Whelen Vortex R4, Full Attack/Wail: Martinsville, IN (Morgan Co. Tornado Siren Test, HD)

Over the summer I tried something different and drove up to Morgan County. Unlike surrounding areas, Morgan tests the last Friday of the month instead of the first. I was here back in March, but the siren on the south part of town failed. Doubting it was fixed, I instead drove to the city park. Not to mention, the environment was quieter. No major highways in sight. Maybe just a couple people walking their dogs. That was it.
Once 11AM hit, the sirens closer in town went off for a full cycle of attack/wail. This one, silent. How frustrating, and a waste of gas. I was going to get the drone out, but I felt that it was going to ruin the ambience; the only usable footage I'd get...or so I thought. Just as the sirens in town shut off, I decided to start shutting down. As I was just about to hit stop, I heard something faint come from my scanner and then the siren went off and I jumped like maybe ten feet or more. I also learned there's other Whelen's activated on this separate system. Seems like they were coming from the east. I'll need to find those soon!

UPDATE 5/22/18: This siren has been replaced with a 2904
Apparently their Vortexes were having some issues. I know for a fact one was not working a few months prior to recording this one.

This siren has a very powerful voice. It’s a shame it had to be replaced. BY ANOTHER WHELEN!?!?

Our town has the same company, but it's an wps-4004
In gatlinburg tn, they had a whelen wps 4004, kinda like the whelen vortex, it was probably burned by the wildfires and was replaced with a federal signal modulator 5020
That's close enough, they look and sound almost identical.

If you listen carefully at 3:44 in the video the siren receives the deactivation tone telling it to shut down and stop

Yes.
How close did those other sirens sound? I know of 2 east of Martinsville but they aren’t very close. There’s also 2 north of town as well
I want to say a mile or so. I know of a couple that direction too, but they're too far away. Where are the sirens north of town located?

The closest one I can think of was Painted Hills Lake, but it sounded like it was coming from a more easterly direction. I guess it's something that's very new. I'll check it out.
Let me know what you find out! I emailed the EMA director asking about sirens in the county but he's reluctant to share that info with me unless I go meet him in person. Doesn't seem that he actually wants to meet with me because he's not willing to flex his schedule for me to make the hour drive down there during the work week.
That's interesting. Especially because Monroe Co, to the south, lists all their locations online and here it's a secret, like it's classified or something. I'll probably drive around there next time I'm in the area and see what I can find. How many sirens are on your map? Matt sent me a spreadsheet years ago, but I think it's outdated now.

That is the attack signal you're hearing(Please, people who consider fast wail as attack, stfu). Usually, wail is considered attack. Fast wail is its own separate thing.
It is so super awesome you know I been seeing echoes inside the voice of wheel and tornado siren named Whelan I think that's Whelan's cousin right there he is waiting on alert to go off I have an echo inside my voice when I go in the other room my echo would be so superb but anyways next Friday there will be a lockdown drill and we always practice drills every single task every task we do is like fire drills lockdown drills Intruder drills and the third one is related arts and every world has to do every single work on your computer when they have to stop when they're doing there's going to be a game but guess what I'm going to a new work I am going to Dorman on October the 5th and I will miss you guys in November I think there is going to be a pet turkey next Friday November the 5th and end of October we will be and oh yes Whelan is right there there it is trying to see that's amazing!!

Loud one time there was a siren next to are house and it was this whelen vortex
My town has the same sirens, there's one right next to my house and it's loud enough to wake me out of a stone cold sleep.
I think Odenville Alabama has one but the ema says it don't work but i think it was working in 2011
