As a highly rated seller, I’d just like to add to eliminate scammers altogether, is to put” I will not respond to is it available!” Using that headline in all my listings has completely eliminated scammers even thinking about contacting me. Usually within the 1st 10 minutes of a listing being published, is scammers reaching out. Never respond to is it available or next most likely they’ll ask for your phone number. Great video!
That has nothing to do with scammers. Is it still available is literally the default button every buyer must use to initiate effortless contact. How you can't figure this out is beyond me

I have sold a couple of things on marketplace. I sold a vehicle about two years ago. That sell went really well. I sold it very quickly. This past week I sold a sofa and loveseat set. Because we are getting a new set. Had a lot of responses to it but the first few were scammers. I'm glad that I figured it out and did not give them any detailed information. Ended up selling it in less than 24 hours and a lady came and picked it up it was really in need of one. She couldn't believe how low I listed it for but I kind of just wanted to make sure I could sell it before the new set comes. So, the main issue I have with marketplace is the scammers. I'm thinking they are foreign and still peoples pictures and have very little on their profile. They insist on paying online. I don't have a zelle account or a venmo. They all disappeared when I told them I take cash on pickup
Unfortunately, there are always opportunists out there who are on the take. That's why I take cash only.
Zelle is built into every banking App so if you have a banking account you have zelle
I have sold my late mother-in-law's jewelry at the police station. They have cameras in the lobby and parking lot.

That is what keeps me from selling on MP. I am 10 miles from a PD. Not far from the FD but driving more than 10 miles cuts into the amount of $$’s you can make if you are paying $3 a gallon for gas.

I'm a new viewer and just want to say I absolutely love your channel. One way I save on my budget, I know you don't use zip lock bags but I live in a small mobile home and the zip locks help with saving space in my fridge and pantry. I will take that bag and reuse it by turning it inside out and throwing it in the washer and air dry it . I'm able to reuse it several times.

You can’t be too careful nowadays. If I’m buying or selling a rather expensive item I wont meet anywhere except the sheriff’s office. I’ve had several refuse to meet there which shows that they were up to no good.

I sold a tiffany style lamp on marketplace and only looked at others online after, only to realize I let it go way way too cheap! 10 years ago, nobody wanted these! But when I checked marketplace availability sold, I see I was somewhere in the middle, too low for sure but not scalped as bad as I thought....lol

I am a full time reseller so just some additional comments to add. If you sell more than $600 and ship on any platform they will require SSN information for tax purposes.
Facebook Marketplace offers ZERO seller/buyer if something does go wrong.
I have in the past sold on Marketplace but the new algorithm isn’t very conducive for selling now (just my opinion mind you) so selling in local community groups or NextDoor is a better option.
I am interested in the full time reseller job. Do you purchase low and sell high? Any tips for someone looking into this as full time job?

That can be SO much fun, Marianne. I used to sell electronics at our annual Hamfest. I met so many fun people doing that and put some cash in our pockets.
I use to sell and give away free it became a nightmare . I was Harassed many of times for how I look. To point got so bad they hacked my account got my cell number. Called me and leaked my info. I had change my number and get my info took off site. So people becareful.

Great video. I’m feeling very smug as we already do all the things you’ve suggested in this video for selling on Marketplace and eBay. We even use the foam board light box trick. Here in the U.K. Marketplace items don’t seem to sell for as much as they do on eBay. We find we can make more money selling on eBay even after fees and shipping costs.
I think Ebay is better for bigger ticket items, where FB Marketplace is better for smaller ticket items. Why? The wide audience of Ebay provides access to deeper pockets, and the shipping cost on higher priced items is more easily absorbed into the overall cost. For lower-priced items, shipping makes the over-all price cost prohibitive. Also, selling higher-priced items locally can make your home a target (even if you sell it a a police station, since people can fairly easily look up where you live anyway).

@@horacepierce9210 that’s a very accurate assessment of low value vs high value on each platform especially with regard to the postage. I tend to stick with high value items as I find the process too tedious for a small return.

You may have mentioned this in the video, I'm listening in the background while I work, but are there better days to post items on Marketplace than other days? Kinda like buying gas during the week is better than a weekend day for example.

I love the Facebook marketplace me and my husband do alot of door pick up and have already made a couple thousand dollars on stuff we don't use anymore like video games and old phones :) idk any other app or place that does at door pick up

Thanks - loved the tips on how to find previous sold for prices on Ebay and FB Marketplace and also the ‘lighting’ tips on creating a lighting booth! By the way, do you ever sell items for other people? We are living in Mexico now and have a few cool items to sell, but it’s a bit tricky shipping them from here (I think it creates doubt in the buyers mind when they hear things are located in Mexico plus the shipping prices from here are insanely $$ - would be better to send a few at a time to an honest reliable source to sell for me). Leave them in the box and show a photo of what is in the box. In our example I had already taken the item out of the box. So, having the actual box really didn't increase the value at all.
@@UndertheMedian For a new item from an unopened box, you can grab and use stock photos from manufacturer's websites. This is especially useful when you have a box that is hard-to-open or unpack for pictures. And, it is generally best to not open a box which is sealed in plastic, but rather leave it sealed.

Is the info that says how much things sold for in marketplace only accessible on a computer? I only use my iPhone right now and can’t find how to do it from my phone.
Remember if a buyer asks for your cell number and personal info they are scammers.
Never give that info out and report the scammers and delete them after reported.

After you get the photos on the iphone how do you get it on marketplace?
I connect my phone to my computer and upload the photos. Then I attach them when on-line. I would assume most people just do the whole thing from their phone, but I'm old school.
I export them from the iPhone to my Mac computer using a Bluetooth function called "Airdrop." It transfers all the photos I have checkmarked on the iPhone to the "Download" folder. If you don't have this capability you can connect your phone to your computer using your USB charging cord. If you still have trouble ask someone among your friends of family that can help you.

The chances of being ripped off by any online store is 8.9 in 10. NOT good odds. Then there the extremely high odds of having your package stolen at your front door.

Why Do People Post Sold On Items In Facebbok Marketplace??? Its because they been told the price is too much by another person. So when they do sell it they want everybody to know they got what they wanted for it. Especially that person who told them the price was too high. Its just a way to gloat. ( I got what i wanted for it, see everybody, you see)

Do you not get all your medical /dental/ opticians costs free as you are a single parent? Don’t want to assume you haven’t already checked what you are entitled too but hope that you are entitled getting help with these particular services.
people should understand if your selling pre purchased items you should not expect any more then 50% of the original value of the item... i'm sick and tired of people trying to sell pre purchased items for a whopping 50 dollars cheaper.... anybody with a brain would choose to buy brand new...
One question: If I can sell a CAR and a BICYCLE on Marketplace....why won't they let me sell a WHEELCHAIR?? Please don't say it's against their policy of NOT allowing Medical or Healthcare products.
