioshock 1
Review codes were handed out the day the games launched. You seem to be the only review outlet to have a full review up of the entire collection. Just want to make sure that you played all three titles, front to back in order to provide a brutally honest option.
Bioshock 1: 2007 (13 years old)
Bioshock 2: 2010 (10 years old)
Infinite: 2013 (7 years old)
Not quite 15 years old haha... but I agree it's mind blowing that #1 came out in 2007 and still looks aesthetically beautiful.
Thanks for the review. The collection is on sale for 10 bucks on switch and I think I may have to try it after your review.
If you had to pick up One which one would you pick?
So for someone who isn’t into creepy dark games, I can jump into Bioshock Infinite and be alright without playing the other two right?
Ending kinds gives away some things but nothing you'd really understand. You could start infinite ( dlc is kinda spoilers) and not be ruined. It's kinda just a hint back towards the original game
DJ cuellar thanks for the heads up. It’s downloading right now and can’t wait to give it a shot.
Only played bioshock infinite and good lord was the story amazing. Buying 1 and 2 for the switch forsure!
Defently agree with the headphones I never usually use head phones at all but I’m a fan of bioshock and know atmospheric it is and it’s just so good to have it hand held and the headphones are a must
I’ll buy this franchise on every system it’s ever released for. I want to keep supporting Bioshock , so that new Bioshock games will be made in the future. Like the one being developed right now !
My brother played these in PS3, and I remember wanting to get into it, but I never did. Now with all the remakes coming out on switch (more specifically the Final Fantasy franchise) I'm willing to pay the money for it. Thank you for the review!
The gameplay is fun specially on 2 and Infinite.if you really get into the story you'll be shocked. I know I was
I never played bioshock before I just bought all 3 games. all 3 pack on sale for 24.99 2/24/2021
Bioshock a series I will buy over and over, it's aged so well. Frame rates? go play ps2, most games have terrible issues yet got 9's. like medal of honor... Just give us good experiences. Switch games are all over priced, it's more expensive owning a switch with 10 games then a powerful pc with steam.
Bioshock infinite opening in the nutshell
Sees Colombia wow so pretty
Sees the fair oh kay that was fun
Meets the twins I like u two
Meets fink at raffle what did he say?
Kills first cop with skyhook
Oh right this is bioshock...........
Not to say its a bad thing these games are amazing
I got mine yesterday and love it
I would love to see a fallout 4 on switch with a bonus download of fallout 3 and a dead space trilogy
I can only dream haa
One of my favorite games of all time, and bought it on 360, PC, and PS4, though I'm not sure if I want to buy the Switch version.
My girlfriend just got a switch so I’m definitely going to pick this up.
I know I’m in the minority but ‘ infinite’ is my favourite. When it came out It was the game that got me back in to gaming after not having a console for a few years. I just couldn’t get enough of the world/story/lore.
Thanks mate, great review.
I finsiehd Bioshock 1 remaster. I'm on the second game now, a game I've never completed before. ENjoying it a lot. But sadly my game has crashed two times, loosing a lot of progress the first time, and probably also here the second time. :( I'm on PC.
Im 16 and bioshock 2 gave me soo much fun. I wasn't much into infinite because i was so attatched to the story of rapture and the 1st game was probably the only reason i tried the second. I never played past this one part where you walk up to the baby stroller with the gun because i was really young. Got the collection and im starting bioshock 1
This switch game is on sale for $16 at best buy right now.
