What made Marcelo Bielsa so special? It wasn’t the exhilarating football, though that played its part. It wasn’t the comebacks at Villa or Blackburn, the incredible rise of Phillips or Klich or Dallas or Ayling or Bamford, or even the record-breaking first season back in the big time. Bielsa took us home, and I am eternally grateful to him for that. But from the moment he walked in the door what struck me the most was his incredible compassion and decency. This was a man who stuck by his principles when everyone was telling him it was going wrong, the chants of ‘Leeds are falling apart again’ ringing painfully in our ears in the darker moments of the last few years. And there have been some. The play-off defeat to Derby, humiliation at the hands of our biggest rivals and the last few months, which have been gut-wrenching for any Leeds fan. And yet in all this time not once did Bielsa complain about our lengthy (to say the least) injury list, terrible refereeing decisions (of which there were many), or even pass any blame onto the players. Marcelo Bielsa reunited a broken and divided city and fanbase through his human decency. He made us all want to be better versions of ourselves, and he genuinely changed our lives. It shouldn’t have ended like this, but Marcelo Bielsa will forever be remembered as a Leeds United legend.

Agree wholeheartedly with you on his character... Reignited my interest for Leeds and football in general!
Love the fact that he stood by his principles and did not waver from them... Even though there's no doubt that his stubbornness and unwillingness to adapt was a major factor in his dismissal.
Bielsa did the impossible and got us promoted as champions with a bang average side against all the odds... Club Legend in my eyes and forever grateful for his time spent here

Of corse it’s sad how he left, but his legacy would never be damaged any way he left the club. He managed to do what no other manager could. He transformed a group into a team. He reunited players, fans, the board, staff absolutely everything. He was so much more than just a coach, he was a leader, a gentlemen, a genuine honest and fair man. He’s the last of a dying breed in today’s modern world and we’re lucky to have gripped a part in his life which will live with him and us all forever. Words can’t explain the emotions we have experienced together, the ups and the downs and staying with us for so long, even though deep down he knew it hadn’t been working for a while. He couldn’t bring himself to leave and went out on his sword. Don’t cry that it’s over, smile that it happened, until we meet again, thank you Marcelo.

i understand what all the leeds fans are goin through right now... I am From Chile but born in Sweden. when Don Marcelo Bielsa came to chile and took over the National Team..he COMPLETLY CHANGED EVERYTHING. espacially the mentality and quickly he got the respect and love of all the Chilean people . hes legacy and history and chile was also beautiful.. he didnt only change the football mentality in chile..he changed the peoples mentality.. he reached everyones heart with his own heart of gold.
take a little look about bielsas time in Chile... He left the team beacouse of honor and loyalty to the former National federacion president Henry Nichols...and bielsa cried and got emontional in his last press conference speech... the whole country got behind bielsa..but in modern footbal politics wins sadly enough

He has something very important, an aspect that his compatriot Ricardo Gareca also shares. They are guys who understand the importance of legacy. Argentina, his country, went decades without winning a cup. But we Argentines always feel that we deserve the World Cup. Not only because of our level, but because of our history, our legacy... even if things go wrong, we never change our minds. And every success story, every good success story, starts with people with convictions like Bielsa

I think it's sad he has gone.im a 55 year old West ham fan who grew up in the era of dirty Leeds and I don't mean that in a disrespectful way. People of my generation had a perception of Leeds. Marcelo bielsa changed that and made Leeds the team we all wanted to watch. But for me that aside I loved his humility as a man. We are working class people in general who love football and even though he would not speak English we could all see a very decent human being. I as a West ham fan also say thank you to Mr bielsa.

I'm Argentinian. And believe me: it hurts us to all. We are united with Leeds forever. Because football is that: risk. Go forward. Not giving up. But for that, you need to have resources and a whole team convinced with you: and the current players no longer believed in Marcelo and turned their back on him. They should have resisted. Having fought for someone who never betrayed them. There are players in Leeds who come from the Championship and with Bielsa, they continued to play: that is loyalty. Bielsa was beaten by teams with millions of euros ahead. And with Bielsa they could save the season. God luck Leeds

Win lose or draw, Mr Bielsa's teams both those off field and on, have brought back so much pride to Leeds supporters both near and far. Never publicaly criticising referee decisions on the field, never complaining or blaming injury problems for results. Giving fair balanced opinions about games, praising opponents, when appropriate. Improving every player in the squad beyond thier own expectations, giving young players a chance. Not breaking the bank. Exhilarating and nail-biting to watch in equal measure, never boring. Honest football, so so refreshing to behold. Together with Mr Radrizzani and directors, values and standards restored from the top to the bottom of Leeds United.
Thank you so very very much Mr Bielsa and colleagues. A beautiful era of Leeds Utd's history that shall never be forgotten, certainly not by me.

    Great video!
I admit that I've been angry with Leeds United for a few days... Marcelo deserved to fight until the end of the season! He had earned it!
But this kind of video makes me see that I can't be angry with Leeds's fans, because you are a great fan and you deserve the best!
Respect, health and luck friends! From the Basque country

Any club would have been proud / lucky to have him as a manager.I like many others was over the moon with his appointment.I went to his first game at Forest Green and caught up with great mates including Trevor H. (r.i.p).
Some of the best football we've ever played under Bielsa.
Thank you so much for those great games and memories.Last win at West Ham was great to be there and see.
Another club legend departed but not forgotten.

He's handed this club over in such a good state to the next guy, in my lifetime I've not seen a new manager inherit the club in as good a position. Marcelo gave this guy a great platform to build off of, if he's half as good as the last guy we should be alright

Fuck sake lad I said I wouldn't cry again... Jesus Christ
One and a half seasons with you in the prem just wasn't enough, I wish it could've gone on forever with you at the helm. It wasn't just the football, it was the iconic way you held yourself, the composure, stoicism and absolute passion that you brought to each and every day and football in general. Humble, kind and caring to the end. May you never change
You gave me something to look forward to, beyond the thoughts of suicide during the lockdowns alone and something ai still struggle with.
People laugh at me about talking about it, I've been locked jibed and taunted, but atleast we all here will understand, and have lived through some absolute magic and history
Thank you Marcelo 🤷‍♂️ Dunno what to do now mate, but thanks for letting me draw breath with optimism again.
We all bleed Leeds. I don't want the next chapter but we have to move forward. ALAW, MOT
