Currently BOOKed with some of my favorite reads 📚 What are some of yours?
Into The Water by Paula Hawkins is super dark and suspenseful. you should check that one out.
Celeste Ng!!! Girl you need to read her book Everything I Never Told You! 😭😭
A Map of Betrayal by Ha Jin! Super interesting book, kinda slow paced but it's pretty substantial and I love it so far 🌸
It ends with us by Colleen Hoover!! It’s amazing
The Kitchen God’s Wife by Amy Tan is one of my faves!! It’s so heartbreakingly honest and insightful and I love a good mother daughter story!!
You know Jenn is a true businesswoman when she knows how to sell every single book she mentioned just like THAT
Jenn- 'This book kinda shows how difficult it is to dispose a body'
Joe Goldberg- 'Hold my books'
Rozat 1213 exactly what i thought lol
"This book shows you how hard it is to dispose a dead body"
So don't kill people! Because it's hard afterwards! 😂
LOLOL! It's one of the MAANY reasons not to!
I found this book had many loopholes to be honest, Malice by Higashino is much much better!
can't you just like... go to the countryside and throw them into a lake?
sienna while you pick them a guy in a black jacket notices a hand poking out and you have to shoot him too and then others see you and now the government is looking for you -I hate when this happens
Honestly, when i feel depressed, anxious or bored i just reread any of the Harry Potter books to comfort myself. Lol.
🙌🙌❤ ... ALWAYS!!!
Loving this book club 🌈🥰
Yeet
All the books you describe always sound worthwhile, but now I realized, it might just be your descriptions. The enthusiasm and the unique details you remember are everything.
“Where’d you go Bernadette” was the fastest read for me because it was so addictive. Valley of the Dolls is one of my all time favorites too!
I'm also a big fan of the book, "where'd you go Bernadette"
I'll have to check it out!
@@imjennim the movie was chef's kiss!
the moment you said 'it's got to hook you, and then reel you in', ive been realized that im reading book in a wrong way. lately ive been forced myself to read a material that had been recommended by my friends and i just go with it bcos it's a classic and literature and it suppose to make me feel smart and cultural while reading it. but at the same time im not enjoying the book. i guess i need to put it down and find another one that really entertain me.
it also helps if you're not forcing yourself to read it for those reasons. i forced myself to read most classics during school because we had to, but once i didn't have to anymore, i actually picked them up on my own lol
also, let's not forget that most people don't read through certain classic or nonfiction books like through those normal fiction books haha
I don’t even read books and this is making me want to read ❤️
Eman Elshboia i am interested to read however i find myself to get bored easily. As Jenn said, gotta find the right book! But weird enough for me, if i read the book through a screen (phone/laptop/pc) i read it super fast. 😳🧐 if its a solid book itself, i get bored....
OMG “Pachinko” was such an amazing book, especially since I come from an Asian background, it really opened up my eyes to the historical connections😭😍 I would’ve never guessed that you would recommend such an amazing book! Plus, I’ve never been this early on your channel, and I’m proud😂
I also recommend Demi Moore’s memoir, “Inside Out” if you have not read it already!
YeSSS, I think coming from an Asian background makes Pachinko even more impactful. Best I read in 2019! Unputdownable for sure! 💕
She's recommended it I think twice before on her channel. I bought a copy months ago bc she mentioned it. I still have to read it tho 😅
I read Pachinko a couple of years ago. I'm not Asian, but getting to Jenn's point about enjoying reading about places you're familiar with, I was living in Japan at the time and had visited South Korea. A year after I read it, I got to visit Jeju Island with my work and I was ecstatic because that was the island the family originated from. It was also very interesting to read some about Japan's history and the racial history there, even though I loved living there and really enjoyed the people and culture.
Love when Jenn recommends books either in her favorites or in these type of videos. She has a way of describing them that makes you want to read everything!
Hey Jenn, do you have a goodreads account? I’d love to follow you and see your shelves!
just last week I was going thru her old book videos to find recommendations for quarantine and she uploads this. talk about perfect timing!
I love how when I think of Jenn I think of a sweet girl, but watching this I can see her depths really well (not that you cant usually see how smart she is). It's also insane how I want to buy each book she talked about
a sweet girl .. who loves her murder stories >:D
I always click so fast on your book videos. You always have great recommendations and give insightful descriptions. So glad you started a book club.
I remember you recommending these books in your old monthly favorites! Great to see that these gems have stuck with you😍

i've been itching to read! thank you for such a diverse & solid list
I’m obsessed with curl up club! I absolutely love the concept and the aesthetics of the feed/stories ♥️ deffo what we need in our lives, especially during this time! Can’t wait to read Pachinko because as a European I’ve always wanted to know more about this sad part of history. Thanks for your recommendations ♥️
Aww thanks Anna! n_n
I don’t read, but i play your video while i do my morning stretch. Somehow just listening to how enthusiastic you are about the books sounds very uplifting to me ☀️ Please continue to share what you love whether or not we like it, because thats what makes me love you and your energy so much ♥️
Yes! Love your book recommendations. Stoked for the book club
Jenn, your book recommendations are always on point!
I have been watching CZcams all the day. Finally see you video! It is so nice. Thanks for sharing ur life ♥️
I read Dark Places thanks to your recommendation and also got super hooked into Gillian Flynn stories!! I’m so glad that the book made it on your list again here!
!!!!! Excited to check these out, thanks Jenn!!!
I just got Dark Places!! It’s gonna be my next book to read! I’m currently reading You are a Badass! It’s very inspiring!😍💕👌🏻
I just finished "Memoirs of a Geisha" and it was phenomenal! A fictional character, but based on the real hardship of training to become a geisha. Set in the early 1900s, all the way through life in Japan in the second world war, simply amazing.
I don’t like reading books but some of these sound pretty interesting so I’ll try to give them a try! Thanks 👍
Pachinko is VERY interesting, heartbreaking, beautifully written. =)
ok but I've just rewatched your two last videos on books and now this came out 💜 ily
The Bluest Eye by Toni Morrison! Also one where you feel like the protagonist is speaking to you in her childhood years. 1960s, fighting against Eurocentric beauty ideals & what it means to be beautiful as a POC.
Just ordered 3 of the books you recommended - excited to read them!
I'll definitely have to check out after I do, sounds right up my alley
The content, education, inspiration, editing, aesthetic...why is everything so perfect?😳
omg i absolutely can't wait to read all these recommended books!!! i've loved reading since young but life got in the way and i gradually spent less time reading, but i'm hoping to get back to it during this period hehe
Thank you for making these videos, they really inspire me to read more especially when I get lazy. Also your point about books that make you empathize with both sides, I have to agree! Those types of characters can really make a book interesting.
Yay more recommendations for quarantine reading!
I love love loooooove these videos of yours, honestly every video youve made of your fave books ive looked into and its always great when u put in your impression of each book✨👌🏼
Love watching your channel and reading books.Your so inspiring and I hope to be loke you when I'm older 🥰💛👍
I screamed when I got a notif for this video ❤️❤️❤️ honestly I live for these book recs videos 🥺👉🏻👈🏻
Darn it Jenn! It’s 2AM in London and I can’t stop watching your videos. I need to be up at 7am to finish my grammar practice before my live lectures! I love your videos, I only recently found out about you and don’t usually watch youtubers’ channels but your content always has this peaceful and calm vibe (probably all the white colour in the background) and you’re so smart and sweet.
i always am so happy when i see you upload a book recommedations
Loveee when you give book recommendations ❤❤❤
Hi Jenn - I loved “Maybe you should talk to someone” by Lori Gottlieb. It gives a raw and honest voice to the personal experiences of practising therapists and what really goes on in their minds when they are in therapy sessions with their patients, while juggling with their personal lives in their own realm as well. it helps that Lori brings in hilarious elements to her writings too! The book was a total winner for me.
Absolutely agree. This book was so much better than the actual therapy sessions for me. It helped me overcome depression and suicidal thoughts
Also, I just listened to Demi Moore's biography "Inside Out". It's amazing. Raw and beautiful. I could have never imagined that I would relate to her on such a deep level.
just want to say i appreciate your videos/ energy so much! i always watch one of your videos when i’m feeling kind of gloomy to cheer myself up & get back in the right headspace! :-)
I was JUST looking up book recommendations and suddenly I get a notification from one of my favorite CZcamsrs with BOOK RECOMMENDATIONS? The universe truly works in mysterious ways 🥰 hope you're doing well! Thanks for the lovely book content 💖
Thank you!!! I needed this
Awesome!! This is just what I need. Thanks Jenn 💖
the timing of this video though!!! i've been wanting some good new book recs (and my type of fav books are similar to yours!) thanks for this video jenn

I love ALL your videos! We love you!
These are my favorite videos Jenn so personal!!
So thankful for your book recommendations ❤
Your book videos are my favourite!!!
I LOVE your videos so so so much. You are amazing jenn ♥️
Yesterday I finished Patti Smith's Just Kids. It's a memoir about her time moving to New York in the late 60s and 70s, her meeting the love of her life, the struggles of an artist. It really moved me. She doesn't hold back, is incredibly poetic and describes so many interesting people that were around in that time. Highly recommend. Feel like you would enjoy it.
Hi everyone it's your girl Jenn~~~ I love the opening all the time❤️
Jenn you should read Trevor Noah’s biography “Born a crime”!!! It’s so good, highly entertaining and eye opening about growing up in South Africa
I had to read it last year for summer reading for school, and i didn’t expect it to be as good as it was!! It was surprisingly funny at times and i finished it in one weekend, couldn’t put it down!
I love these videos jenn❤️
love listening to u talk about books. u make me wanna read too ❤
I’m so happy you’re posting so many more book videos
Hey Jenn - Congratulations on the launch of Curl Up Club - your passion for books and gaining knowledge is easy to see. You just radiate and become so enthused when you talk about your reads of the day/week/month/year.
'The Devotion of Suspect X' is one of my favourite reads and other titles from by Keigo Higashino are also very good x
Looking forward to seeing what other recommended reads come via the Curl Up Club x Hope all is well and stay safe and healthy x :-)
Thank you, Haseena!
The pink suit and everything in your outfit today matches so well ✨👌🏼
Loved this video. Definitely inspired me to start reading again.
I've never met a girl who like 1960s like me! So happy we have a common interest !
Also you should watch the detective X's movie in Japanese version. It's gonna make you cry!
Oh my god girl, I'm in the middle of making a book recommendations vid AND THESE ARE LIKE HALF MY RECOMMENDATIONS. pachinko is BOMB. and I LOVE Higashino Keigo. I better do some more research lol.
Currently reading Little Fires Everywhere! My recs:

Sunday is my fav day cause I know I get to watch Jenn’s video. 😍
Dark Places is my favourite book! Thank you so much for recommending it to me a while ago! 😍
Also, Pachinko is amazing! 😀
I should start reading more books and lovin the books that you have introduced! 😍
I love it when you talk about books cause reading is my fave hobby! I am reading Pachinko for Asian readathon that is happening this month & I am enjoying it so far! I recently read The Guest List by Lucy Foley. It is a murder mystery set on an isolated island in Ireland! I listened to the whole audiobook in a day!!! Highly recommend 🙌🏻 I hope you’re doing well 💗💖💕💫
i just ordered pachinko and little fires a few days ago!! excited to read the rest of these :))
Great recommendations, thanks. I am always searching for new books and you seem to have a really good taste. Definitely going to read some of these. ( i already read the seven husbands of evelyn hugo, little fires everywhere and dark places and all of them were great)
Im so appreciative of your videos because you motivate me and inspire me to live an active, healthier life especially in quarantine!! Bc time is still going by very quickly for me, even without reading, which is not good for me haha.
anxiously awaiting the may curl up club pick!
I'm a Japanese studying abroad in Canada. I think I really need to read "Pachinko" as a Japanese who loves Korea.
I always study English by watching your videos Jenn. Thank you so much for all the fun and amazing videos :) My dream is speaking English like you!
I'm stoked to be early for your book recommendation video! People like me in Singapore here still have 4 more weeks of lockdown to go so we sure have more time for reading~ Hope you and Ben are holding up well so far... 🙆
Pachinko!! I read it over a year ago but it definitely sticks with me. Currently reading Dear Edward and I’m really enjoying it so far!
Thank you! You’re the only person I trust for book recommendations. Most of my “to read” books are from you ☺️
Recommendations:
- The Outlander series by Diana Gabaldon (There’s a tv show, too.)
- The Designer by Marius Gabriel
Thank you for the recommendations. I'm really excited to give some a go. Jenn, do you read all of your books with a kindle? And which kindle? I have just ordered the newest paperwhite and I'm so reluctant to use it as a love a good old paperback. Does it just take getting used to?
You are my go-to person for book recommendations!
Yesssssssss! I love this!
I'm putting all the books that Jenn recommend that I have not read yet on my TBR list in Goodreads.
