    Nice Video, I own both Grips as well, although I like both Grips, there are some additional Pros and Cons.
    Cons: If you have a Color Nikon Zf ( I have Sunset Orange) you might notice some discoloring from the SmallRig Grip perhaps due to the rubber rubbing against the front of the Camera, this is something that wont appear on the Camera when using the Nikon Zf GR1 Grip.
    Pros. The SmallRig Grip feels (In My Opinion) better in the hand when attaching Long Lenses, and you can also install the Really Right Stuff Universal L-Bracket directly to the SmallRig Grip, whereas the Nikon Zf-GR1 Grip feels equally as good in the hand as the SmallRig Grip when using a Small Lens, but not with a Long Lens, and unlike the SmallRig Grip, you can't attach an L-Bracket to the Nikon GR-1 Grip.

      Thank you for your detailed feedback and for sharing your experience with the grips! Your insights are beneficial, especially since I use the black Nikon Zf model. It’s great to hear about the differences in performance with different lenses and the issue with the discoloring on the Sunset Orange model. Your observations will surely help others make more informed decisions. Thanks again! 🙏

    The thumb rest is all that is missing, (since there is no longer a film advance lever to jamb your thumb against), you don't need that deep of a front grip as long as there's something for the thumb to grip against. Sad that Nikon does not sell that version world-wide. It is hard to tell from the video how much of a grip your thumb can get. My Zf looks great, but my Z6 body is more practical and easier to take and shoot.

      I have the Nikon, SmallRig, and Neewer grips. I specifically bought the Nikon grip thinking that the thumb rest portion was going to be the big benefit but it turns out it is quite small and doesn't add a significant amount of thumb purchase. Big waste of cash. IMO don't waste your money on it. I like the look of the Neewer grip the best but the SmallRig rubberized texture is much grippier so that's been the winner for me. I also think the SmallRig has the best battery/memory card access.

      I want a sticky grips like the ones Sony sells for the RX line. I even bought one for the back of my Zf, but I had to trim it and it looked jakey.

      Is there a photo where I can see your setup? Sounds unique.

      @boundaryscience Před 2 měsíci

      @@Sefev_ Sadly, no, but the AGR2 Attachment Grip is 13 USD for the Sony model and ~10 USD for an off-brand that doesn't say "Sony" on it. You have to trim around the Sony anyway since it covers the "i" button otherwise, though.

    I'd go for the Neewer one...nikon's price is just insane for an accessories.

    was going to buy a Nikon Zf but decided to keep holding onto my Z5. I am going to continue be patient and hope a Z6iii or a z5ii is released this year.

      @Sefev_  Před 2 měsíci +1

      What is holding you back from buying the Zf? Is there a feature or is just the style that doesn’t appeal to you. Yes, need the z6iii. 🙌🏽

      @@Sefev_ the main reason is the hand grip. I shoot manual so using the dials would be my preferred method but I rather have ergonomics vs manual dials

      @@WidePhotographsif the grip is the only thing toping you, can get a really good one and cheap, like the smallrig of some generic with good grip really nice, the ZF it’s a really beautiful ca,era really well built, if you shoot manual only, the Zf it’s perfect for that!.

    • @WidePhotographs
      @WidePhotographs Před 2 měsíci +1

      @@kainlestad since I am not a professional photographer, I will continue to hold off from the Zf. Love my z5 but would like to have BSI sensor for better low light shots. Let’s see if a z5ii is released at the end of year. Thanks for all of your feedback everyone.

    I have both the smallRig and the Neewer and now considering the Nikon ZfGR1 but I don't think its goin to make a difference. the camera its too heavy for it's size and needs a bigger grip. should be 1/2 to 3/4 inch plate and should have a back bump like the GR1. I'm 5'10' and 210 lbs. (not fat) someone make a USA version.

    All of them look strange on the camera. But went with a really nice half leather case.

    Small rig. i can't get SD car out without using a tweezer! Only once in 13 times using camera to take card out to transfer files into pc, was I able to 'pop' card out. Small-average fingers.

    • @Sefev_
      @Sefev_  Před 2 měsíci

      I totally agree that taking out the SD card can be quite a challenge with the SmallRig grip. Comparatively, the Nikon grip seems to be more user-friendly in this regard.
