      Stronger by far, Phillips didn't play much and didn't look the same player in the new system, and as good a Raffa is.. The strength in depth is far more important than one player in the long run.

      to think that people want the man who brought our club out of the championship and brought bielsa to us gone is absolutely absurd to me. Hes given more than we have gotten from a lot of owners over the last 20 years. So i for one am grateful hes our owner

      Spot on. Just remember the days when that nutter Cellino was in charge , or that absolute ar*ewipe Bates who always put themselves before the best interests of the club. Radz, his wife and their whole behind the scenes team have never let Leeds down yet. I hope we get a statue of him put up at some point he deserves it.

    • @maxpowerii7368
      @maxpowerii7368 Před rokem +1

      He’s done a lot of good but he’s also made a lot of mistakes too. The badge drama for example where he and the club selected a hideous new badge despite amazing fan made designs all over social media. Although granted he did have wisdom to drop the design once fans started complaining and kicking off.
      Sometimes I think he is a little too invested in the Leicester City model. Of course we’ll never keep every great player but I don’t think it’s been wise to sell two of our best in one window as it’s always hit or miss whether new bodies will blood in to the PL well even if the transfer dealings themselves have admittedly been pretty good overall.
      And sacking Bielsa was somewhat unfair as well I think Bielsa deserved to see the season out. We wasn’t even in the relegation zone at that point and he was sacked during a tough period when Leeds faced some of the biggest clubs in the league. Jesse did a good job following but I think it’s quite likely Leeds under Marcelo would also have escaped relegation.
      I mean I still love radz like but he’s not infallible by any measure either and he ultimately needs the fans to check his power and ensure he’s continues to act in the clubs best interests.

    Raphina & Phillips cost Leeds £20 million, because of their stance, doing deals with specific clubs.
    Both Phillips and Raphina were worth £50 million plus, and fans blamed the club for selling at a lower price.
    Leeds were put into an intolerable positions by players and agents!!
    Leeds had to agree fees with clubs who held the whip hand.

    • @bendenton580
      @bendenton580 Před rokem

      Kinears interview on the square ball podcast, shed some more light on the structure of the deals. He said that both city and Barcelona deals are upfront payments not installments, which basically means the value is higher as if the payments are spread out, the inflation means they get less value and can reinvest in the squad, which in turn creates means better players whose value increase quicker. It's a smart strategy especially when the players are in the last two years of their contracts. I'm glad though that radz is smart enough to know we need this strategy now but not for forever.

    Good that. No complaining from me. We’ve reinforced well. Last season’s run in might not have happened if half the squad weren’t injured, so I don’t blame ownership for the squad size last year. Supported MB, support JM. Success of the past doesn’t reappear overnight.

    CDK would’ve been perfect, it’s a shame we couldn’t get it done. It would be nice to see a marquee signing come in of similar quality to CDK to fill the obvious void at ST, imo is more important than LB because Struijk and Hjelde can play there & Bamford remaining injury clear is not guaranteed- without an out and out number 9 we will struggle for goals.

    As a Chelsea fan, I'll say fair play to Radrizzani and no hard feelings about Raphinha. From everything I saw during that time, I thought the onus of the breakdown of that deal was on Raphinha and Deco, glad to have the confirmation now. I'm sure Boehly and Co. feel similarly, hopefully we'll do good business together in the future.

    Radz is spot on and it's something I had to come to grips with with Phillips. I wanted Kalvin Phillips to be the man to take this team to Europe in 5 years time. But to say to a player who has the capability of playing for one of the best teams in the world that he is to stay at Leeds, a team that survived relegation by one game last season, is just cruel. He and Raphinha gave us promotion, 2 years in the EPL and nearly £100m in sell on fees - they can go and fulfill their dreams, for me they've earned it.
    Leeds fans need to recognise where our club is. We're not of the standard of Barca, Real Madrid, Man City, Liverpool, Arsenal, Tottenham etc.. and the best way to get up there is to trade up. Fans conflating trading up with selling up just don't understand that there's a clear difference - the money is clearly being reinvested. Sinnisterra will hopefully be the next Raphinha and we'll see another evolution in the clubs finances with players like him. If we keep being smart, eventually players will want to come to stay, but we're not there yet - as painful as it is to see these great players go.

    It was nice to see this video because now I guess he’s let all of us Leeds fans the plan of the club and why he didn’t really spend as much money last season, yes it was a huge risk because we almost went down BUT I would rather have a chairman who is planning for long term success not short term success like our previous chairman’s, he’s a proper business man so I would hate to see him fully sell and leave the club

      @@robnoble8897 I think we would be able to, the dropped attendances were after a long period of back to back to back negative situations. I don’t blame some fans for saying “fuck this”. But also, if we are to ensure the next generation of Leeds fans for many years to come, they need to be able to get into Elland Road…as it stands ST holders are of the older generations, and there’s very few numbers of opportunities for the young fans to come to ER each week, we need to get them locked into Leeds asap before they become disillusioned and fuck off to the SUPER teams.

Also think your right the ground wouldn’t be selling out if we went back down. Invest more in players so far we’ve had a net spend of practically 0 what happened to going big on transfers in the 3rd season granted we’ve brought some in but money spent has been recouped by selling our 2 best players… get hand in pocket radz and bring in another 3-4

There seems to be an appreciation that additional ticket price rises (there's a limit) is not the way forward ... which is good news. MOT

    Forget Moggi as "Transfer Guru", Laporta broker massive deals, all with installments, still not paid yet, while on huge debt. Idk about Xavi's influence, but Laporta exploit Barca's worldie name to attract players really well, to the extend they force the move while their club had better deal elsewhere. Crazy.

For every Meslier, Gelhardt, Rapha there is a Rodrigo, Costa, Dan James. We need to be recruiting at better level to be mid table team. Huge season this year, I think this summer was the best we have done in recruitment.
