- A vision is turning into reality, as the BMW Vision iNEXT becomes the BMW iX. The BMW iX is the symbol for a new era of mobility at BMW. Conceived for fully electric driving pleasure from the outset, it completely redefines the successful concept of the BMW Sports Activity Vehicle (SAV). With its newly developed, precise and minimalist design, the BMW iX is the first model in a future-oriented generation of automobiles, which are redefining the driving experience, the feeling of space, and the relationship between the car and its passengers.

Propulsion comes courtesy of the fifth generation of BMW eDrive technology. The drivetrain developed by the BMW Group generates, according to the latest calculations, more than 370 kW/500 hp, and allows a range of over 600 kilometres in WLTP cycle. That's the equivalent of more
than 300 miles according to EPA test cycle FTP-75. (All specifications regarding mileages, energy consumption and range are predictions, based on the current development status of the vehicle.) The new charging technology on the BMW iX allows DC rapid charging with an output of up to 200 kW. This allows the battery to be charged from 10 to 80 percent of its total capacity in under 40 minutes.
Behind the powerful appearance of the BMW iX lies a lot of high tech. One symbol of this is the new BMW grille. This “intelligent surface” contains cameras, radar and many more sensors, takes on digital functions, and has a self-healing effect. As far as the driver is concerned, the technology
remains in the background. Its functions are only apparent when they are being used. This Shy Tech philosophy makes for new design elements in both the interior and the exterior.

@@m_g_khatravinsky funny thing about this design is the FACT that it dwells in the past by implementing a fake ugl grill that it doesn’t need in the first place. Then copy the ugly past i3 C-pillar that no body liked! So yea you are absolutely right. BMW’s design dwells in the past, so it deserves to die.

Sad to see the exterior design struggle. Generic siluette and if unbranded it would rather hint a Mitsubishi or Skoda (which looks better imho). I own 2 BMWs so no hater here :-/ Whish BMW to get better.

I love how BMW has tech on the interior that they quote, "Don't want in your face.." But, they don't mind having a grille on the outside that is clearly in everyone's face...
Andits not even a real grille. From what i understood of the advertisement, this is just "painted on" and behind it is tech for autonomous driving. So it doesnt only look absolutely hideous, its useless aswell

The perfect car for millennial and gen-z buyers. I think that BMW knows perfectly well what they are doing. This isn't a car for a 30-yo small business owner or a 40-yo exec. This is a hip, new, trendy and instagrammy BMW for 20-25-yo new buyers of BMW. And especially those from the rich and upcoming markets. Not the dying and struggling west (EU and US).

This is a true design masterpiece, mash a Citroen cactus and an i3 together then add a dab of signature “butt cheeks grill” to the front and observe how bmw will fade into irrelevance by missing out on the electric revolution using a design language like this.
This is the modern “Bangle” disaster. You would think BMW would have learned the first time they let someone screw up their car design.
This is truly a Bangle reloaded fail. But Adrian van Hooydonk has proofed in the past, that he understand good design (see the M8 Gran Coupé or other creations). Someone should urgently stop the iX manufacturing machines, before it reaches the mass.

@@BMW Being different does not necessarily make you special. Anyone can design a car with razor edges but that doesn't mean it would look good. I wouldn't call this a good move on your side guys. And making fun of your main buyer demographic won't really help you a lot either.
BMW The question is if it‘s all about individuality even for the sake of losing your fanbase? Don‘t forget your fanbase are the people staying more loyal with the brand, advertising the brand for free and spending quite some money.
You guys forgot to implement the front licence plate into the design. Which is fine, i don't run with front plates even though it's illegal. Ticket is cheaper than a bumper. 😂
My god, I thought the new bmw 4 series looked ugly with the new grille, but this is atrocious. The front looks like a chinese knock-off. From the side it looks like a van. Why do car manufacturers feel the need to make the electric cars different? Just make a 3 series electric. Just make a 4 series electric. I don't want this niche crap.
Anyways, I think BMW will have a hard time selling this and it will be a massive fail. In comparison the Audi etron is a work of art.
Echoing my very words that I've been saying for years! I really dont understand why they cant just make straight electric versions of the 3, 4, X5, etc. The iX3 is the only one i really approve of because it's got the nice X3 design, and it's electric. The drawbacks being that it's not available in NA, and it doesnt have xDrive. But clearly if they can make a straight BEV X3, they can do it for the rest of the lineup instead of making these monstrosities. 100% agreed with you on the e-Tron series, especially that gorgeous e-Tron GT.
Also, why does this need a grille for? it looks like a tacked-on piece of cheap plastic, which it is.
It will be a shame if BMW became the next Nokia. Love my 3 series 320D and would buy an electric version no questions asked. No need for niche car.
