  • RB30ET VN! Welcome to Part 1 of my BT1 VN Commodore RB30 + turbo conversion. I'm going to go through the process and explain as much as possible as I'm going (hold tight as I tend to over explain when I'm saying everything I'm thinking haha). I've done a lot of engine conversions before but I haven't put an RB30 in a VN before so I'm learning a bit as I'm going.
    I'm bringing this forgotten BT1 VN commodore back to life in the best way possible. Its getting a spicy engine to suit the rear end. Tubbed, shortened diff, 325 tyre, coil overs, 4 link. Is it over kill? Absolutely - for now anyway. Make sure you hit the subscribe button to stay up to date!

    I should add, I know a could have used a bolt in radiator like a VL rad. But I have a pile of old Corolla radiators and this is a budget build, it cost me $0.00 to fit this radiator haha 👌

    Looks like it was made to be in there with that Holden writing embossed into red on the rocker cover.

    Yeah i have one use vl kframe, radiator and gearbox cross member. Tailshaft is vl front half vn back half bolts together. Manual pedal box from a vs for hydro clutch.

    You've done it again, Jarared, so simple mods at a budget price, and no big dollar $$$ tools, also thank you for taking the time to explain what parts you fit to make it all come together, could/would let us know a bit more about the $200.00 eBay Turbo. eg: the company on eBay, the size , who long for the delivery and how you decided to buy that one, as you said way way too big?? AS for buying off, eBay is new to me, thank you. Looking forward to your next video,

    I love the videos mate. I'm from Adelaide. Closer to the barossa tho. Iv got a pair of VN tailights I'll be happy to donate to you to keep the budget build in budget
    (I noticed it has faded vp lights)

    Budget stuff is the best I reckon. Anyone can throw money at stuff but I enjoy seeing the skill, an how ya solve stuff when inevitably dramas appear during the build. Can relate
    Keep up the gd work lovin' the dirty 30 build already. Keen to see wt u do with the trans an the wiring - wt stays vn elec/what goes vl.. 🤙

    You can get a rb30 trigger kit that runs off cam gear so no need for dizzy

    Get a vr commodore radiator will fit straight in and hose locations are very close

    Lots of progress! 👍🏼 I’m guessing the VN is just a continuation of the VL frame as such, which is why the subframe and everything fitted up? I imagine it would probably not fit straight into a VR/VS?

      They actually fit through to VS. essentially the same chassis all the way though haha

    Mate put a built RB30 into a VS Ute with Plasma-man 14:10 forward facing Plenum and big Turbo and there was heaps of room for the turbo.

      Did he have to manufacture engine and gearbox mounts? I imagine the VS is a different design underneath than a VL/VN? I like the VS model, so I’m interested to know how difficult it would be to transplant an engine like this into one.

      Haha, I’m keen to see what the single cam is like. I have owned RB25s before, but then again, Let’s see where it leads…
