I dunno weather I want a massive 4K Ultra HDR Smart TV paired with Xbox Scorpio or a 27" 4K monitor paired with a PC... I'm liking the sound of the XBOX Scorpio. I already love Xbox One S and I just feel that steam isn't the same. Xbox UI Is just so clean and nice looking and the achievements screen is beautiful but then you looks at steams achievement screens and it looks like utter shite. I'm really not sure. Xbox Scorpio offers minimalistic simplicity with a target of 60fps on 4K Ultra HDR settings on a massive screen. I just don't see any benefit for a PC anymore...

I think the hate is due to the fact that the xbox scorpio might very well be the end of the console cycle as we know it. The end of console generations and the introduction of the regular upgraded consoles just like how the phone market works. And yes, there is more options for the consumer but that also takes away from the convenience of consoles. I would be fine with a new console releasing every 1-2 years but as someone who would buy at least 12 new games a year, I couldn't possibly afford that. Soon, the current xbox one will become obsolete which contradicts what phil spencer said about "no one gets left behind". The current xbox one will eventually be treated like a last generation console which will then force xbox one owners to switch to xbox scorpio as their old console would receive the same support as a last gen console. People will be confused how this whole new format of consoles will work, including myself. No one will know when should they upgrade until their old console receives few or none new games which will then subsequently force them into buying another model. Having a new console every 5-7 years is fine but if the xbox scorpio is the direction gaming is taking, then I want no part with consoles as their primary selling factor, their convenience is gone.

that was true in the past but now that the architecture's are basically the same and you have new API's like vulkan. that will come to an end. also closed system's usally get overtaken eg android but having said that steam boxes didn't really work out did they! but what if microsoft or sony allow the steam boxes to use there software that might happen or not time will tell but i think were either on the verge of upgradeable consoles or bi anually or even yearly releses and maybe even different classes of consoles. not all people want to build and constantly download drivers like on pc. but anyway it's a great time to be a gamer and i for one will be very excited to see what actualy happens but in the end the free market will find a way and we as consumers will be better of for it. i for one would like to see upgradable consoles don't my buying a new faster card to slot in every two years to keep on the moore's law curve like i buy a new phone ever two years for 300$

what planet to do play games on? I'm running a single 980ti and I play 4k @60. only occasional drops to 40 in Fallout 4 on high settings! so okay sure! it won't be the "ALL SETTINGS ON HIGH" 4k experience. but that's not bad specs! just be glad that games will be held to a higher standard. this will probably mean more stable games for the PC port!! we don't have to play games made for sub par hardware! Tucker Leavitt I play Witcher 3 all maxed out 1080p on a GTX 980 OC and I only get 45-60fps. Fallout 4 graphics are shit. Can you GPU do the same with Crysis 3?

hello, Cloud computing? crackdown 3? do you guys even know what's going on? I'll run it down for ya. on crackdown 3 xbox one will be able to utilize the microsoft cloud, the cloud will do most of the computing giving xbox one the equivalent power of 20 xbox one's. they will do this with scorpio.

This will be the shortest console lifespan yet, and very few people will purchase it for lack of games etc. 4. MASSIVE overheating issues, even with whatever Sony does. Should call it the Xbox Flame..may literally catch fire. 5. The average person will not even own a 4K TV until 2025. Only hardcore enthusiasts. 6. Six Teraflops, yeah ok, well there is more to what's under the hood than that. Sony don't need to reveal ANYTHING because they aren't desperate, and are sitting on top of the world with sales, fans etc. And may surprise everyone with a 1070GPU, as opposed to a modified GTX960 which is what MS will probably use. In ATI terms though. 7. Game sizes will exceed 100GB, so these systems will have to have at least 100TB HDD's. 8. 4K gaming, or upscaled gaming will require a connection few people have or can afford. 9. As stated in the advert, they said "we're doing this because it's what the people wanted". Because of all the brats complaining about 720p games, and lack of 1080p 60fps games. So they have caused this MESS. Brats. 10. Look at how long 3D tv's lasted before they flopped. Most people don't give a shit about VR, 4K, oh what was it they said "we have the best pixels?" 1. 6TFlops is good enough for 4K on Medium-High at around 30fps. A 760/950 can do 4K on low at 60fps in certain games. 2. GTX 960? I don't know man... 960's aren't capable of 4k and only output 2.4 teraflops. It seems that this GPU they're using is actually closer to the GTX 1070 in terms of teraflops.

I've been gaming since I was five and honestly I don't care if I have a PC, Xbox, or PlayStation I just want fun games. I honestly play everything. My first system was the first Xbox. Well it'd of been footage of current capabilities anyway. Developers actually need to make/port games for them first to actually make use of the tech. It takes years, usually as long as a console generation lasts for developers to unlock the full potential of a console. You only have to compare early title releases with late ones within a given generation.
The power is impressive for a console, however it worries me for its future as well. This GPU is essentially a hybrid between the 390-390x both of which while solid budget cards they still only are good for 4k 30fps in most titles. I'd imagine most devs will target 1080p 60 fps well before 4k which will probably be for sports and racing titles. Who knows how optimization will impact this though. The amount of detail harnessed from the little power they've got now is impressive.

GTX 980 Ti has 5.6Tflops and it can compete with Fury X which has 8.6Tflops
+maroom1 yeah nvidea is running higher clock speeds whereas amd is focusing on more compute units :)
rx 480 is about 5.6 teraflops for 200$ not that incredible

that was true in the past but now that the architecture's are basically the same and you have new API's like vulkan. that will come to an end. also closed system's usally get overtaken eg android but having said that steam boxes didn't really work out did they! but what if microsoft or sony allow the steam boxes to use there software that might happen or not time will tell but i think were either on the verge of upgradeable consoles or bi anually or even yearly releses and maybe even different classes of consoles. not all people want to build and constantly download drivers like on pc. but anyway it's a great time to be a gamer and i for one will be very excited to see what actualy happens but in the end the free market will find a way and we as consumers will be better of for it. i for one would like to see upgradable consoles don't my buying a new faster card to slot in every two years to keep on the moore's law curve like i buy a new phone ever two years for 300$

1. 6TFlops is good enough for 4K on Medium-High at around 30fps. A 760/950 can do 4K on low at 60fps in certain games.

We have come so far in gaming. It is awesome to unite everyone together to play games. Games aren't just something to entertain us they are a part of our daily lives. The power is impressive for a console, however it worries me for its future as well. This GPU is essentially a hybrid between the 390-390x both of which while solid budget cards they still only are good for 4k 30fps in most titles. I'd imagine most devs will target 1080p 60 fps well before 4k which will probably be for sports and racing titles. Who knows how optimization will impact this though. The amount of detail harnessed from the little power they've got now is impressive.
