      You see, this 붕어빵 is not available anywhere in my country. I asked a friend to buy some of the replacement iron grills from Korea, and mail them to me. From there, I attempted to sand cast them out of molten aluminum. Its not quite right.
      The Japanese variant has a different shape, where the tailfin points upward. The Korean variant is a unique shape, and is extremely difficult to find outside Korea. I couldn't find the foundary, only a local supplier.
      I went through great lengths to recreate this food. The recipie for the bread dough is only available in commercial quantities, and is very difficult to replicate, requiring almost 20 different ingredients.

    Interesting and thanks. A family owned and operated shop I would guess. There was a clip on YT about a similar set up about a shop in India (?) that recycled plastic to make multifilament sewing thread. The first couple of steps with the Indian process that turned plastic bottles into sewing thread looked a lot like the first few steps with the zinc buttons. Except, the plastic steps were conducted at a lower temperature.

    Is there a special reason for having a layer of copper electrolysed on the zinc surface before the special black paint is applied?

    • @dennisyoung4631
      @dennisyoung4631 Před 2 lety +2

      Yes, copper flash before nickel, to help the nickel stick to the zinc better. This gives much better durability and resistance to corrosion, especially when handled and washed.

      @@dennisyoung4631 Your knowledgeable reply was very interesting, thanks.
      I used to love electrolysis as a kid, experimenting with my chemistry set, before all that fun was prohibited 🚫 by worry warts. We also used to make gunpowder and fire lighters, causing lots of explosions and maiming our selves in the process.
      My friend blew his hand apart, went to hospital and got stitched up. It never appeared in the newspapers, but in today's world, a 3 month court case with someone sent to prison for 15 years would ensue no doubt.
