    UPDATE! :
Hey, I'm Adruit-Grobbulus (formerly Justdruit-ArcaniteReaper), the player being interviewed in this video. Here's what's happened with Arcanite Reaper and in last 16 months.
After the interview went live, we saw a huge influx of new players to Arcanite Reaper. Sadly, they didn't have much staying power. By the launch of phase two in September, was the only Alliance raiding guild on the server. 99% of the rerollers and 90% of the post-interview crowd had stopped playing. transferred off and promptly disbanded in August.
We struggled to make progress in SSC, often raiding with only 22 or 23 players -- the only Alliance raiders on the entire server. Achieving Revered with four factions to complete the heroics required for the TK attunement was simply not possible without a population to run dungeons with, so we were unable to even start The Eye.
At the end of November, Blizzard introduced their free realm transfer program. We had been holding out for an official Blizzard solution to our population problem because most of us were philosophically opposed to paving Blizzard extra money to solve a problem that Blizzard created in the first place. Once that happened, we promptly transferred to Grobbulus (for free) as a 3/10 guild with about 20 active raiders.
Since then, the guild has thrived. We recruited aggressively, finished phase two as a 10/10 guild, and started phase three on more or less equal footing with the rest of community. We achieved our first Illidan kill on 3/14, and cleared SWP through pre-nerf M'uru, before losing to the summer vacation rarespawn until the prepatch for WotLKC. In Wrath, we're 17/17 (+3), building a second raid team, and looking forward to Ulduar.
Blizzard deactivated Arcanite Reaper in August of 2022.
is basically now a healthy guild on a healthy server who sometimes tells stories about the bad old days on Arcanite Reaper. We're like a neglected child who you check in on 15 years later to find out they graduated with an accounting degree and are now a perfectly normal, unremarkable, well-adjusted adult.
I personally would be happy to talk to Asmongold again if he wants to do a follow-up. I guess my TBC experience was unique in some respects, but we're no longer struggling on a dead server, so I'm not sure what we'd talk about. Maybe that's his problem to solve as the interviewer ;)

@@amberleaf42069 From what I gathered the inefficiencies and the difficulties of getting people together to progress collectively has been a universal reason of what sucked so many people into MMOs to begin with.
But those inefficiencies aren't immediately gratifying and worse are seen as an active waste of time compared to min maxing a group of people rapidly through modern tools.
So the modern system is devoid of friendship, comradery, community, and struggles. But allows for drop in drop out play maximizing efficiency.
Basically trading the human element away in order to more efficiently use your time.
Worst of all is that these traits of using time wisely is so powerful for the overwhelming majority of people that lacking it just causes players to go to another game where they feel they could gain those aspects. Propelling the MMO industry in a direction that lacks those strong bonds that built up the original MMOs.
However it still exists as seen here. You just have to join low population shard guilds and you too can become a part of that struggle to maintain enough connections to get you through the content.

Been Playing on AR for a bit now. We transferred to AR after playing on two larger servers (during the first reroll) because we got tired of the bigger servers and wanted to see how it was over on AR. Me and my friends (Mainly Vokul from another comment) formed the guild Archon on the server because we were tired of guild hopping and getting shafted by other guilds constantly. Also some of the weird roleplay on benediction lmao. It's been fun honestly. It does give more of an old school experience compared to the servers that have shit on farm all week every week and thousands of resources always on the auction house. It sucks to have to farm shit yourself and have to wait on groups but it also kinda promotes more of a community through the server almost like a small town or something lmao. The server is lower pop most people are active at night and that is when the server has it's most activity so there are more people on it it just wasnt shown here. 11 am on a weekday didnt really do us any favors lol. We are still low pop and fucked beyond all hell but we are still here ;) Sorry for the rambling.. I do hope that blizzard does merge us with another server or two just to make the community we have on AR a bit bigger because having more people to do content especially at varying times of the day would be pretty nice. I feel like the basic mmorpg quests actually make way more sense lore-wise with so little people around
quests like "go there and kill 10 boars" only get completed at most a 100 times and even then it's with a lot of time in between each completion of those quests, so lore-wise the boars could have repopulated and need another culling
compared to a full server where there are tens of people commiting a mass genocide on every boar in that quest every few minutes
or even the bosses like kazzak who actually feel like a looming threat just standing there ... alive
on full servers the boss spawns and there's actually hundreds of people flying around him like mosquitos, fighting among themselves just to get the kill on him
so basically lore-wise it works, but gameplay-wise it doesn't, maybe if the server was just a little bigger (at least 40 max level players who play frequently) then it could work in both ways

You're raiding a tower that holds the twisted magics of the fallen guardian of tirisfal and for somebody who was raised on Warcraft that was so phenomenal to experience. It's 15 years later and that would be the only pull to go back and experience that again but it's too much investment and then the payoff would end up like this guy's experience. Yeah the subtitles are way off in many places, e.a. "right for the picking" instead of "ripe for the picking", but in your case it actually makes a big difference in implication.

I've played in low populations servers back when I was playing in private servers. You essentially get to know everyone on the server including the alliance side. It's a really cool experience. Everyone knows each other and the server has its own lore with the people there.

lol damn I started on this server. I was with and we left during the AQ phase. Big sad
Edit: As far as people transferring resources, multiple people have alts on this server at max level. So they farm on those alts. Level a level 10 toon, load up that level 10 with resources - and transfer that lvl 10 to their main server.

Regarding the guy in the interview that stated he had a hard time believing people server transfer to farm and then transfer back because of the cooldown, I can testify that people do do that (and by people I mean me). The server transfer CD is not an issue, because you initially transfer a farming alt to that server and you just leave them there. Every time you want to transfer resources over to your mains realm you just level a new character to 10, and put all the items on him, and that is the character you transfer, not the one doing the farming. There is a gold limit for what you can transfer, but no item limit, and I can increase the productivity of my farming by anywhere from 500-800% from a server with massive player and bot competition.

"Ripe for the picking", and so many other things I could point out. Love the videos but I feel the captions weren't fully necessary for this one, at this quality. Ok just one more, 17:42 "I MEAN, WHERE AM I BEEN KICKING" should most assuredly have been "I mean, we're alive and kicking" instead.
