I have run in these shoes 4 times, doing a different kind of run each time.
Run 1: WUP/CD to break them in before/after a workout in different shoes. They felt really firm and slightly horrible at these paces.
Run 2: Light trails at slightly faster than easy pace. They felt lovely on the trail, the extra bounce from the trail and lightweight nature of the shoes made them feel natural and nimble at this pace on the trail.
Run 3: Workout 3 mile, 2 mile, 1 mile, with 2 minutes rest. They felt lovely for this, at these faster paces where you can maintain good form throughout the workout, they felt very lively and springy. I love these for this workout, although during the 1 mile rep I was slightly disappointed in the pace due to the fact that these are fairly natural and don't give any extra propulsion.
Run 4: 8 mi tempo at half marathon pace. They comfortable at this pace, but not as comfortable as the run 3 workout. By the end, they did feel a bit firmer than I would like in a long tempo shoe. At a long steady effort, you definitely notice yourself working harder than you'd expect from a plated/superfoam shoe like the endorphin speed 2 or even pro 3 or vaporfly. That being said they were still very nice for this kind of pace.
Why did I buy this shoe when I have 4 other pairs of workout/race shoes that are certainly faster? I think this is the best option on the market for a really lightweight, unassisted workout shoe. I wanted something relatively stable that I can start to use for workouts, so I can feel that extra pain, and use my plated shoes on special occasions so I can feel particularly good.

Biggest issue with the shoe is its price, the opportunity cost at that point is way too high.

Have you tried Asics magic speed 2? ($150)

Have had this shoe for about three months. Don’t find it’s suited to the longer slower run but for faster work on the treadmill in particular it’s my go to. Find it a bit tight in the heel after say 10km and often put a cloth Band-Aid on just to minimise chances of blisters. I like this shoe but not sure I’ll get another pair given they are expensive and have a fairly narrow range of use at least for me.

Hmm, was wanting Brooks to bring back a lighter option like they used to have with the T7 Racer. That was a great and underrated shoe.

I've always like Brooke's shoes I just I can never strictly use them for running a lot I'll start a little bit and then after I'm already back to other brands that typically have shoes with a lot more energy returning them or a lot more fun or not too far on a cushion side

Brooks seem to be catering to heavier runners, their latest midsoles are all quite firm compared to other brands.. the ghost 14 was nice & soft but now the 15's are like bricks

Or they are just lazy and dont want to improve their old foam technology

@@thespacetime Brooks don’t do ultra squishy marshmallow foams. The firmer foam simply takes a bit longer to break in. I have a pair of Glycerins and the foam is still great after 800miles. All other brands I have tried the foam bottoms out at around 500miles.

How this compare to deviate nitro 2? Plan to get a shoes for speed workout and can handle long run , not sure which to go

Good review. I have heard that the foam takes a bit of time to sort of break-in. So I’m wondering how all your thoughts might change after more runs in them.

So what’s comparable and better? The Saucony Endorphin Pro Speed 3?

Which is more stable Brooks Hyperion Max or Saucony Endorphin Speed 3 for longer runs?

Also what would you say has more ‘pop’ / best for a bit speedier work?

    • @Dryskelol
      @Dryskelol Před rokem +4

I own both. The HMAX is definitely the more stable shoe and has a firmer sole compared to speed 3. It is less roomy than speed 3 and foot felt locked in. Definitely the speedier shoe vs speed3.
