- In this weeks episode I talk awkwardly into a camera, run some wires, install a tachometer, and ride around talking into my helmet. Oh, and there are llamas and horses!

Very nice. Thank you!
Thank you!
Nice job man! By far the cleanest and best looking tac install I’ve seen on the monkey so far. You’ve given me false confidence that I can install it as simply as you did haha
Thanks so much! Honestly, this install was pretty easy especially with the harness for the Monkey.
@@UnknownOverLand doesn't look easy, I'm.mot so good with wiring. Of you pointed out which connect to which would be much nicer.
Once you ride for awhile there is no need for a tac. You soon learn the feel of the bike and should be able to pick up on its limits. Same goes for those that think they need a gear indicator, you should be able to feel what gear you are in at any stage without an indicator.
I totally agree, being able to hear and feel the bike is ultimately way more important. Goofing around with the engine, it helps having some amount of added information.
I saw your video and really liked it. I've been wanting a tack on this bike. Your install and the tach looked great. So I ordered one. The install was pretty fast less than an hour but the headlight was a real problem getting back on. All I have to do now is finish programing the clock X cetera. Thanks for the great info plus Google translator really helped.
Glad you liked it! That headlight space is such a pain with the wires in there, if only there was even a little bit of extra space it’d be so much better. Without some kind of translator, I’d have been totally lost!
That's a pretty clean install. Nice upgrade to the Monkey!
Thank you so much! Doing any kind of performance mods, this likely should have been my first addition change just to get a view on what's going on with the bike.
Looking good!
You sir, know your shit 👍🏼
Thanks!
Nice....I just purchased this kit for my Monkey and the install was OK but trying to figure out the programming in Japanese!
Glad I found your translation on getting it configured correctly. :-)
Thanks!
I'm so glad that helped out; I totally got to that part and just stared for a bit without any idea what to do. What else have you put onto your Monkey?
@@UnknownOverLand
Just got the Monkey about 2-weeks ago so not much yet.
I also installed the Koso Volt/Amp meter with the nice steering stem clamp mount that makes it look like factory install as it sits recessed in the mount.
Thanks again....
Sorry......a question for you.
Did you find a way to change the temperature from ºC to ºF?
Love your Yellow Monkey....that's what my wife wanted me to get but red was much more available on remaining 2019 models.
Not sure how I missed this comment, sorry about that. I did not find a way to switch that to ºF so far. I tried a couple things but just couldn't figure it out. Looking at the manual again (and attempting to translate a bit more) my best guess so far is that it can only do ºC as well as only a 24hr clock (unless I missed something).
@@UnknownOverLand
No problem....
Appreciate the response, I concluded the same, that it's only setup for ºC
Works well otherwise and really like the RPM readout.
Thanks
Great video. She purs like a kitten.
Thanks so much. Definitely a fun bike.
I'm wondering why we haven't seen any trail tech installations on the monkey. They definitely come in much much cheaper.
Not sure, perhaps I'll have to look for parts in the future.
I like it
Thank you!
take a look at the Takegawa Super Multi DN Meter for the Monkey .... the Tachometer witch should come from Factory !!! Wonderful all in one piece
I’ve seen that, and really it’s a nice piece since everything is in there. I’m not sure what I’ll do ultimately, I do like the blinking eyes of the stock, but maybe that’s not enough.
How do you test a sensor RPM on Takegawa
have 2021 monkey and i want to change the in take with factury exhaust do i need to do ant ICU/ECU changes ??????????
If you're changing both the intake and the exhaust you may want to look at some kind of ECU flash or perhaps even just the Bazzaz to help balance things out.
Quick question mate. I have a 2019 Monk, with Yoshi 19-22 exhaust set, short air intake and reset ECU. I have a Taki tach on order. What RPM ranges do you consider redline?
If you haven’t tuned the ecu (or replaced it with some other option) redline for the Monkey is around 8k RPM usually.
We have almost the exact same setup even down to color lol, what kind of rpm are you seeing at 55 and 60 mph?
Awesome, it's a nice setup! If I'm just going flat out, around 61MPH I'm seeing the bike sit around 8100RPM.
Hello, thank you for your video, you saved my life, I installed the same Tachometer this afternoon.
Do you know how to have the time displayed immediately when the ignition is switched on instead of the temperature Thank you in advance
(Google traduction)
Merci d’avance
I’m glad the video helped! I don’t actually know how to have the time instead of the temperature pop up first, though it seems like it should be something doable!
I have so many upgrades on my Honda Super Cub. Nor the tools or the knowledge to do them would love to have you work on since you know your way around the 125 engine so well. Every one in my town only works on Yamahas or Harley's and the Honda shop wants a arm amd a leg for service done to my bike
O well i might have to just break down learn to fix and upgrade and get some new tools
The Super Cub looks like an awesome bike. Don’t be afraid to dig into it and learn how to fix it yourself. There’s lots of information out there, and the Super Cub (and the Monkey) are nice tools to start working on.
@@UnknownOverLand have you seen the honda hunter cub 125. I cant decied if I want the monkey or Hunter cub for my second bike
The Hunter Cub looks pretty cool, especially in that matte color. I still somewhat prefer the look of the monkey overall, but both look like fun bikes.
no just the intake
Ah, the intake is a little more tricky. It’s definitely going to make the bike run leaner but you might be ok if that’s it. You’ll need to watch the temps and the spark plug to really see if the bike is running too lean. I’d likely look at a bazzaz or a tune just to be a little bit safer.
Where do u get the ecu?
The ECU at this point was stock with the Monkey but I had it flashed by DHMotoring since I had installed a new Cam. This involved mailing my ECU to them to have them tune it and send it back.
Over revving is a sure way to cut the life of your monkey. Lubrication suffers, valves float and you actually make less power. Why dont you just but a bigger bike?
I actually have a bigger bike (also on this channel) which is why I like using this little bike to play around with different mods, but I do get what you're saying; sometimes an engine can really only do so much.
I like it
Thank you!
