      You’re an amazing friend and woman. No one ever deserves to stand alone. Thank you for your kindness which unfortunately evades too many. It becomes just talk to them while you live it. I just saw some of the story of this remarkable woman and I believe she was unjustly convicted. People’s heart is truly the evidence of who they truly are and with Ms Darby it’s clear. My prayers are with her and you as a good person and true friend. Everyone must have one friend in this World. Please let her know, she’s not alone. My heart breaks for her. I believe a new, better life is waiting for her. 🙏✝

      Legitimate witness testimony is notoriously unreliable, so… not necessarily. I witnessed a bad accident last fall, and when the police asked me for details, I drew a blank. It happened so fast. I just remember the car that was hit flying into the house on the corner.
      After a couple of days, my memories solidified a bit. But at the time, I barely was able to process what it was I saw. All I could see was that car hitting that house over and over. My brain was stuck on that detail for awhile. This idea that witnesses are credible has been fully determined to be false. Even criminals tend to have poor recall of their crime.
      This is one of myriad reasons why why forensic evidence is so important.

    My father is an electrician in Philadelphia, PA, USA, non-union. Over the years, his truck has had its tires slashed and other vandalization done repeatedly any time he was in an area known to be heavily worked by union forces. Just for being in "their" claimed part of the city, doing his job. It's given me a poor view of unions from the time I was small.

    • @mandih2351
      @mandih2351 Před 3 měsíci +4

      Understandable reasons why you feel that way. The union leadership should have fired those people responsible for the vandalism and had them arrested. Just like anything else, that experience with that specific union is not a valid representation of all the unions in the country. My father was hit by a semi truck at 1 of the big 3 automakers in the mid 1980s. Thankfully he was a member of the union because they would have fired him for someone not doing their job correctly. The impact from the speeding semi in the tunnel threw him approx. 17 ft in the air and broke several bones everywhere in his body and broke his spine. He could still walk, thank God, but barely. The pain was extreme and my dad was a tough Vietnam Vet that was suffering from Agent Orange. His employer tried using this saying he had arthritis or it was caused by something other than being hit by a semi. This took years in court, luckily the union fought for my Dad so he could heal and gave my parents the time to figure out how to pay our bills. His employer didn't pay him after his sick days were up. There are good and bad people apart from respectable organizations everywhere

      Omg I'm from Philly. Union bullies to the right, to the left everywhere and not working but still paying their dues. I use to understand the need for unions but when they asked for free medical and $60/hr for say picking up garbage, that was it. With OSHA and FDA etc etc and minimum rates up, no need for them to stranglehold our contractors, construction, independent filmmakers and so on anymore. The way they use to disrupt n bully if some poor devil didn't use union workers was an eye opener. Bravo to yur dad!

    I personally don't like people who bare face lie about their health. Saying you have cancer when you don't is a travesty for your husband and children.
    It takes a particular kind of monster to do this.
    Whether she murdered her husband or not is another matter.
    But it is weird how she told her daughter to lie and not tell anyone she'd been out of the hotel that fateful night. To do what one wonders.
    We'll probably never know.
    RIP Charles Darby❤❤

    Just my $0.02, she’s Guilty! The arsenic poisoning, gun found at the hotel she stayed at, telling her daughter to lie, the lack of a stranger’s tire tracks. Plus at the beginning you said there was an explosion (maybe that was the sound of him being shot) all these things together make her look really bad! Each thing separately isn’t strong enough to make a clear determination except maybe the poisoning!

    What really bugs me about striking is the employees who strike lose their money for the days they strike, and the people who don't strike do half the days work. But the benefits from striking are evenly distributed to the employees. That's an irritating consequence of being in the Union and striking when all other negotiations have failed the employees all get the benefit from the striking. You don't have to strike you can stay at home, as your going to have very little work to do when you turn up.
    Strikers never forget those who worked, by sarcastic remarks like "how do you like that increase in your wages ? don't thank us for striking when nothing else was achieving our aims

    I’m not 100% sure either, but if I had to get off the fence, I’d say she did it. Just purely based on the circumstantial evidence. There’s a lot of it, isn’t there? I think the reason why she probably lead a flawless life after escaping was probably because she didn’t want to end up making any enemies in case it attracted the authorities, and secondly because she was just so bloody happy to be out and free. She probably couldn’t believe her luck.
    I think she was interviewed by Trevor McDonald, when he did that docu series about women behind bars in USA. The fact that she’d been free for all those decades was a ‘ must interview’ type of story. One thing that get me though is how she managed to slip through the net with her childbirth background. Wouldn’t they have known she’d birthed before and asked for previous medical records? Like, who her doctor was etc? I know things were less complicated in the 1970’s but still? Can you imagine the shock her kids would have had, your cuddly homely mom is an escaped murderess! You’d be hard pressed to trust anyone again. ✌🏻💚

    I think she probably managed to live a decent life and be a good person for that 35 years because she was terrified of being caught again…I think she is guilty AF though. It’s very dodgy asking her daughter to lie. And she had a history of lying, and cancer is an awful thing to lie about. So I think guilty was the correct verdict here

    Narcissistic behavior at its finest... Not ... I've met a few people who've lied about their Health to benefit Themselves... Makes me wonder what would happen when they really do have something wrong with them... Cry wolf too many times eventually no one will be there to help... Just saying...❤️💚💜🇨🇦

    I live in the town next to hammond, IN… and I can tell you how seriously people take the unions out here. If you find out someone’s putting up a building or working on something non-Union, Union workers will show up and break things or beat the crap out of the people there. They call them rats or scabs. It goes so far beyond picketing out here.. it’s a BIG DEAL in the Midwest and hammond does not play.

    • @Ceerads
      @Ceerads Před 3 měsíci

      I’m a strong supporter of unions. Here in NYC, if a business isn’t unionized, sometimes a union will put a huge inflated rat blowup in front of the business (maybe the union picks a company in which many employees want to be unionized - I don’t know how the union chooses which company gets the “rat treatment”).

    I have recently stumbled on this video and case. As I saw something about this somewhere else. It's wild to me that an escaped prisoner was able to stay under the radar for so long. Are there record's of any man hunt's being started around the time of her escape?. Based solely on what's been said here seems a little odd that an escapee was able to essentially disappear. Now granted I do know that America is a big place and has a lot of states. That perhaps the methods for dealing with an escapee weren't as effective or as well funded as they are now maybe. Just seems odd to me. Now it isn't completely impossible for her to be guilty. There are stats to back up the likelihood of a spouse being the one who did it. Women just like men are capable of committing some horrific things. There are a lot of things that seem to point to her being guilty but also some things that don't make a lot of sense either. It can be hard sometimes to pinpoint what happened in cases that happened so many years ago. Sometimes with the technology etc we have now it's possible to get answers. Definitely an interesting case for sure. I'm going to have to read up more about it.

    Ugh. Again I live in the exact area of this case… nobody here is getting a hotel room in valpo (Valparaiso) if they’re heading back to hammond, even if it’s been a long drive. That simply does not make sense. Valpo and hammond are 40 minutes away from each other and there’s basically one road from hammond to valpo

    Unpopular opinion, but I kind of think she should have stayed free. Only because she was so good for 30 years. I mean, if I were innocent and being put in prison, I'd be desperate to escape, too. And back in the day, before computers and the internet, it was so easy to disappear. I mean, did she do it......I don't know, man. Why would she need to murder her 2nd husband? She didn't murder the first one, and he fathered 4 kids with her. I would think she would just divorce. Or leave. Take off with her kids. Why kill him? Was there money? Was he abusive? Man, I just don't know.

    I think the biggest reason I believe her is because someone who would just shoot their husband in cold blood could NEVER just then go 35 years without getting in ANY trouble again?! Us true crime junkies know it’s very extremely rare: if ever? I can’t think of one off the top of my head. Telling her child to lie is certainly suspicious.. but it was such a different time and I think people forget that a lot. She could’ve easily just wanted to sneak away for drinks or even for an affair. I think she’s most likely innocent.
