    Orleans, Indiana, is a pretty small town. Don't get me wrong, it's got a few places here and there. It's even large enough for a couple gas stations. But it's also large enough for three sirens.
    The town has two Whelen Hornets, and one 2001-SRNB. This particular siren is on the north side of town near the high school. Originally, it was just the 2001. After doing some digging, it appears they got the 2001 through a grant, and originally they were going to get a Modulator from the sounds of it. The Hornets were installed later, sometime around late 2013 into 2014. It appears the local school district bought them, or at very least had some influence on these installs.
    Another thing worth noting, is that there was a different dispatcher on duty when these were tested. So we didn't get that unique DTMF sequence we usually get. This probably means that Paoli's Hornets did wail, instead of the now usual "hi-lo".
    Enjoy, and as always comment, like, and subscribe for more. Thanks!

    Would you consider doing a video detailing the differences between each type of siren call? I've not heard them all enough yet to remember which is which (full attack, fast attack, wail, alert, etc)

      Yeah, I could do something like that.

      That would be really cool. I’d share it cause a lot of people don’t know much about that. Where I study, theres a brewery close and on tuesday they had a Modulator II mounted and tested. People thought it was a Tsunami Warning cause we’re close to the coast and the sirens here (which have never worked correctly and are never tested) are supposed to sound in case of tsunami.

    Is that a running track I see behind the hornet, or am I wrong?

    Did you hear the SRNB right after the Hornet deactivated?

    • @DSRX100
      @DSRX100  Před 5 lety +1

      From this location, not as much. They have another hornet that's closer to that 2001 where you can hear it better.

      More like Orange County as a whole, but mostly since it's very close to me. Like, a half hour at most. Plus, it's a surprise each time I go there. You never know for sure what the siren is going to do.

    So.... The 2-tone activates the Hornets as well? I didn’t know that. I thought they only activated through DTMF.

    • @DSRX100
      @DSRX100  Před 6 lety +1

      Surprisingly yes, but only Orleans's Hornets. All the other Hornets in the county activate by DTMF.

    • @niks_crazy_world
      @niks_crazy_world Před 6 lety +1

      DSRX100 I have another theory - the other city’s hornets (not Paoili) do the same as Paoili’s hornets with the weird activation. Then these hornets activate with the 2001 on the 2-tone. The first set is for the T-128s, as you’ve already figured out.

    • @DSRX100
      @DSRX100  Před 6 lety +2

      The other city with a Hornet, which is West Baden, only does alert no matter what. I might try it again to confirm, but I think it's been programmed alert so that it matches French Lick. The two towns are right next to each other, just a small creek separates them.

    • @niks_crazy_world
      @niks_crazy_world Před 6 lety +1

      DSRX100 Yeah, I figured that out when I mapped out the county sirens. I also did some scouting around the hospital in Paioli and there’s a small blip that looks like a Hornet but I can’t be certain as the streetview sucks.

    • @DSRX100
      @DSRX100  Před 6 lety +1

      Yeah, I already knew about that one. In fact, the first Hornet I did that sounded hi-lo was the Hospital one.

    Dose this siren work as the same as the modulator or is it different im talking about is played by sound cards this siren or does have a normal tone

    • @DSRX100
      @DSRX100  Před 6 lety +1

      This siren, like a modulator, is completely electronic. It's pretty much a large speaker, and needs a tone generator and amplifiers to work.

    • @bellahpetersen1733
      @bellahpetersen1733 Před 6 lety +1

      How come its so small and its that loud it like the sound bounces off the speaker or something

    • @DSRX100
      @DSRX100  Před 6 lety +2

      Yes the driver is mounted backwards, facing the horn. The sound then reflects from it and is directed outwards.

      @Haitham Aldosari How? Where are your start and end points at? It literally just takes minutes driving across a bridge to get from one state to another. I've been there. Look up Paducah, KY, and Metropolis, IL. You'll see, the states literally border each other.
