  • It's finally here. It's already put a smile on my face so it's all worth it. I've attempted to register with the UK HMRC (to see if there's any VAT due) but they - understandably - had never heard of it so requested more information.
    The task ahead looks more than a little daunting but I need a project.
    I look forward to making regular videos about it as time progresses.

    Thanks for making the video. I suppose it is scootering but it seems a far cry from one to me. I used to ride a top of the range Burgman 650. I was expecting they would have a better seat. The seat on the Burgman was fantastic. I suppose you could fit an aftermarket cushion. My motorcycling days are over owing to heart and balance issues but this looks the answer. When you say it’s a budget vehicle, it doesn’t seem that way to me. My old Volvo V70 is worth about 1k, is superbly comfortable and drives like the day it was made. Not as much fun as these look though. A year is a long time to wait. I wonder if it’s any quicker now.

    one more thing Nigel there's a gas powered version of the same thing that that also killed or is it just just gas and and and it appears to go much faster I think it was 100 miles an hour but I think the weight is considerably more as well and then you have to register that is a car for sure I know more driving on the bicycle paths with that thing. Can you drive on the bicycle paths with the scooter version?

    • @NigelPond
      @NigelPond  Před 3 lety

      Hello, I thought you were allowed to ride on the cycle paths in the Netherlands but a recent post by Carver says that's not the case. You can't ride them on UK cycle paths (I don't think there are many that would be big enough to be honest...).
      The original Carver One had an ICE drive unit. There are still some around but only 200 ish were built...

      Hi, I'm not directly in contact with the manufacturer so can't really help there. As far as I can see you can't charge and move at the same time, for safety reasons. There's no other connector to charge other than the standard plug.

      @@NigelPond MOST OF THESE CARS HAVE A LIMITER FOR SPEED. aND SOMETIMES IT'S JUST A MATTER OF TAKING OUT A RESISTOR OUT OF THE COMPUTER THAT REGULATES THAT SPEED. YOU SHOULD ASK THE COMPANY TO GIVE YOU A SCHEMATIC SO THAT YOU CAN PLAY AROUND WITH YOUR VEHICLE BECAUSE YOU REALLY ENJOY YOUR VEHICLE SO MUCH AND YOU WILL REPORT YOUR CREATIVE IMPROVEMENTS TO THEM IN EXCHANGE FOR THEIR HELP. MOST PEOPLE DATE MOST OF THESE COMPANIES DON'T WANT YOU TO MAKE THEIR VEHICLES FASTER BUT THERE'S ALWAYS A TRICK AND DOING IT AND WE INVENTORS, NEED TO FIND THE TRICK AT ALMOST ANY COST. ALSO IF YOU IMPROVE THE SPEED THAT MEANS THE REGENERATIVE PROCESS ALSO IMPROVES AND MORE POWER ALSO GOES BACK INTO THE BATTERIES. SO THERE IS ONLY A WIN-WIN SITUATION HERE IS FAR AS i CAN TELL AS LONG AS YOU DON'T MAKE THIS PARTICULAR VEHICLE GO HUNDRED KILOMETRES AN HOUR BECAUSE OTHER THINGS WILL BREAK.

      @@Lesthehandyman I have a good relationship with Carver but they're limited in the amount they can help for legal reasons. The Carver has European certification as a specific type of vehicle. If I, or anyone, were to change the Carver it would have to be re-approved (we have a process for doing this in the UK) so I understand their reluctance to help. If I were to injure my self or someone else it would reflect badly on them.
      I have discovered the 'hack' to de-limit my Carver already. It released a small, but very useful, 5 MPH.

      @NigelPond  Před 3 lety +1

      Where are you getting your figures? They're selling for €9k plus... I agree that initial manufacturing costs will be high but that's the same with all start-ups. They will have to expand beyond The Netherlands to reach scale and I believe the top speed will be an issue in achieving that (Most comments on my videos suggest that's the biggest reason for not wanting one). Also, biggest reason for the original Carver One failure was the pulling out of the engine manufacturer I believe.
